During the mid-90s when Ren and Stimpy came to an end Nickelodeon was desperate to find a show that could capture that same craziness Ren and Stimpy were known for and I think the one show that tried it’s best to capture that was Angry Beavers. The show focuses on the two beaver brothers Daggett and Norber who leave their home to become bachelors in the forest near some remote made up place in Oregon. The two brothers have that typical love hate brotherly relationship with each other. Daggett was the immature hyperactive little brother while Norbert was the laid-back, intelligent, and sarcastic brother. As far as nicktoons go this is probably one of the more forgotten ones not because it was bad I remember watching episodes of it but it really wasn’t that memorable of a show as the other nicktoons being shown at the time. The show was just the two brothers getting into crazy adventures in the forest with the rest of the animals and nothing else.
I feel that this series was trying desperately to be a cleaner version of Ren and Stimpy. Be crazy and make no sense while avoiding the controversy Ren and Stimpy were known for and failing at it. Now that doesn’t mean the show was bad or anything, I didn’t dislike it or hate it, I just thought it was okay and didn’t really care for it as much as the other nicktoons at the time. The only thing I can say that stuck with me from the show was the brotherly relationship Daggett and Norbert had with each other. It was a genuine brotherly relationship, the two would always fight, have disagreements and get on each other’s nerves but at the end they would always make up and go back to being brothers realizing that no matter where they go in life the two will always be brothers. Angry Beavers may not have been one of Nickelodeon’s most remembered nicktoons or seen as one of the best but that doesn’t mean it was a bad it just means it was a show that was okay but didn’t offer as much entertainment as the other nicktoons at the time.
