Nitsujcember Part 13: AKB0048

The idol arc was kind of my first step in bringing Project Nitsuj to the next level. Around this time I started to view the blogs as a light novel or manga. I was bringing people into my world and letting them visualize what I was seeing and saying so I figured all great stories need an arc and since I had got done watching the AKB0048 series I decided why not make an arc focusing on idols. The first anime I choose was AKB0048. Based off of the original group called AKB48 we focus in an alternate future where we have discovered multiple planets outside our solar system and setup civilization on all these planets. But somewhere down the line they established the Entertainment Ban a new law that forbid the listening to music and singing but one group choose to fight this law and established their own idol group where go throughout the universe holding concerts and encouraging people to rise up against the Entertainment ban. In the series we focus on a group of girls who run away from home to join the group and make their dreams come true.

Now I’ve talked about this series multiple times in the past so I’ll keep this one short. The show is like a cross between Star Wars and Footloose. The story can be a little funny and nonsensical at times but if you allow them to tell their story you’ll come to see this as a good series to watch and that’s what I did. Most of my problems with this series stems from the fact that they really don’t explain a lot of the important things in this series such as why the Entertainment Ban exist, who shot Cheri’s dad, and what is Sensei-sensei. This is why we need another season. We can call it final stage where we have a final show down between AKB and DES. Both sides putting it all on the table, the arcs of the girls coming to a close as well as closing the book on everything else in the series. The combined score for this series averages out to an 8/10 and yeah I think that score still holds up to this day in my book. I just really did enjoy watching this series. The songs were good, the characters interesting, and a fascinating story.
