Hello and welcome to Project Nitsuj. Well guys, we’re closing the book on 2025 this week by taking a look at the anime endings that came out that year. The music scene in Japan only seems to be getting better each passing year. With new artists showing up, current artists stepping up their game, and the constant discovering of new or established talent, it’s never been easier and more fun to start checking out music from Japan. I’m Nitsuj and these are the top 11 anime endings of 2025.

#11. “Cat’s Eye” from Cat’s Eye

https://youtu.be/8-Qekf_GBow?si=Adp2nv8o-4ZjnLV2

A song more famous than the anime it’s associated with. I like how there’s no lyrics in the first 25 seconds of the song. It sets the mood of the song perfectly. A part of me actually wishes the whole song was just instrumental. When the lyrics finally do come in they capture the tone and feeling of the anime. It feels like I’ve been transported back in time to when the series first premiered. It pays respect to the past but also is its own thing. Good job, Ado.

#10. “Rolling Stone” from Dr. Stone: Science Future

https://youtu.be/xpHi53nrDkU?si=rmAnbcaVhw6pB-h8 (full)

This was ending I originally skipped over. But after listening to it a few times I began to like it. . .a lot. The whole song gives off early 2000 vibes with it’s simple but catchy beat. As the song progresses it only gets better. It’s actually around the 50 second when the song finally puts it into high gear and made me like it. Among all the endings in Dr. Stone this one is up there as one of my favorites.

#9. “Actors” from SpyxFamily S3

https://youtu.be/mr7WYbFsK6g?si=_oBqQNYoORhZNgBA (full)

Okay does SpyxFamily have the best endings or am I just crazy? This ending does a good job showing the world from Loid’s perspective. How he’s just acting the part of the perfect dad and husband for the sake of the mission. While the family is fake, the feelings and warmth he has for them is real. The same can be said about the others. You may be acting Loid but nobody’s going to believe you if you didn’t truly care for them deep down. An upbeat song that makes you appreciate what you have in your life and care for it even more.

#8. “Doukashiteru” from Dandadan S2

https://youtu.be/ur9VWIMC1fo?si=wuo6IjQQjwTflGqx (full)

Here’s an opening that feels you nostalgia. I keep getting flashbacks to summer in the 2000s whenever I listen to this song. It just feels me with images of just hanging out and goofing around with my friends and treasuring the time we have together. It’s also the perfect song for our two main characters. No matter what’s going on in their life the two want to see each other and hang out. It really does show how close they’ve become and how much they care for each other.

#7. “I” from MHA Final Season

https://youtu.be/jbBkW1ySUDY?si=AkudhpGvFw7HQWW- (full)

If there was ever a time capsule for this series, then it has to be this ending. It perfectly sums up the journey we’ve gone on with Izuku and how he’s grown from a kid with no powers to a hero we all cheer for. It’s an ending that brings a tear to the eye and makes you appreciate the journey you’ve gone on with these characters.

#6. “beat up” from Digimon Beatbreak

https://youtu.be/5NvfL32bUJs?si=nTaAgte-GcCiVYG2 (full)

As much as I praise the opening, the ending is also good. The warm vibes this song gives off puts you at ease. It’s like you just got done doing something stressful and can finally relax and take it easy. Will that problem be there tomorrow? Maybe. But for now let’s just relax and enjoy the moment of peace we have with those we care about.

#5. “Dandelion” from Sakamoto Days

https://youtu.be/Fpuyz1XyAiQ?si=8ewDI_AUNGkEyg0r (full)

Similar to the previous entry on this list. The warm vibes this song gives off are great and make you reflect on everything going on around you or in your life. Life can be tough at times but if you close your eyes and think clearly you’ll see that there’s a lot of good things in your life and appreciate what you have. This song is a great reflection of that.

#4. “Aimai Graffiti” from Dealing with the Mikadono Sisters is a Breeze ED 1

This anime did something different and gave a special ending for each girl’s arc in the ending. Each song is good, but if I had to pick the best it would be Kazuki’s ending. Yes, the theater girl gives us ending. Imagine that. Kidding aside, the song does a good job telling her story and her desire to play the part of the princess. While Kazuki doesn’t mind being the prince, she’s still a girl herself, and desires to one day find that special someone who will treat her like a princess. With the singer being her VA, this makes the song all the more personal and engaging. Well done.

#3. “Eien ni Ikkai no” from Rising of the Shield Hero S4

https://youtu.be/ezEqga_NQSo?si=6EZIyJjxyYE-Xfd5 (full)

Finally, a good ending for this series. That’s not to say Chiai is a bad singer, I just never really got into her songs. This song however, managed to pull me in with it’s story and theme that perfectly matches what the characters are going through in this anime. A beautiful song with a beautiful story that manages to capture the sole of this series. While the anime may have its problems, you can count on the music to get it right.

#2. “Kawaii Kaiwai” from My Dress Up Darling S2

https://youtu.be/VREAk_zS3BE?si=ubf7lHnXpoyl_vL5 (full)

Was not expecting the 80s funk from this anime, but I am all for it. This song is just catchy and kawaii. It captures the feelings Marin has for Gojo and how he makes her feel. Nothing else to say about this ending. I really enjoyed listening to it, if you’ve listened to it you know why it’s so great, and if you haven’t listened to it get some help.

And number one. . .

#1. “Reckless” from New Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt

https://youtu.be/hAtLqrdG0ko?si=GZzLQfjYgD5AgS9e (full)

The perfect ending for this anime. Period. I like how it’s sung an English and it captures Japan’s music scene from the 2000s. Which is fitting seeing as how one of the singers and composers for this song became popular in that time period and helped change the landscape of Japanese music. The chorus of this song is the best part because it perfectly captures not just character of Brief. Actually, the whole song is pretty much from his POV, but it can apply to the fandom as well. We’re reckless but it’s the madness of this anime that gets us through the rough times we face in life. It may sound like a hopeless anthem to an insider but to us it’s an inspiration that keeps us moving forward with hope.

And that’s my list. What was your favorite ending from 2025? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj.
