Hello and welcome to Project Nitsuj. As is tradition on this site, we start the first few weeks of the new year taking a look back at the previous year and praising the good it did. One of them was a buffet of great anime openings to add to your playlist. I’m Nitsuj and these are the top 11 Anime Openings of 2025.
#11. “Mad Pulse” from Digimon Beatbreak
https://youtu.be/HyLFpjurn2s?si=ldqpbwSoKd3nINq5 (full)
Wow. Out of all the Digimon openings I’ve seen this one seems to hit the hardest. This opening got me hyped and sets the tone for the show perfectly. Even I skipped out on watching the anime, hearing this opening makes want to check it out. If hearing the opening alone makes you want to check it out the anime then it’s a good opening. Rock on Digimon!
10. “Heros” from Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman
https://youtu.be/Zk996EOC_Dk?si=e63eixrMn4SK7AoC (full)
Here’s another song that goes hard. The quiet build up and drop in this opening is great and the singer’s voice is steady and powerful. The best thing about this song is the different interpretations you get from it. On one hand, the song sounds like it’s being sung from the perspective of the students, remembering their teacher, the training he put them through, and how grateful they are for him. To them, he’s the greatest hero out there. On the other hand, this sounds it’s being sung from the perspective of the teacher. He’s finally taking that forward and becoming the hero he was always meant to be. Even though he’s starting out late, he’s still following his dreams and becoming the hero everyone always knew he could be.
#9. “Fumetsu no Anata” from To Your Eternity S3
https://youtu.be/e6AnahKR4CQ?si=KHwkVTg8vjvWUtGT (full)
I was honestly expecting to hear Pink Blood again, but this song was a welcome change. It perfectly encapsulates the modern arc of this anime. On the surface everything seems peaceful and joy, but there’s an underlying threat that we know is going on we just don’t know how it’s going on and why it’s happening. Just like Pink Blood the song is beautiful to listen to. That saxophone solo may just be one of the best I’ve heard in a while. While I’ll miss Pink Blood, they choose a great song to replace it and continue this anime’s legacy of having deep and emotional openings.
8. “Method” from Sakamoto Days
https://youtu.be/XCflhe7S42w?si=0qwU6anLMDkSnKXL (full)
Man this opening brought the funk. With all respect to the first opening of this anime, this opening blew it out of the water. This opening was catchy, stylish, and addicting to listen to. The opening animation matches up perfectly with the energy and style the song is creating and makes you keep watching it whenever a new episode dropped. I’m looking forward to the next opening from this series.
#7. “Be the Hero” from Sorairo Utility
https://youtu.be/NhKnuD0mC8U?si=JS9DXbQm3umsmA9w (full)
Well it’s a song by Masayoshi Oishi so you know it’s going to be catchy and fun to listen to. This opening went unnoticed by a lot of people but it’s really great and deserves attention. Along with being catchy and fun to listen to, the song also inspires to take chances and become the protagonist of your own story. Do the things you want to do, take chances and if you make mistakes don’t worry about it. Learn from them and make yourself a better person. A fun little opening from a fun anime.
#6. “Cassanova Posse” from Dr. Stone: Science Future
https://youtu.be/VOJLwCmxmas?si=NWWjF3FRERFWRKmG (full)
Now this is how you start the final season of an anime. Dr. Stone for the most part has always had great openings and this might just be their best. I love the Las Vegas vibes the song gives off because it’s true. What they’re attempting to do is a huge gamble but it’s one where they keep stacking the odds in their favors. I also like how the song incorporates three different languages: Japanese, English, and Spanish. How about that, Spanish in a Japanese opening. Never thought I would see the day. A cool song with great lyrics and instrumental, and the perfect opening to start off the final season. Everybody get up and dance.
#5. “Let’s Just Crash” from Gachiakuta
https://youtu.be/do8EmK-XoAg?si=Wpjl9UnEyJhrTEWC (full)
What’s better than singing an opening for an anime? Singing an opening for your favorite anime. Everyone’s favorite Grim Reaper got chance to live her dream by singing the opening to her favorite manga and she crushed it. This opening is so epic and matches up perfectly with the series. Dark, wild, crazy, and epic all rolled into one and Calli manages to capture all of that in this opening. I know she has her haters and critics (there are some songs she makes that I’m not a fan of either) but I do respect her passion and hustle for whatever project she’s doing and this is one I can safely was a hit.
#4. “Mirage” from Call of the Night S2
https://youtu.be/ce6yxES9oLA?si=Cxfpwj3CjKuXPwSY (full)
Oh my God, Creepy Nuts, never stop making catchy songs. This whole opening is just a vibe to listen to and captures the beauty and mystery of the night. I could totally imagine myself walking down a street at night and hearing this song from a bunch of street performers and just unconsciously moving my body to the beat of the song. Personally, I think the first opening was better, but there’s no denying that this opening has a better vibe and leaves you wanting more.
#3. “Burn” from Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Disturbance
The second half of the Kyoto arc continued to give us great openings to go with the anime. While Chained was a song that focused on Kenshin, Burn is Shishio’s song. His desire to hold onto the life he values and create the world he wants to create even if that means burning everything around him to the ground and rebuilding it in his image. Despite this being Shishio’s song, I like how it’s not completely all dark and menacing. There’s this underlying hope in the song. As if to say he’s not going to get his way without a fight. Just like he’s burning with determination so too are others hoping to stop him. While I Chained is still my favorite, I still like this opening and am adding it to my workout playlist.
#2. “Kekka Alright” from MHA: Vigilantes
https://youtu.be/7eDVYKZ57Xo?si=ira0JVpAbB3CBdvv (full)
The spinoff of MHA did a good job separating itself from the main series with this opening. Like I said in my review, it feels like an anthem for vigilantes. It’s upbeat and catchy but also has slow moments where you take it all in and remind you that these are vigilantes who aren’t out for fame like the heroes of this world. This might just be my favorite opening in the entire MHA series and I can’t wait to see what Vigilantes does next.
And number one. . .
#1. “Vortex” from Lazarus
https://youtu.be/z-nXegyTyuI?si=_jC_wQOHqsCjb_v4 (full)
Behold! The spiritual successor to Tank from Cowboy Bebop. I cannot describe to you how big of a smile I had on my face when I first heard this opening. It’s easily one of the greatest instrumental openings I’ve ever heard in my life. I honestly wish I could go back in time and experience this song for the first time again. While the anime overall is good, this opening was great and once again show’s off Watanabe’s appreciation and love for music.
And that’s list. What was your favorite opening from 2025? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj.
