Izuku Midoriya, a determined young hero with spiky green hair and a fierce expression, charges forward against a fiery backdrop, embodying bravery and energy.

(Nitsuj): Hello and welcome to Project Nitsuj. The time has come at last. Chibi, hit the signal.

*Chibi pulls a lever that shines a spotlight of a hammer in the sky*

(Chibi): You think she’ll show up Nii-chan?

(Nitsuj): She will. She’s been waiting to do this for years.

(???): I’m here.

*Nitsuj turns to see Seras*

(Nitsuj): Seras!? What are you doing here?

(Seras): I saw my signal in the sky.

(Nitsuj): No! We’ve been over this. Your signal is a scythe. Shizuku’s signal is the hammer.

(Seras): Oh. My bad.

*Seras disappears back into the system. Shizuku appears shortly after her*

(Shizuku): Sorry for the wait. We doing this?

(Nitsuj): Yep. Have a seat and let’s review, My Hero Academia. Hands down one of the biggest mangas in the last decade. Written by Kōhei Horikoshi in 2014-2024, My Hero Academia came out at just the right time. The MCU had just done the Avengers movie and people were still talking about it 2 years later. Naruto was also getting ready to come to an end which left a large gap for Shonen Jump.

(Shizuku): That gap would go on to be filled by two manga. Black Clover which had its naysayers at the start and My Hero Academia. With the MCU in full swing, people quickly gravitated toward My Hero Academia and it steadily rose up through the rankings. It wasn’t long until it began to fill in the gap that Naruto left and for it to become one of Shonen Jump’s best running mangas.

(Nitsuj): Thanks to its success, the decision was made to turn it into an anime and the studio that drew the lucky number was Bones aka Bones Film (Soul Eater, FMA: Brotherhood, and Bungou Stray Dogs). Now you have to understand this was a big deal. The studio had essentially signed onto a near decade long project where they would animate the entire series from beginning to end. The first season came out in 2016 and the final season came out this past year bringing the grand total to 170 episodes plus 10 OVAs, and 4 movies.

(Shizuku): For years everyone has been asking us to review the anime, but we just didn’t feel right reviewing it in short portions. So we held off and waited until the series was completed over and turn it into one big mega review.

(Nitsuj): With the 10-year anniversary of the first season here and the series finally ending last year, now seems like the perfect time to review it. Welcome everyone to My Hero Summeria where we’ll be taking a look at the anime from beginning to end all summer starting with the first season.

(Shizuku): There’s a lot to review, a lot talk about, and not many weeks to do it all so let’s suit up and get started. This is My Hero Academia S1.

Opening and Ending Theme

(Nitsuj): Their first opening was “The Day” by Porno Graffitti. A good song overall, that does a good job focusing on our main character who is told he can’t do this and should just give up, but he doesn’t. The day of him becoming a hero is fast approaching and he should be ready for what’s to come. While it not may favorite opening from the series, this was a good way to start our journey.

(Shizuku): The first ending is “Heroes” by Brian the Sun. What a weird band name. Anyway, this ending is pretty good. It reinforces the themes of the first opening and feels you with determination on chasing your dreams no matter what. I do like the singer’s voice here as well. He has excellent control over his vocals.

Episodes 1-4

(Nitsuj): The anime starts off with us learning about quirks (Shizuku: Which apparently we have a lot of here). Basically, through some unexplained phenomenon children started being born with superpowers known as quirks. As time went on 80% of the world became populated with people with superpowers and gave way to both heroes and villains being born in the world (the comic books that we read as children have finally become reality). We then focus on a kid named Izuku voiced by Daiki Yamashita (Tohya from Log Horizon) who aspires to one day go to the prestigious U.A. High school a school that teaches kids to be heroes. The only problem is Izuku doesn’t have a quirk. Yep, he’s one of the 20% who wasn’t born with a quirk (big deal. Just go the Batman route. Become smart and badass. (Shizuku): And be a multi-billionaire. Your parents are rich right?). But despite this setback he’s still determined to be a hero even if everyone around him mocks him and his dream (blessed are those who are determined and work hard for they are wise while the talented are fools who are spoiled and look down on others). After getting bullied by some of his classmates (Shizuku: And not having the guts to fight back. (Nitsuj): They have superpowers. (Shizuku): Batman. (Nitsuj): Good point) he begins to walk home where he gets attacked by this slime criminal (wrong gender! Wrong gender! (Shizuku): Maybe he’s into that) and saved by the hero All Might the greatest hero in the world and Izuku’s idol voiced by Kenta Miyake (Scar from FMA: Brotherhood. A fun fact about All Might’s character design is that he’s drawn in the American hero style). All Might saves Izuku from the slime criminal and captures him right before Izuku can ask him a question which he’s too scared and nervous to ask (Shizuku: Do it you pansy). All Might takes his leave but Izuku latches on to his leg forcing him to land on top of a building where Izuku asks him if it’s possible for a guy without a quirk to be a hero (scene here: https://youtu.be/-k8pP99U3Rs?si=8e88YscvRAYZoOkO. (Shizuku): The answer is yes kid).

Episode 2 picks up where episode 1 left off with Izuku waiting on a response from All Might who deflates back into a skinny weak man (scene here: https://youtu.be/UxBRlKVSO3g?si=4Z7k8UUMME9IJh87. (Shizuku): Good God get some meat on those bones. You look like Popeye after they took him off the steroid spinach). So this is All Might’s true form unknown to the public. A few years ago he fought against a dangerous villain where he got seriously injured losing his stomach and rapturing a few organs as well from multiple surgeries (how are you still alive?). Because of this injury he can only fight for a total of 3 hours a day. All Might doesn’t want the public to know about this because to them he’s the ultimate hero, their symbol that good will always conquer evil (and seeing the anorexic version of Goku isn’t gonna make them feel secure). He takes his leave but not before answering Izuku’s question where he politely tells him to face reality (Shizuku: Please don’t make a Frank Sinatra joke) and realize that there are just some things he can’t do. Devastated by this, Izuku begins the sad walk home when off in the distance an explosion goes off caused by that slime creature from the first episode. It turns out All Might dropped the bottle when Izuku grabbed him (oh so it’s the kid’s fault, https://youtu.be/m5RtlpXsl8k) and now he’s gone on a rampage in town by capturing one of the boys that bullied Izuku earlier (Shizuku: I told you he was into this) and the heroes have no way to stop him. All Might makes it onto the scene where because of his time limit he can’t do anything and talks about how pathetic he is (now is not the time to go all Shinji on us) and Izuku arrives on the scene where he sees his classmate in trouble and rushes in trying to save him (he would try to save the man who bullied him? (Shizuku): Truly, he is a hero among men) where All Might inspired by his bravery grits his teeth and transforms to save Izuku and his classmate (scene here: https://youtu.be/VkjDWnZW_yA?si=pqwQYt6WWFMAlcsJ). The rest of the heroes gather up the remains of the slime and everything wraps up nicely with Izuku getting scolded by the heroes for rushing in (at least he did something) and All Might coming to visit him on his way home thanking him for his bravery and saying that he can be a hero (scene here: https://youtu.be/bE7nAi5xA4U?si=vesuFWrFm4KkTiaz. Man, today’s a win for him. Looking back, this may just be my favorite scene in the entire series. I can’t help but think of Kohei as Izuku and Masashi Kishimoto as All Might in this scene. Masashi gave his life to create Naruto and turn it into the success it is today, whether you like or not. While he still has the mental ability to create, his body unfortunately doesn’t have it in him to draw another story like Naruto. Now here he is, passing the baton to Kohei and telling him to go and make his story).

At the start of episode 3 All Might tells Izuku that he is worthy of inheriting All Might’s quirk. All Might reveals that he wasn’t born with his quirk it was given to him by someone else (and you have the nerve to tell him to give up). One For All (OFA), it’s a quirk that’s been handed down for generations, each polishing it and making the quirk stronger (Shizuku: A passing of the torch so to speak). However, Izuku’s body isn’t in the right condition to house the quirk so he must train and All Might has the perfect training for him, cleaning up the trash on the beach (Shizuku: That doesn’t sound too bad. (Nitsuj): Oh yeah, if you don’t count broken down electronics and cars dumped there by assholes) and he has 10 months to do it because that’s when his entrance exam for U.A is and he also must stick to a harsh training regimen designed by All Might. Izuku does this training regimen but he feels that he needs to do more because he has to compete against others who have an edge over him. They’ve had a quirk their whole life while Izuku will only have a quirk for 10 months (Izuku’s not aiming for silver. He wants the gold. He doesn’t just want to be a hero, he wants to be the best hero, and I applaud him for it). Once All Might sees his resolve, he fixes the regimen and after 10 months Izuku has cleared the beach of the trash (Shizuku: And he’s got a hot bod too. Go forth and open up a can a whoop ass on anyone who said you couldn’t do it. Scene here: https://youtu.be/IOocrVFg74Q?si=ZCQJ43SLh04290I4). Once the beach is cleared All Might gives Izuku his quirk, One For All. How does he do it, by giving Izuku a piece of his hair and having him eat it (Shizuku: Passed by DNA huh? Just be glad it was hair and not the other stuff). After digesting the hair, Izuku goes to the entrance exam where they’re given a presentation and then head to a specified battle center and battle a different faux of villains where depending on how strong they are will earn you points (of course attacking other participants is prohibited and will result in an automatic disqualification. (Shizuku): Damn it. (Nitsuj): They’re heroes, not villains). Before the exam, he almost has a disaster but gets saved by a girl (scene here: https://youtu.be/UW8q0_O3ZZw?si=H_z31cF8wDsNtUL-. (Shizuku): Poor boy didn’t say a word. (Nitsuj): Yes he did. He’s been through a lot. Let him have this).

Not much to say about episode 4. The exam begins where Izuku is clearly outmatched by everyone and can’t get a single point. Things get even more hectic when the OP robot appears which according to the instructors is too strong for them and should not be engaged at all. Everyone runs away from it but Izuku sees the girl who helped him at the front gates in trouble so he does what a hero should and runs back to save her fighting the robot where he one punches that bastard out (Izuku punch~! (Shizuku): Izuku kick~!). He manages to destroy the bot but his body couldn’t withstand the force of the quirk and he breaks his arm (scene here: https://youtu.be/PfZA0IlOWJQ?si=CJWqoXw_e-iQ6uZa). So at the end of the exam Izuku gets 0 points and even counting the written part chances are slim that he’ll pass. A week goes by and he receives a letter from U.A where it says he passed the exams. Yes, he got no points for destroying the bots however he got 60 points for rescuing the girl (Shizuku: 60 points!? Eat my tits! That was a 100-point rescue. I thought we were in Japan not Russia). Being a hero means more than beating up bad guys and saving the day. It also means risking your life to save another life and that’s what Izuku did. Combining those points with written score he passes the exam and has now become an official student at U.A (scene here: https://youtu.be/V-N1-1wVHlo?si=IyRJS0pa9kwf6JER).

Episodes 5-8

So in episode 5 Izuku goes to his first day at U.A where he sees he’s in the same class as Katsuki (the class bully type) who is Izuku’s childhood friend and the one who always gave Izuku crap about being a hero voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto (Karma from Assassination Classroom), Tenya (the class president type) a studious person who was giving Izuku a hard time at the exam voiced by Kaito Ishikawa (Tigre from Lord Marksman and Vanadis), and Ochaco (future girlfriend type) the girl who Izuku saved at the exam voiced by Ayane Sakura (Gasper from High School DxD). They meet their homeroom teacher Aizawa a not too impressive hero who hates wasting time. The class’s first activity at U.A is a fitness exam where they get to use their quirks and the person who comes in last place on the test gets expelled (weed out the weak and start grooming the strong). The first test is the 50-meter dash (Shizuku: What, no riding the sandworm joke? (Nitsuj): It’s been done to death) where we get to see some of the power of the students such as Katsuki having the power to create explosions, Tenya has jet engines built into his legs, and Ochaco can control gravity by touching anything she wants however she gets sick depending on how big the object is. The next test is the grip test followed by the long jump, side steps (remember those from by basketball days), and ball throw where Izuku decides to show his stuff but Aizawa uses his powers which allow him to nullify the quirks of others (the power of nullification has been coming up quite a bit in the media) to stop Izuku (asshole). He reveals himself to be Eraser Head an underground hero who doesn’t like media attention and doesn’t get along well with All Might (Shizuku: In other words, Izuku is on his shit list). He knows that Izuku can’t control his quirk yet (impressive insight) and warns him that if he keeps going down this reckless path he’ll only become a hindrance to everyone around him (Shizuku: True. I don’t mind you using 100% of your power from the get go but if you’re gonna make this a habit and not have my back on the battlefield, you’ll be the first person I’ll leave to die and the last person I’ll save. Nothing’s worst than a glass cannon on the battlefield). This puts Izuku in a bind on what to do. Go all out and he’ll become incapacitated, do it like a regular kid and he’ll wind up in last place (in the end he has to find a way to reach the middle ground but how?). Izuku chucks that ball using the power of OFA but instead of using the full power of his hand and arm, he reduces it all to his finger at the last possible second meaning only his finger got broken and he can still fight (scene here: https://youtu.be/X3URUgW4HLo?si=myGtzyz0JXG8Zh8r, brilliant! It’s not full control but still brilliant move kid).

The fitness exam continues in episode 6 where at the end of it all Izuku comes in last place however he doesn’t get expelled because Aizawa was lying (like a politician running for office). So Izuku survives the first day of school and even befriends Ochaco and Tenya. The next day shit gets real as we see how the school runs. In the mornings they do regular classes (i.e English, literature, social studies, etc.), followed by lunch (Shizuku: Cooked by a superhero himself), and in the afternoon basic hero training and their teacher today is All Might who says they’re going to do combat training while wearing their hero outfits. I have to admit I do like the designs of their costumes and the fact that they each designed their own costume gives you an idea of what they’re like. I especially like Izuku’s outfit since it was designed by his mom who is so proud of him and wants to support him every step of the way since she admits that in the past she gave up on Izuku’s dream (naughty naughty). So the students get split into teams of 2 and have 2-on-2 battles where one team will play the villains protecting a fake nuke and the other team will be heroes who have to secure the nuke. Izuku and Ochaco get put in a team (Shizuku: It’s fate. (Nitsuj): That or the author obviously showing everyone who he ships) and they go up against the team of Tenya and Katsuki (that is a recipe for disaster). After a 5-minute wait Izuku and Ochaco enter the building of the fake nuke where Katsuki gets the upper hand on them with a surprise attack. But Izuku dodges the attack and judo flips Katsuki to the ground (Shizuku: Yeah! Get you some Izuku).

(Shizuku): Episode 7 is the fight between Izuku and Katsuki where we get a little insight into their past. Even though the two were childhood friends there was always a gap between. Izuku really did respect Katsuki who was everything he aspired to be. Brave, strong, reliable, and a natural fighter. Katsuki on the other hand put himself on a pedestal of superiority. Because he had such a rare quirk everyone praised him for it so much that he developed the thought or rather believed that he was better than everyone (Nitsuj: By God his ego is bigger than The Riddler’s). Because of this he refuses to look weak or except help from anyone and that’s where Izuku comes in. Izuku could tell he wanted someone to lean on and stand by him but was too proud to admit it so whenever Izuku helped him it pissed him off and now here they stand both at a hero school aiming to be heroes with Izuku standing up to him no longer afraid to fight (it’s the ultimate shot to his ego). As the two fight on the lower levels with Izuku winning because he’s studied Katsuki’s move ever since they were children, Ochaco manages to find the nuke but Tenya is blocking her from touching it and taking his role too seriously. Back on the lower levels Katsuki unleashes a dangerous attack which almost hits Izuku and adjusts his move set to throw Izuku off his game not giving him time to think (he’s got a long way to go before he becomes Batman. Don’t think just do it). With the way things are going and time running out Izuku has no choice but to use his quirk to take Katsuki on (punch the shit out of him Izuku). The two trade punches where Izuku blocks Katsuki punch and sends his own punch into the upper floors destroying them and causing the floors to fall apart where Ochaco takes advantage of this and grabs the nuke giving her team the win (scene here: https://youtu.be/qytlZKRbqI4?si=bW5VVuWo-2a5DUbg. (Nitsuj): Just like we planned).

At the start of episode 8 Izuku gets taken to the nurse’s office (that boy is going to set a new school record for going to the nurse’s office) while Katsuki is still in shock about his defeat (Nitsuj: His pride has been damaged). To make his situation even worse we see a few of the other tests where one guy who can control both ice and fire defeated his opponents in less than a minute and one of the girls talks about how his rash thinking caused him to lose the match (Nitsuj: Welcome to high school kid. Back in middle school you were a big fish in a little pond but now you’re just a fish in the ocean swimming with a bunch of other fishes, sharks, and whales all with the same goal as you and some of them are more than happy to eat you to make it to the top. My advice kid, get off your high horse and start taking everything in otherwise this school will eat you and spit you out. And you’ll have no one to blame but yourself). Later on, Izuku leaves the nurse’s office and returns to class just as school is ending where everyone greets him and talks about how cool he was taking on Katsuki and how his performance inspired them to go all out in their test. Once he hears about Katsuki leaving, he goes after him hoping to explain the situation with his quirk but instead he just tells him that he’s going to beat him truly one day. Katsuki doesn’t want to hear it, in his mind he lost today not just to Izuku but to everyone (damn right you did) but even so he says he’s just getting started and that he will be number one (the old flames are dying and new ones are rising).

Episodes 9-13

In the first half of episode 9 we focus on Tenya. The class has elected Izuku to be their class representative (yeah that’s a bad choice. I like the kid but he’s not class rep material). Tenya is a little bummed by this because deep down he wanted to be class rep but his serious attitude made him vote for Izuku because of his previous exploits. Anyway, we find out that Tenya actually comes from a long line of superheroes and he’s also the little brother of Ingenium a very popular superhero who has 64 sidekicks working under him (Nitsuj: One for each week of the year and a few backups in case some die). Tenya respects his brother and wants to be a superhero like him someday (his dedication to his brother is just like Izuku’s dedication to All Might). The school alarm goes signaling that trespassers have entered the school (who the hell tries to invade a school full of superheroes in training?) and everyone starts panicking (Nitsuj: Why? You guys have superpowers. I’m sure you can take on anything that comes your way). Tenya gets pushed to the window where he sees that the trespassers are the media (well that’s a different kind of evil) and tries to calm everybody down. With the help of Ochaco he manages to get everyone’s attention and tells them to all calm down which they do (Nitsuj: Such a man. He took control of the situation and everything). After this Izuku steps down from class rep and nominates Tenya to take his place which he openly accepts. In the second half of the episode the class will be doing rescue training with their teachers Aizawa and a new hero named 13 a space themed hero who has the ability to create black holes and is a popular superhero who has rescued tons of people in the past. All Might was supposed to be there as well but he went overboard using his powers on the way to work and is recharging in the lounge (that’s what you get for showing off). Before they begin, 13 warns them about the dangers of their powers and to not use them to harm or hurt people. As he says this a portal opens and supervillains come pouring out of it (Nitsuj: It’s the Injustice League).

So at the start of episode 10 we see that the group of villains is the League of Villains (so uncreative. You could have called yourselves the Legion of Evil, the Society of Injustice, or the Outcast of Darkness. Just names off the top of my head are better than the League of Villains) and they’ve come to kill All Might. Aizawa takes them on where we see he’s a pretty badass fighter able to hold his own against all of them (Nitsuj: Glad to see he’s not a one-trick pony). While he’s fighting, 13 tries to get the kids out to safety but they get attacked by this villain who warps a few of the students to various parts of the obstacle courses. Izuku along with Tsu and Mineta get sent to the shipwreck obstacle course where they get stranded on a boat surrounded by villains. Tsu’s quirk is having the abilities of a frog (Nitsuj: Thus her hero name shall be Frog Girl). Mineta’s quirk is a little less impressive. Besides being small and a pervert he can create sticky balls which sticks people together (*Nitsuj and Shizuku stare blankly and silently at Mineta* (Shizuku): Why in the hell are you in this school, son?). Izuku figures out that the villains don’t know what their quirks are so they have the advantage for the time being but their boat begins to sink meaning they have to act fast or be at the mercy of the water villains (I don’t suppose anyone can generate electricity?). Mineta is scared out of his wits and so is Izuku but yet despite being scared Izuku comes up with a plan to get them all out of there. Using his powers, he creates a whirlpool in the water giving Tsu the chance she needs to jump to safety with Mineta and she uses her tongue to grab Izuku (Nitsuj: Well played well played). Mineta inspired by Izuku’s bravery uses his sticky balls to attach the villains to each other (there might just be hope for him yet).

In episode 11 the fights continue where the other students work together and fight the villains taking them out (clearly these villains are small timers). A ray of hope comes when Tenya is able to get out of the stadium and make it back to the main building to get help. As he’s doing that Izuku, Tsu, and Mineta go to check on Aizawa to see if he’s okay (Nitsuj: Did you see him jump into a group of villains and just start kicking ass. I’m pretty sure he’s got this). We see him still fighting off a number of villains but it’s clear that throughout this whole fight he’s been at a disadvantage. Aizawa’s quirk can nullify only one person at a time if he’s going up against a group he’s clearly at a disadvantage. On top of this he doesn’t have the stamina for long fights (he’s basically like the boss here. He’s a good fighter but his stamina is bad. (Nitsuj): Hey! I can do long fights. I just prefer to be quick, tactful, and effective in my fights). But despite all these disadvantages and knowing full well he has them he still jumped head first in without hesitation in order to protect his students (Nitsuj: He does care). He finally gets taken out by this large raven/human hybrid monster named Nomu which happens to be the secret weapon they plan to use on All Might. Aizawa gets tortured badly by having both of his arms broken and almost passing out in a pool of his own blood (damn! That’s a villain for you). One of the villains senses Izuku and the others nearby and tries to take out Tsu but Izuku tries to use his powers to stop him where he actually controls his powers and not break a single bone in his arm (too bad it was all for nothing). However, the raven creature absorbed the punch and it didn’t even harm the bastard (Nitsuj: Well. . .then we’re screwed). Just when it seems like Izuku is about to suffer the same fate as Aizawa, in comes All Might and he is pissed (scene here: https://youtu.be/2RQS4xTwtqQ?si=SU7F3x6gxutl1g01).

Episodes 12 is All Might vs Nomu. While everyone takes a sigh of relief knowing that All Might is here Izuku knows that All Might is in danger because of his time limit. Sure enough All Might is way pass his time limit and is now fighting on pure adrenaline against an opponent who is shock absorbent and can take anything All Might dishes out until the end where All Might digs down deep and pummels Nomu until he sends him flying (scene here: https://youtu.be/nI1nZEVTSyg?si=RGltGKBF0Qzeq1qV, fight again I shall not. Quote the raven nevermore).

In the final episode All Might successfully defeats Nomu but reverts back to his skinny looking self. Luckily, steam is shrouding his body so the villains don’t see his true form however All Might provokes Shigaraki (the leader with all the hands) to attack him. Realizing that All Might is in danger, Izuku tries to fight off Shigaraki himself and stalls enough for the rest of the heroes to arrive and force Shigaraki to retreat. The leftover villains are captured, All Might thanks Izuku for protecting him, and Shigaraki converses with his master saying that this is just the beginning of their war with the heroes.

Current Thoughts

(Nitsuj): Seeing how this is going to be a long review, we’re going to give our current thoughts at the end of each season.

(Shizuku): This is season 1 of the anime and it’s probably the weakest season of the bunch.

(Nitsuj): That’s not to say it’s awful. It’s a good season, it does everything right. We get introduced to our main character, his story, his struggles, his goals, and where he fits in a world where everyone is striving toward the same goal as him.

(Shizuku): Izuku does win you over instantly with his attitude and determination. He’s not just satisfied with being a hero, he wants to be the top hero. He wants to follow in the footsteps of All Might and inspire others just like he inspired him. Another thing that makes Izuku great is his hard-working attitude and ability to analyze the quirks of others and himself. When he makes a mistake he learns from it and tries to improve so that it doesn’t happen again. Because he’s been quirkless his whole life he’s had time to study the quirks of others and figure out their strengths and weaknesses. In a strange way he may know their quirks better than the other students.

(Nitsuj): Speaking of other students, the season didn’t spend a whole lot of time on them, but we do get a chance to see their skills and personalities. Katsuki gets the most spotlight as we see him as this bully character who wants to be a hero. Which is ironic, you would think a character with his personality and quirk would be a villain, but nope, he wants to be a hero. We see how he looks down on Izuku and the others only to get a reality check when he loses to Izuku and sees just how talented everyone around him is. He’s no longer that big fish in middle school, he quickly realizes this, and vows to get better so that he never loses again. Outside of him we learn about Tenya, seeing Izuku befriend him and Ochaco as well as see the talents of other students briefly. While we don’t get a chance to explore them as much as we would like, the anime has laid the groundwork for these characters in future episodes and gotten non-manga readers interested in them. We don’t know who they all are now, but we will, and we want to know who are.

(Shizuku): Next to Izuku, All Might is the one character who we learn the most about. It’s interesting to see a hero/mentor figure expose his weakness this early on in the story, but it serves as the connection between Izuku and All Might to build their relationship. Despite this, All Might is still a good character. He’s dedicated to being the hero the world needs and can see that Izuku has what it takes to be a hero.

(Nitsuj): As far as the animation goes, it’s solid. The backgrounds look great with some shots done beautifully well. All the characters have unique designs. All Might looking like an American superhero caught me off guard when I first saw it, and everyone else looks great. The animators did a good job bringing these characters to life. The music can be a hit or miss for some people in the first season, but it gets better as the seasons go on.

(Shizuku): The same can be said about the fight scenes. They get better as the seasons go on, but the ones we see here were good at the time. All Might’s fight against the Nomu is still epic and a highlight of the first season. There’s also Aizawa showing off and proving what a badass teacher he is and the class exercise battle between Izuku and Katsuki showed us how quickly Izuku has grown and will only get stronger from here.

(Nitsuj): And that’s our thoughts on the first season. A good start for the greatness that was to come. Stay tune as more My Hero Summeria is coming your way.

(Shizuku): Thanks for reading and we’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj.
