Hello! Nitsuj here and welcome to the side blog the blogs between the blogs. Merry Persona-mas and seasons greetings to everyone out. The year is almost over and a new decade is upon which means it’s time for new anime to arrive which means it’s time once again for First Impressions where we take a look at the anime set to come out for the next season and give our initial thoughts on them. The fall anime has been good. MHA of course stands tall this past season with other animes like Beaststars, SAO, Ahiru no Sora and Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun being a good watch as well. So, what’s in store for us in the next decade? Let’s find out. This is the Winter Anime 2020 First Impressions.
Haikyuu!! TO THE TOP
Okay, so we start off with a fan favorite Haikyuu, Shonen Jump’s male volleyball hit series is coming back for a fourth season. Shonen Jump has been on a roll with it’s animes as of lately and it looks like they intend to keep this momentum going into 2020. Not watching it.
5-Toubun no Hanayome 2
Speaking of fan favorites we have the return of Hanayome. The first season was a hit and even made me a fan of the series. Watching it and I’m excited to see what happens next.
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T
Third season and I will be skipping this. Never really got into this series unfortunately.
Magia Record: Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica Gaiden
Here’s a real shocker. A new Magical Madoka anime. Taking place in a new city and setting, a girl is looking for her sister who has disappeared and teams up with a bunch of magical girls to find out what happened to her. Watching it.
Pet
This was an anime that was supposed to come out this year but got delayed because of production issues. The series focuses on a bunch of psychics who use their powers to infiltrate the minds of people to solve crimes and other things. However, doing this comes with a risk as the users could potentially kill the person they’re in or even corrupt their own hearts. This sounds interesting, I’m watching it.
Nekopara
Cat lovers rejoice as we’re finally getting an anime adaptation of the game Nekopara. Watching it for reasons.
Somali to Mori no Kamisama
Here’s one of the most anticipated anime’s to come out next season. In a world ruled by goblins, spirits, and other creatures, humans are persecuted to the point of extinction. The anime follows the stories of a lone girl who meets and befriends a golem and the bond that grows between them. Watching it.
Dorohedoro
Based off a manga from 2000, the story focuses on a man who has no recollection of his life before his head got turned into a lizard head by a magic user. Accompany by his female companion, he begins tracking down magic users in the hopes of finding the one who gave him a lizard head and discovering who he really is. Not the best set up but definitely looks like an action packed series. I’ll check it the first three episodes and see where it goes.
Kyokou Suiri
Here’s another series that a lot of people are anticipating. An 11-year-old girl becomes a mediator between the spirit and human world. The only downside is she loses her right eye and left leg. 6 years past and a university student breaks up with his girlfriend and begins working with the girl who has a crush on him and wants to use this opportunity to grow close to the man and marry him one day. I’ll check it out.
Plunderer
An interesting premise with this one. In this alternate world lives are controlled by numbers. When a person is born they get branded with a count that could be anything and when that count reaches 0 people get sent to the Abyss. The series focuses on a girl named Hina who’s mom’s count reaches 0 and she gets taken to the Abyss. At the request of her mom, Hina goes off on a journey to find a man known as the Red Baron. Watching it.
Darwin’s Game
A man gets sucked into a mobile game of life and death. I might watch it.
Infinite Dendrogram
A semi-isekai where the world has successfully created their first full-dive VRMMORPG that promises infinite possibilities for users. After two years of waiting to get the game, Reiji enters the game to see what infinite possibilities he’ll discover in this new world. Watching it.
Rikei ga Koi ni Ochita no de Shoumeishitemita
Two scientist who love each other try to figure out if love can explained scientifically. I might watch it.
Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun
A girl calls upon the spirit of a toilet ghost in hopes of wishing for a successful love encounter. The ghost grants her wish but it’s not the encounter she expected. Not interested.
BanG Dream! 3rd Season
3rd season of BanG Dream. Not interested.
Ishuzoku Reviewers
Well here’s a series I never thought would get turned into an anime. In a world filled with humans and mythical creatures one has to ask, which species is the sexiest of them all? The series will follow a group of men as they explore the delights of the red-light district and argue over who they think the sexiest species is. This is one of those series that’s borderline hentai so if you don’t like heavily ecchi animes than skip over this one. For those of you who don’t mind it, I look forward to debating with you.
Kuutei Dragons
An anime about hunting and eating dragons. I might watch it.
Koisuru Asteroid
An anime about astronomy. Not watching.
ID: INVADED
A detective tries to solve a murder in a virtual world. I might watch this.
Majutsushi Orphen Hagure Tabi
A remake of the original 1998 anime which focuses on this powerful sorcerer who is on a quest to find a mysterious dragon. I am a fan of old school anime. I’ll check this anime out and see where it goes.
Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na
Three energetic high school students come together to create an anime. Not interested.
Itai no wa Iya nanode Bogyo-Ryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu
A girl gets invited to play a VRMMORPG where she focuses entirely on defense. I might watch this.
Runway de Waratte
A story about two individuals chasing their dreams despite everyone telling them it’s impossible. Not watching.
22/7
An idol anime being produced by AKB48. I might watch it.
Hatena☆Illusion
A boy goes to Japan to become the apprentice of a magician. He’s reunited with his childhood friend who doesn’t like him anymore and to top it all off he’s training in a creepy mansion while a series of burglaries is happening in the city. I don’t know what this anime wants to do. Skipping it.
Boku no Tonari ni Ankoku Hakaishin ga Imasu
A boy keeps getting suckered into the antics of his imaginative friend. Skipping it.
Oshi ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu
A girl likes the minor of an idol group and wants to see them sing at Budoukan. Not watching.

A3! SEASON SPRING ＆ SUMMER
A group of actors trying to make it big. Not interested
Housekisho Richard-shi no Nazo Kantei
An anime about a jewelry appraiser and a cheerful college student who try to unravel the mysteries of jewels and what they mean. Not watching.
Uchi Tama?! Uchi no Tama Shirimasenka?
A spin off of Tama and friends which reimagines them as humans instead of animals. Not interested.
Show By Rock!! Mashumairesh!!
A spin-off focusing on a whole new band. Not interested
Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga
Nobunaga along with other historical figures get reincarnated as dogs in modern day Japan. I might just watch this to get a good laugh out of the scenario.
Zenonzard THE ANIMATION
I have no idea what this anime is about. I’ll watch the first episode to see if this is for me.
Murenase! Shiiton Gakuen
In a world where animal people and humans coexist, a boy who hates animal girls (well that’s unbelievable) finds himself falling in love with the only human girl in his class. Unfortunately for him he gets tangled up with a wolf girl and various other girls. Not sure if I’ll watch this or not.
ARP Backstage Pass
Boy idol anime. Not watching.
Youkai Watch Jam: Youkai Gakuen Y ~N to no Souguu~
A spin-off of the Youkai Watch series. Not watching.
Continuing into the winter are MHA S4, Nanatsu no Taizai, Fate/Grand Order, Ahiru no Sora, Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun, Radiant S2, and Food Wars (oh hey, I thought it was only getting 12 episodes). There are a few more animes but they’re mostly minor and stuff that nobody really seems to watching.
Movie/OVAs
Nothing much on this part. We’re getting a Made in Abyss movie, Goblin Slayer OVA, Haikyuu, Danmachi, Mom isekai, and more Strike the Blood.
Final Thoughts
So not a whole lot of great anime coming out this winter. I know I said no to a lot of animes on this list, but rest assured that doesn’t mean I hate that anime, I’m just not interested in watching it. I am looking forward to seeing the anime I said I was interested in watching. Let me know what anime you guys are looking forward to watching and let me know if you recommend anything.
