Hello everyone. Nitsuj here and welcome to the side blog the blogs between the blogs. First off, happy holidays to everyone out there. I hope you all have a fun and safe time with your family and friends. The year is almost over which the winter anime season of next year is just around the corner which means it’s time to do First Impressions. For those of you who are new this is where I take a look at the anime set to come out in the next season and give my initial thoughts. There’s no research or backstory done on them. It’s just reading the overview and deciding if this is something I would like to watch. Before getting into the winter season I like to give my thoughts on the fall season. It was okay, I guess. Didn’t really watch that many animes this past season. Kimestu no Yaiba is starting to pick up, I like the second part of Mushoku Tensei, takt.op Destiny has some great animation, 86 has been exciting, the world’s finest assassin gets reincarnated has surprised me with how good and entertaining it is, Banished from the Hero’s party has been rather relaxing, Sakugan and the Faraway Paladin has been somewhat interesting. Oh yeah, and Lupin the Third is always a classic to watch. Other then these animes nothing else stuck out to me. I know some people out there like Komi can’t Communicate and Mieruko which are good but I didn’t really get into them as much as other people have and Digimon Ghost Game is a great redemption for the series after botching the remake. With that out of the way let’s get started. These are the Winter 2022 First Impressions.
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2
So start things off on a good note with the return of Attack on Titan as we continue the final season. Watching it.
Kimestu no Yaiba: Entertainment District
And officially the Entertainment District will count as a winter anime which means don’t expect to see this on the top 11 anime of 2021 list. Still, with only two episodes in the Entertainment District has so far been good and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Watching it.
Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou 2nd season
The second season of Arifureta, an isekai anime that a lot of people didn’t like, but over the last year or so it’s gotten some love with people saying that while it’s not great it’s better then some of the other isekai animes out there. Watching it.
World’s End Harem
Our controversial anime of the season. Originally slated for the fall but pushed back due to production issues. The story goes that a man wakes up from cold sleep where the male population has died out due to a mysterious virus. Society is now counting on him to mate with multiple women and build a harem. I know, this sounds like the plot of a hentai. Watching it.
Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru
A comedy series about a boy named Wakana who likes to sew and collect traditional dolls. One day, Wakana gets approached by Marin a popular girl in school who wants to rope him into her secret hobby of cosplaying. I might watch it.
Vanitas no Carte Part 2
Second season of an anime I don’t remember hearing about or watching. Skipping it.
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Part 2
The second season of this decent isekai anime. Watching it. Be sure to check out my review.
Princess Connect! Re:Dive Season 2
The second season of Princess Connect. Didn’t get into this series. Not watching.
Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san 3
Third season. Not watching.
Sasaki to Miyano
Follows the story of a delinquent boy wanting to get close to his junior who has a girly face and likes BL comics. Not interested.
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Tsuioku-hen
A prequel to Mahouka where we’ll see Tatsuya and Miyuki in middle school and see how the two siblings got so close to each other. Great, I’ve been hoping to explore this for years. Watching it.
Koroshi Ai
Focuses on two assassins who take a liking to each other and get caught up in a battle with organizations trying to kill them. I will check this series out.
Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu
The prince of a small and weak nation wants to sell out his country and live a life of leisure, but he keeps on achieving great accomplishments which earns him more favor with the people and makes it harder for him to sell the kingdom. Watching it.
Shikkakumon no Saikyou Kenja
Follows the story of a sage who is the powerful sage in the world, but the crest he was born with limits him. In order to become the strongest sage of them all, he allows himself to reincarnated where he’s reborn with a more powerful crest. Sadly, the world he gets born into has low standards for magic and everyone considers him a failure. I’ll check out the first episode.
Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja
A computer player gets reincarnated into his favorite game as a female avatar that he created as a joke. He now has to work his way up from the bottom to learn all of his skills his main avatar had which made him the strongest player in the game. I don’t know, I may skip over this one.
ORIENT
In a world ruled by demons, two boys swear an oath to become the strongest warriors in the land and defeat the demons. It’s now years and things have changed. One of the boys is cynical and the other becomes a realist believing he can’t overturn 150 years of demon rule. However, he can’t shake the feeling that he has a responsibility to act. I will check it out and give it the three-episode rule.
Baraou no Souretsu
Based on an early draft of Shakespeare’s Richard III, Richard, the ambitious third son of the House of York believes he is cursed and damned to eternal darkness. Is it just his imagination or is it the work of something more power? I’ll be tuning in to find out.
Leadale no Daichi nite
A girl on life support passes away and gets reincarnated into her favorite game 20 years into the future where she meets characters that she designed and goes on adventures with them. Not sure I’ll watch it but I’m sure Neo will want to check it out.
Akebi-chan no Serafuku
Story of a girl at an all-girl school. Not watching.
Sabikui Bisco
Japan is being ravaged by plague-like rust and our two main characters are on the hunt for a mushroom they believe can cure the rust. This sounds a little weird but I will give it the first episode to get me interested.
Dolls’ Frontline
A spin-off of Girls’ Frontline which focuses on a new ground battle doll girls who battle against a droid army. Not interested.
Slow Loop
Girls and fishing. Not watching.
Tokyo 24-ku
From what I can gather it’s a mystery series about three friends who receive a call from a friend they thought was dead and now have to make a decision that will effect the future of the world. Not sure about this one.
Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to
A comedy isekai where two friends get summoned to another world by a naked goddess who turns one of them into a girl. In order to return him to normal they have to defeat the demon lord. I might watch this.
Hakozume: Koban Joshi no Gyakushuu
Follows the story of a female officer. Not watching.
Futsal Boys!!!!!
Pretty boys and soccer. Not watching.
TRIBE NINE
From the people that gave us Danganronpa comes a whole new series entirely that’s just as crazy. I’m not interested.
Ryman’s Club
Boys and badminton. Not watching.
Kaijin Kaihatsubu no Kuroitsu-san
A comedy series about an assistant researcher who works for a villainous organization and her crazy life there. I might check it out.
CUE!
Based off the mobile game where you train idols. Not interested.
Gensou Sangokushi: Tengen Reishinki
A cast of misfits are thrown together during the Three Kingdoms era. Not watching.
Saiyuuki RELOAD: ZEROIN
The next arc in the Saiyuuki Reload series. Not watching.
Sabiiro no Armor: Reimei
An anime project based off a stage play and manga which focuses on the relationship between the gun-toting Magoichi and Oda Nobunaga. I might watch it.
Ninjala
An anime based off the video game under the same name. Not interested.
Along with these animes we Platinum End, Lupin the Third, Ranking Kings, and Yashahime continuing into the winter. No major movies or OVAs coming out this winter.
Final Thoughts
And that was the winter lineup. While there are a few animes I’m interested in watching no major hits from what I can see as is normal with the winter lineup. However, you never know, there might be a few surprises in the animes you watch that turn out better than we initially thought.
