Chapter 6: Night of the Blood Moon

*In the office of Internal Affairs, Jin is in a conference room with Morgan, Jade, Morrison and Rika watching a video that was sent to the White Tiger order by the demihuman terrorist group, Blood Moon. The demihuman who was speaking in the video wore a mask that was black and white and looked like a panther’s face with a red moon at the top center of the mask. His gi clothes matched his mask as they were a mix of black and white and matched the clothes of the 5 other demihumans standing behind him who had on different animal masks*

(Blood Moon Member): For years, the kingdom of Brister has committed the sin of housing the artifact of our ancestor. Well, no more! Tonight, we take back what belongs to us! Tonight, we take back the blade of the legendary hero, Aitana! But, we are not savages. No, we will not play into your stereotypes. We will give you a chance to be calm and rational. Tonight, you will hand over the blade of Aitana and in return we will retreat peacefully from the museum. However, if you refuse to hand it over then we will take the blade by force and destroy the museum along with everyone in it. You have until twilight to adhere to our request. We are the Blood Moon, and you will remember our howls.

*The members of Blood Moon begin to howl as the video ends*

(Rika): And there you have it. This video was delivered to the White Tiger Order earlier this morning. The video has already been uploaded to the kingdom’s cybernet and almost everyone has seen it. It’s already split up the demihuman community as many are siding with Blood Moon while others are against it.

(Jin): Is this the first time the Blood Moon has issued a warning directly to the kingdom?

(Morrison): No, they’ve done it multiple times, but they’ve never been this public or violent about it.

(Morgan): In the past, Blood Moon was a vigilante group that was founded years ago and named after the Blood Moon herself, Aitana. They were established to protect demihumans from slave traders, teach other people about demihumans, and speak out peacefully against social injustice for demihumans.

(Jin): So, what happened to them?

(Morgan): Their new leader, Silas, took over about four years ago. Under his command, the Blood Moon took on more violent methods. They began attacking human settlements without warning, killing innocent people, and using acts of terrorism to get what they want.

(Jade): And now they want the blade of Aitana.

(Jin): Why is that blade so important to them?

(Rika): That blade is one of the few artifacts in the world belonging to Aitana. I’m sure you heard the story of the Eight Legendary Heroes?

(Jin): Of course, everybody knows about them. They were eight skilled warriors. Each a master in their field of magic who saved the world by defeating the king of the Eclipse. Aitana was the only demihuman in the group, but not much is known about her other than her magic being earth.

(Morrison): That’s correct. We have records of what became of the other heroes after they saved the world, but there are very few records of Aitana. In the records that we have, we know that she was a warrior princess who was nicknamed the Blood Moon, but after the battle she vanished from the world. Not even demihumans have records of her whereabouts or what became of her. This is why having her blade is such a rare treasure for the kingdom. It serves as the kingdom’s acceptance and respect of demihumans.

(Jade): More like the kingdom’s way of keeping the demihumans in check.

*Jade’s comment earned her some looks from everyone in the room. While what she said was offensive, there was some truth to it. Many people believed that the blade should be returned to Azta, the kingdom of the demihumans and where Aitana came from. However, the king and many nobles were insistent on leaving the blade within the kingdom and in a museum to show demihumans that they were respected and welcomed here. In truth, they just wanted to use that as a bargaining chip to make sure all the demihumans would stay under control unless they wanted an accident to happen to the blade*

(Morrison): *Clears throat* Despite what we may think, we cannot allow Blood Moon to steal it from the kingdom. That’s why the Black Tortoise Order will be backing up the White Tiger Order tonight and I want you three on the team. Morgan, you’ve been to the museum a number of times with your students, so you know the layout quite well. I’m putting you in charge of our knights. Jade and Jin, I want you two to provide support. Jade, I understand you have some reservations about this-

(Jade): Don’t worry, I’ll protect the blade. While I don’t like the blade being held hostage by the kingdom, I will never allow it to fall into the hands of those who use terror as a means to get what they want.

(Morrison): Thank you, Jade.

*Morgan, Jade, and Jin get up and leave the room*

(Jade): Thanks for having my back in there, professor.

(Morgan): How was I supposed to help you when you go off like that, you wild mutt? I understand how you feel about that blade, but there’s a difference between what you want to say and how you should say it.

(Jade): Whatever. Let’s just get this job over with.

*Morgan and Jade enter the elevator followed by Jin who was worried about the mission and whether or not Morgan and Jade could cooperate with each other*

***

*An hour later, Morgan, Jade, and Jin have arrived outside of the museum in a black car along with three vans holding members of the Black Tortoise Order. The sun was still out as clouds covered the sky and Morgan exited the car while dropping a blue crystal shard from his pocket which rolls underneath the car. Twenty-four knights of the Black Tortoise Order exit the three vans total where eight of them are demihumans, eight of them are elves, and eight of them are humans. The knights are clad in all black clothing with black chestplates and the emblem of the Black Tortoise on both of their shoulders. Jin and Jade also exit the car just as knights dressed in all white armor and having the emblem of a black-striped white tiger on their chestplates approach them*

(White Tiger Knight): Who goes there?

(Morgan): At ease. I’m Morgan Lanchester and these are my associates. We’re with the Black Tortoise Order, we were sent here to help with the protection of the blade.

*Morgan takes out his Knight license to verify who he is and shows it to the White Tiger knights. The knights verify the ID and salute Morgan as they lead him and the others inside the museum. The inside of the museum was very classy with the low lights hanging from the ceiling, the walls were made of wood, and the floor made of granite. Morgan and the others made it to the main lobby where the White Tiger captain was talking to some knights. The captain was also dressed in white armor like the other knights of his order and had a cape with the White Tiger emblem on it. He was quite young with light blue hair that was cut short and matching blue eyes*

(White Tiger Knight): Captain Howard! Morgan Lanchester and the rest of the Black Tortoise Order have arrived.

(Howard): Morgan Lanchester. It’s an honor to meet you sir, I am captain Howard Wade. On behalf of the White Tiger Order I thank you for coming, but your assistance will not be necessary.

(Morgan): Excuse me?

(Jade): Did you not get the memo that this was a joint operation between our orders? You’re seriously going to turn away one of the greatest minds in this kingdom just to feed your ego?

(Howard): We have everything under control. I have knights and surveillance stationed all over the museum. All ten entry points are being guarded and the blade will be watched by eight of my best knights. Nobody can get in or out without us knowing.

(Morgan): Don’t be so sure.

*As if on cue, the air duct vent on the ceiling comes falling down startling the knights as they move back and ready their weapons and magic to attack whatever was in the vents. Dropping down from the vents was one of Morgan’s ice ninjas who landed safely on the ground much to the shock of everyone and ran over to stand beside Morgan*

(Morgan): If one of my ice ninjas could get in here so easily, then so can Blood Moon. You may have blocked the ten main entrances, but you forgot the other eight entrances not known to the public.

*Morgan takes out a tablet and shows Howard the eight locations he missed. Four were on the second floor, two were on the right side of the building, one was on the left side, and the final one was on the roof*

(Howard): How do you know about these entrances?

(Morgan): I visited this museum frequently with my classes. I’ve become quite familiar with the layout of the museum, the staff, and security here. I believe it’s best that we stay here and work together, captain. We’re not here to steal your glory, we’re just here to provide support. If that’s okay with you?

*Howard gave a stern look to hide his annoyance and embarrassment after what Morgan did and revealed to him. Not wanting to be humiliated like he already was, he forced a smile on his face and spoke to Morgan*

(Howard): Do what you will, Sir Morgan. Just be sure not to get in the way of me or my knights.

(Morgan): Of course. Knights, I want 3 of you at each of these points I just marked on your tablets. Jade, you’re with me, I want to see how secure the blade is. Jin, I want you to use your metal manipulation to secure all vent entrances.

(Jin): Sure, but I don’t have the complete layout of the museum.

(Morgan): Don’t worry, this little fella will assist you.

*The ice ninja walks over to Jin and climbs onto his left shoulder to be at face level with Jin*

(Morgan): My ice ninja will direct you to all the vents in the museum. Once you finish, meet me and Jade in the exhibit with the blade.

(Jin): Yes sir.

*Jin and the ice ninja salute Morgan before heading off to the first vent while the other knights of the Black Tortoise Order go to secure the eight secret entrances. Each group was composed of one human, elf, and demihuman. Morgan and Jade headed to the exhibit of the blade*

(Morgan): So tell me Jade, if you were Blood Moon, what would be your means of attacking the museum?

(Jade): Hmm~, my guess, they’ll try a frontal assault to keep most of the knights busy and have another unit sneak in through one of the secret entrances.

(Morgan): You wouldn’t use the vents?

(Jade): No, it’ll take too long. They’ll use the vents to escape.

(Morgan): Ah~ I see. The entrances will already be covered so it’ll make sense to use the vents to escape rather than the entrance.

(Jade): Exactly. I’m a little worried about the entrances though. I’m sure that’s where they’ll strike after the frontal assault.

(Morgan): I trust our knights can handle themselves and guard their positions effectively.

(Jade): Can you say the same for the White Tigers?

(Morgan): Now that will be the wild card of this operation. If their captain is anything to go off of I say these guys are in over their heads.

(Jade): Or not taking this as seriously as they should.

(Morgan): Reminds me of a certain wolf when she fights.

(Jade): Reminds me of a certain man and his love life.

*Morgan and Jade begin to laugh at each other’s comments*

(Jade): You know, I’m glad we’re such close friends. If it had been anyone else, I would have knocked their teeth out for what they just said.

(Morgan): Then I shall count my blessings for befriending such a fierce wolf.

*Morgan and Jade continued their delightful banter until they reached the exhibit of Legendary Heroes*

***

*Thirty minutes pass as Jin enters the exhibit of Legendary Heroes with the ice ninja hanging from his left shoulder happily*

(Jin): We finished securing all the vents. They won’t cause damage to the building, but it will damage the vents if the traps are triggered.

(Morgan): That’s fine, this place was due for an upgrade on the vents anyway. I see that you and my ice ninja have become close.

(Jin): Yeah, its been a big help with the vents. Ain’t that right buddy?

(Ice ninja): Cuddle, Win!

*The ice ninja rubs its head against Jin’s neck to show affection*

(Morgan): Tell me Jin, have you dealt with spirits in the past?

(Jin): No, this is my first time seeing one in person. I read about them in books though.

(Morgan): Interesting. Spirits are usually wary around people they don’t know. You must have a kind heart, if the spirit likes you in such a short time.

*As Morgan and Jin were chatting, a few of the White Tiger knights were looking at one of the exhibits filled with hunting tools and weapons*

(White Tiger knight #1): Man, look at all these weapons belonging to Balto.

(White Tiger knight #2): Guess he was a man of many tastes.

(Jade): Actually, Balto was quite the fisherman and huntsman. He grew up in a snowy region where food was very important. It was said that he took out a whale all by himself when he was nine years old. When Balto joined the Legendary Heroes, he was often the one in charge of getting food and keeping everyone fed.

(Female White Tiger knight): Wow, I didn’t know that about Balto.

(Jade): It was something I picked up in a book a while back ago.

*Jade looks over to Morgan and sees him talking to Jin. She decides to join in on their conversation and walks over. When she arrives, she sees that the group is looking at Aitana’s exhibit and her blade which is an old and worn out macuahuitl*

(Jade): Hey there guys. Whatcha looking at?

(Jin): Just looking at the blade. You know, I really do wonder what kind of person Aitana was?

(Jade): Oho, why the sudden fascination? You got a secret crush on her?

(Jin): What? No! I just think she’s interesting. We know so much about the other heroes but know next to nothing about her. Why do you think that is?

(Jade): Beats me. Maybe she was a private person and didn’t enjoy the spotlight. Perhaps she was interested in helping others rather than fame and fortune.

(Jin): If that’s the case, then that makes her a pretty cool person.

*Jade was caught off guard by Jin’s response*

(Jin): Choosing to forsake fame and fortune, and instead help those in need. Now that I think about it, that almost sounds like us. I think if she was still around today, she’d be a good addition to the order.

(Morgan): *Chuckles* Maybe. I’m sure a guy like you could learn so much from her.

*Jade’s tail begins to wag happily when all of a sudden a knight comes running in*

(White Tiger knight #3): They’re here! Man your stations!

*Outside of the museum, Howard and his knights are staring up at a building where the members of Blood Moon are standing on a roof looking down on them*

(Blood Moon Panther): Knights of Brister, hear my voice! Will you comply with our request?

*Howard is given a megaphone*

(Howard): The Blade of Aitana is a treasure to the kingdom of Brister. We will not hand it over to anyone! Especially to a bunch of terrorists such as yourselves!

(Blood Moon Panther): Very well. You’ve left us no choice.

*The Blood Moon Panther shoots off a flare gun. Down the road a truck horn can be heard heading towards the museum. Within seconds the sound of cars being hit could be heard by everyone and bright headlights seen in the distance. A large red truck finally comes into view where a member of Blood Moon wearing the mask of a bat could be seen driving the truck*

(Blood Moon Panther): It didn’t have to be this way!

*The truck continues to speed down the road towards the museum where knights who were blocking the road jump out of the way to safety*

(Howard): Open fire!

*The White Tiger knights stationed outside begin to fire magic at the truck. Fire, wind, lightning, water, light, and darkness all get fired at the truck, but the momentum of the truck doesn’t stop as it absorbs the attacks and continues to barrel down to the museum until it finally reaches the plaza of the museum causing the knights to jump out of the way as it lifts a few feet off the ground driving up the stairs and crashes into the museum’s main lobby. Glass shatters and falls to the ground as the building shakes alerting everyone inside that Blood Moon had arrived. The back doors of the truck open up revealing members of Blood Moon each carrying a gun or weapon. They begin attacking the knights as they jump out of the truck*

***

*Back in the Legendary Heroes exhibit, the shaking of the building stops for everyone to hear the screams, shouts, gunfire, and clashing of weapons*

(Morgan): They’re in the building. Jade, let’s go! Jin, stay here and guard the blade with the rest of the knights. As soon as we leave, lock the doors and make sure no one gets in or out.

*Morgan and Jade leave the room and the knights following his orders lock the doors. Morgan and Jade run towards the main lobby where they reach the stairs, look down, and see that it’s a free for all between the knights and Blood Moon. While the knights are putting up a valiant effort they’re outnumbered and slowly being overwhelmed. Morgan and Jade nod at each other and get to work evening the odds. Jade jumps from the second-floor balcony and latches onto one of the lights where she swings from it to hit one of the Blood Moon members with a dropkick. After landing the dropkick, Jade rushes over to the next Blood Moon member wearing a monkey mask who had a Chinese sword and was about to stab a knight who was on the ground. Jade hits the Blood Moon member with a punch across the face which shatters a piece of the mask revealing the left eye of the Blood Moon member who was still conscious. Once the Blood Moon member regained her composure, she charged at Jade where her Chinese sword clashed with Jade’s macuahuitl. The two clash swords a couple of times before entering a deadlock*

(Blood Moon monkey): You traitor! How dare you turn on your own kind and side with these savages!

*Using her tail, the Blood Moon monkey grabs the second Chinese sword from her waist and thrusts it towards Jade who dodges the sword by jumping back at the last second*

(Jade): Just because you’re my own kind doesn’t mean you speak for me. While I agree with your notion that the blade should be returned to the demihumans, I will not allow you to besmirch the name of Aitana like this.

*The Blood Moon monkey takes out a third sword and charges at Jade who manages to block all of her swords and the two enter another deadlock*

(Blood Moon monkey): Look at you, talking as if you knew her. What gives you the right to dismiss our actions?

*Jade breaks the deadlock and uses her macuahuitl to knock one of the swords out of the hand of the Blood Moon monkey. Jade then performs a roundhouse kick to knock the second sword out of her hand. The Blood Moon monkey tries to stab Jade with her remaining sword, but Jade sidesteps the attack, drops her macuahuitl and grabs the tail to bite it. The Blood Moon monkey screams and drops her sword allowing Jade to slap her in the face as she stops biting the tail. The Blood Moon monkey quickly recovers and tries to hit Jade with flying crane kicks, but Jade blocks the kicks with her arms as the monkey lands and follows up her attack with a quick strike to the chin which dazes Jade. The monkey grabs Jade’s head and runs toward the wall, but Jade uses her foot to stop the impact and kicks the monkey in the face. Jade follows up with a thrust kick to the chest followed by a high knee, but the monkey sidesteps the attack and sweeps Jade’s feet with her tail causing her to fall to the ground backwards. The monkey tries to stomp Jade’s face, but she grabs the foot and twists it over causing her to the fall on her belly as Jade gets to her knees and tries to break the monkey’s ankle with an ankle lock. Jade tries to secure the lock, but the monkey manages to fight the hold by using her loose leg and arms to get back up and slapping Jade in the face with her tail. Still having a grip on the monkey’s ankle, Jade lets go of the ankle, grabs the monkey’s tail and pulls her into a hug where Jade does an overhead suplex, but the monkey flips through the air to land on her feet that Jade saw out of the corner of her eyes. Jade quickly charges at the monkey and punches her in the face dazing the monkey and causing her to do a 180 spin. Jade grabs the head of the monkey tries to slam her head into the wall, but the monkey wall runs up the wall and jumps off the wall to flip through the air and land on her feet where she picks up one of her swords and quickly charges at Jade who hears her coming and gets a sadistic smile on her as she readies her claws*

(Jade): Wolf Bite!

*Moving as fast as the blink of an eye, Jade uses her claws to slash across the chest of the monkey. While the slash wasn’t fatal, blood could be seen flying out of the chest area of the monkey and she fell to the ground with a look of fear and shock on her face before falling unconscious. While Jade was fighting against the monkey, Morgan was assisting Howard and the other knights outside. He had used his magic to summon ice shards to fire at Blood Moon members taking them down one by one until their gunmen took aim at him*

(Morgan): Ice shield!

*Morgan uses his magic to create a shield of ice to protect himself from the gunfire. He reaches into his pocket and takes out a small blue crystal where he drops it onto the group and it begins to glow summoning an ice spirit with a mini sniper rifle*

(Morgan): Take them out, ice sniper!

*The ice sniper heard Morgan’s command and begins running toward the gunmen taking aim where it fires an ice bullet at the hands of one of the gunmen which causes their hands to freeze over and become unable to pull the trigger. The ice sniper soon becomes the target of a few gunmen who shoot at it, but the ice sniper is too fast and easily dodges the gunfire of Blood Moon and returns fire once again freezing the hands of the gunmen who fired at it and giving an opening for the White Tiger knights to come in and take them down*

(Howard): Keep pushing! We almost have them!

*The White Tiger knights rallied behind Howard who led a charge to swarm the members of Blood Moon in the plaza while Morgan stayed behind to catch his breath*

(Morgan): *Inner thoughts* We’ve done a good job taking out the pawns, but it’s only a matter of time before the king makes his move.

*Flashback*

*Morgan, Jade, and Jin are in the car driving to the museum*

(Morgan): A word of warning Jin. There is a good chance that things will get hectic today.

(Jin): I know, I’m prepared to fight.

(Jade): Don’t get cocky, kid. These aren’t your brainless Eclipses, racists or street thugs. These are hardened terrorists. They can’t be reasoned with or talked to. They have a goal and they’re prepared to kill as many people as they have to in order to reach it.

(Morgan): These last few days you’ve had someone watching your back, but not today. Me and Jade will be fighting on the frontlines and we won’t be able to save you should you come across something you’re not ready for. That’s why it’s important that you use your head in there and outthink your opponent. Sometimes you defeat your opponent with your fists, and other times you defeat them with your mind. The trick is to know when to use which.

*Flashback Ends*

(Morgan): *Inner Thoughts* Please take my lesson to heart Jin. If you don’t then these guys will win, and I’ll have your death on my shoulders.  I don’t need any more of those.

*Back in the Legendary Heroes exhibit, Jin and the eight other White Tiger knights were waiting patiently while guarding the blade. They were all nervous and scared as they didn’t know what the situation was outside of the room. Were they winning? Were they losing? Were their comrades dead? Nobody knew and the anxiety was starting to get to a few of them*

(White Tiger Knight elf): Uhg~, I can’t do this anymore. I’m going out there.

(Jin): Wait!

*Jin stands in front of the knight with his hands out*

(Jin): I know you’re anxious, but we have to stay patient and trust our comrades to get the job-

*The elf pushes Jin out of the way and goes to open the door where waiting for him on the other side is the Blood Moon panther. Before the elf can react, the panther slashes the elf with iron claws that release sparks of electricity. The elf goes flying backwards as jolts of electricity travel through his body. The panther walks into the exhibit not the least bit worried or frightened that he still has seven knights to fight*

(Blood Moon Panther): I’ll make this simple for all of you to understand. The blade or your lives.

*The remaining seven White Tiger knights panic and charge at the panther hoping their numbers will overwhelm him, but the panther quickly vanishes right before their eyes and slashes the knights with his claws in quick succession to take them all down as Jin and the ice ninja watched in horror. This was definitely the most dangerous situation that Jin found himself in and knew that there was no way he could defeat this panther. The panther grabs a female knight by the hair, picks her up and puts his claws to her neck all while facing Jin*

(Blood Moon Panther): Now, let’s try this again. Hand over the Blade of Aitana or she dies.

*With tears in her eyes, the knight nodded sideways telling Jin not to give in to his demands*

(Blood Moon Panther): Please do not try my patience.

(Jin): *Deep breath* If I give you the blade will you promise not to harm any of them?

*The panther nodded*

(Jin): Okay.

*Jin opens the case of the blade, grabs it, and presents it to the panther in exchange for the female knight much to her shock and the shock of the other knights who were barely conscious*

(Blood Moon Panther): *Chuckles* A noble knight.

*The panther lets go of the female knight and takes the blade admiring its splendor. He exits the room and prepares to escape the building leaving Jin and the knights in the exhibit who are not happy with what he just did*

(White Tiger Knight female): *Breathing heavily* You bastard! Do you have any idea what you’ve just done? Why didn’t you let him kill me!? We just failed the mission!

(Jin): No, we didn’t fail, I just set him up for the trap.

*In the hallways of the museum. The panther is on his phone*

(Blood Moon Panther): This is Muta. I have the blade and am now escaping. All remaining personnel continue to fight until I give the signal to retreat.

*Muta hung up and walked over to a vent where he took off the metal plate and began crawling through the vent to reach the other end until something pierced his hand*

(Muta): Ow! What the?

*Muta looks at his hand to see a thumbtack. He looks down to see a number of thumbtacks laid out in front of him that he has to crawl through in order to reach the end. Meanwhile, Jin has out his phone and is looking at the alarm he placed in the vents earlier to know where Muta is*

(Jin): Got him!

*Jin quickly runs out of the room and runs to the vent that Muta used to escape*

(Jin): Alright buddy. Your time to shine. Sorry about this.

*The ice ninja smiles and rubs its head against Jin’s neck one last time before getting a determined look in its eyes and jumping into the vent where it does a few ninja hand signs and begins to glow before self-destructing unleashing a wave of ice that freezes up the entire vent and encases Muta in ice where he’s frozen and can’t move*

***

*A few minutes passed where the knights were victorious and arrested all the members of Blood Moon including Muta after getting him out of the vent, the blade was recovered and he was defrosted just in time before dying of hyperthermia. In the end, no knights were killed and 20 were wounded. One of those knights was a rabbit demihuman from the Black Tortoise Order. Muta attacked him and two other knights to break into the building. As Howard and the rest of the White Tiger knights were escorting the members of Blood Moon into cars, Morgan and Jade were escorting one of the injured demihumans to an ambulance*

(Rabbit demihuman): I’m sorry I got injured sir. I didn’t react fast enough.

*Morgan grabs the hand of the demihuman*

(Morgan): It’s okay. You protected your comrades and thanks to you the mission was a success. Now go get rested up. We’ll make sure everyone knows about your bravery today.

*The rabbit demihuman gets loaded into the back of the ambulance and it drives off. Morgan and Jade then turn their attention to Jin who was sitting by the fountain in the museum’s plaza. They walk over to him*

(Jade): Why so glum, kid? We stopped Blood Moon and caught a high-ranking member thanks to you.

(Morgan): Trapping him in the vents and using my ice ninja to freeze him was a very ingenious plan. You were smart not to face him like the other knights.

(Jin): Believe me, I knew all too well I couldn’t beat him and I knew he was going to use the vents to escape.

(Jade): Really? How did you come to that conclusion?

(Jin): I knew he would use one of the secret entrances to get into the building. He couldn’t use the entrance again because the other knights would have alerted everyone by the time he got the blade. I’m sure one of you was waiting by the entrance he used to get inside.

(Jade): Guilty. I was waiting for him to show up should he be foolish enough to try and escape that way.

(Jin): He couldn’t use the main entrance because that would get too much attention and if he used another secret entrance it would mean running into another demihuman and he seemed like the kind of guy who wasn’t too pleased with fighting his own kind.

(Morgan): That was a tactless move on my part, but it had to be done to get him to reconsider how he would escape.

(Jin): That left only the vents. I knew that once he got in them, I could trap him inside. The only problem was I wasn’t sure how to trap him inside until the ice ninja came up with an answer. It was something I was against, but it was the only way I knew we could capture him and not risk having to fight him.

(Morgan): Well done, Jin. You took my lesson to heart and defeated your opponent with your mind.

(Jade): Yeah, so why are you so glum?

(Jin): I just feel bad that I had to sacrifice that spirit in order to get the job done.

(Morgan): Sacrifice?

*Morgan takes out a blue crystal from his pocket and hands it to Jin. It starts to glow and changes into an ice ninja who falls into Jin’s lap*

(Ice ninja): Woyo!

*The ice ninja hugs Jin*

(Jin): Its alive, but how?

(Jade): *Chuckles* You idiot, spirits don’t die. They’re made up of a collection of magic particles, so even if their physical bodies get destroyed they still live.

(Jin): What! Why didn’t you tell me that sooner?

*Jin stares at the ice ninja demanding an answer*

(Ice ninja): Woyo?

*The ice ninja tilts its head confused at what Jin is asking*

(Morgan): You seem to have a pretty good relationship with spirits, Jin. How would you like to be a summoner?

Author’s Notes: Whew. Well, that was exciting. Did everybody enjoy the action this chapter? I had a lot of fun coming up with the fight choreography for this chapter as well as the different fighting styles between Morgan and Jade. I have to admit I was never really a fan of mage combat but after writing for Morgan I’ve gained a new appreciation and understanding of it. While doesn’t have the speed and hit hits it’s a lot more tactful and strategic which I’ve come to really like. Hopefully in the future I can do a real mage battle. Jade of course delivers on the hard hitting action which I always love to do with her and Jin managed to get the win for the group not by being stronger than his opponent but by outthinking them and catching them by surprise. Good work. One of the important things I wanted to do with this chapter was establish the relationship between Morgan and Jade. These two are the complete opposites of each other but at the same time they get along with each other. Jade can be reckless and wild but is intelligent and can have a good conversation with Morgan. The two can poke fun and joke around with each other because they like one another and have a trust. Their relationship was inspired by Lawrence and Holo from Spice and Wolf. I was always a fan of those two and their banter so as I was coming up with the teams for Shadow Eye I knew I had to put these two together. The only difference is these two are platonic. There’s no love between them they’re just two people who enjoy working together. Alright, that’s all for now. Stay tune, because next week is the start of a big fight and return of certain character I know you’ve been dying to see. Thanks for reading as always and I’ll see you all later.
