Jade Xochitl: The Stone Wolf

*Out in the wastelands at night a group of human bandits have set up camp along the road near some cliffs blocking anyone from passing through safely. They rob and murder anyone and have also captured demihumans which they intend to sell off in the slave market. The ringleader for this group of bandits was a man by the name of Kahn, a vile man who was a human supremist. He believed that humans were the dominant race in the world and every other race was inferior to him. He was a large man who was bald, with a scruffy black beard, black eyes and a chubby stomach that was more muscle than fat. He wore brown pants and no shirt with his upper body covered in tribal tattoos. His most dangerous feature however was the large hammer he carried around his back. Every now and then the hammer would shoot out tiny sparks of electricity and he would use that hammer to strike fear into the demihumans who resisted him. He would often challenge the captured demihumans to a one on one fight to earn their freedom but the demihumans were so tired, hungry, and weak that the fights were never in their favor and they would lose getting severely injured or in the worst cases dying. It always depended on Kahn’s mood whether a demihuman would live or die, but in the end, he got his point across to them. Their lives were in his hands and he decided their fate whether they liked it or not. Getting up from his seat by the fire, Kahn addressed the 20 bandits who followed him by lifting up his glass*

(Kahn): Drink up well tonight everyone. Once again we have a bountiful feast courtesy of traveling idiots.

*Kahn lowered his glass and began chugging down his drink as the rest of the bandits cheered and joined him. As his men partied and drank, he finished his drink and walked over to the cages of the captured demihumans. The demihumans all varied in size, attributes, age, and gender but all of them were terrified of the situation they were in. They were tired, starving, cold, wearing tattered clothing and injured. Each one was taken from their home without mercy and afraid to fight back. Those who did fight back were killed in a fight against Kahn. Kahn scanned the cages looking at the various females they had caught until his eyes came across a dark-skinned catgirl with long black hair, purple eyes, and tending to one of the injured demihumans who happened to be her father. Licking his lips, Kahn called over the two watchers*

(Kahn): That’s the one I’ll have tonight. Bring her to me.

*The guards unlocked the cage and began making their way to the catgirl where the injured demihuman struggled to his feet and pulled the catgirl behind him.

(Injured demihuman): No! You will not have my daughter!

*The injured demihuman shouted all while shaking visibly and breathing heavily. One of the guards took their club and hit the father in the stomach. As he bends over in pain, the guard then clubs him in the back of the head causing him to fall to the ground barely conscious.

(Catgirl): Dad!

*The catgirl drops to her knees to check on her father only to get pulled away by the second guard who grabs her by the hair and drags her out of the cage while she pleads and begs with tears in her eyes. The father watched helplessly as they took his daughter to Kahn. Once the guards and the catgirl were out of the cage, one of the guards locks the door and the other guard throws the girl to Kahn who grabs her by the chin to get a better look at her face*

(Kahn): Hello there, little kitten. What’s your name?

*In an act of defiance, the catgirl spits in the face of Kahn who laughs it off.

(Kahn): Ha ha ha. A little fire in you. I like it. It only makes it all the more fun when I break you.

(???): You monster!

*An elderly female dog demihuman from the cage shouted at Kahn which got his attention as well as the attention of the other bandits*

(Elderly demihuman): You wear the skin of a man but you’re nothing more than just a monster in disguise. The goddess of earth shall see to your day of reckoning!

*Kahn and his bandits laugh at the statement of the demihuman*

(Kahn): That’s right. You demihumans are strongly connected to the goddess of earth. In fact, one of the eight legendary heroes who saved the world was a demihuman who specialized in earth magic. Well let me lay down some truth for you. You guys are nothing more than animals who just learned to walk and talk. You’re nothing more than lower class citizens sent here to be our slaves. You should be thanking us for allowing you to be so useful and not killing you where you stand.

(???): You should be down on your knees thanking me for not killing you where you stand.

*A mysterious feminine voice shouted out to Kahn. Sensing that the voice came from behind him, Kahn looks up a cliff to see the silhouette of a person with the moon shining behind them. The silhouette jumps off the cliff to the camp below landing by the fire where Kahn and his bandits see that the person is a demihuman with wolf ears and a tail, medium length silver hair with a silver tail as well, eyes as red as blood, skin lightly dark and wearing a short length purple kimono with a macuahuitl on her back and no shoes. The elderly demihuman in the cage is shocked at what she sees and trembles visibly as she drops to her knees all while grabbing the bars of the cage*

(Elderly demihuman): It’s her. Hair as silver as the purest of metal. Eyes as red as blood flowing through our veins. The appearance of a mighty wolf. The spirit of the Blood Moon has arrived.

*The demihumans began to chatter amongst themselves over the elderly demihuman’s statement. Stories and tales about such a character had become common amongst the demihumans. They were all about a lone demihuman with red eyes and silver hair who would go about saving demihumans from injustice and slavery. Leaving a trail of blood and bodies for those who dare try to stop her*

(Wolfgirl): Uh, I prefer Jade the Stone Wolf or the Stone Wolf Jade if you don’t mind. Now then, I originally came here to clear the road of bandits that had been causing trouble. I was told to ask them to leave peacefully and if they didn’t I was free to use force. However, the situation has changed now that I see you have captured demihumans. Kindly release the demihumans you have captured, and I’ll let a few of you walk away alive.

*Jade said her last statement with a sadistic smile on her face. Kahn walks up to Jade towering over her all while laughing at her declaration*

(Kahn): Oy, check this little pup barking like a big girl. I see you haven’t been housebroken yet pup. Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to give you something to howl about other than the moon.

*Kahn pokes the shoulder of Jade and she responds by grabbing his hand and biting his fingers. Kahn screams out in pain as Jade judo throws him into the fire where he rolls out safely with slight burn marks on his back. He looks at his hand to see that his index and middle finger are missing and blood his gushing out. Jade spits out the two fingers she bit off onto the ground for everyone to see and began to hop in one place getting reading to fight*

(Jade): Your fingers are the worst meat I’ve ever tasted.

(Kahn): Ugh, what are waiting for? Get that bitch! Kill her if you want!

*Kahn shouted to his men. With one mighty shout the group of bandits picked up their weapons and charged at Jade where she stops hopping and quickly dashes to one of the bandits attacking him with an elbow thrust to the chest to send him flying backwards into a tent which collapses on him. Jade follows up her attack with a roundhouse kick knocking out two nearby bandits. One bandit tries to stab her with a spear, but she dodges it, grabs the spear, breaks it in half with an elbow strike and then clotheslines the bandit to the ground making him unconscious. With the broken off spear in her hand, Jade begins using it to stab other bandits foolish enough to try and attack her. She stabs three bandits in the chest making them cough up blood and die before lodging the spear into the head of a fourth bandit trying to run away. The remaining bandits try to restrain her with chains by wrapping one around her right arm and another one around her left leg. Jade just smiles smugly at this attempt to restrain her. Using her incredible strength, Jade pulls on the arm chain to send the bandit flying into other bandits causing them all to fall to the ground and then yanks on the leg chain to pull the bandit through the dirt and have him land by her feet where she crushes his skull with a curb stomp. Jade than rips the chains off her arm and leg just as one bandit charges in with his blade swinging at her, but she blocks all of the attacks by grabbing a nearby shield. Performing a perfect parry, Jade clobbers the sword bandit causing him to fall into the fire and scream out in pain as he burns to death. Three archers fire at her and she blocks their attack with the shield as she runs towards them. As the archers stop to reload, Jade throws the shield like a frisbee to let it spin through the air at one of the archers where it bounces off his head knocking him out then it hits another archer knocking him out as it rebounds off his head for Jade to catch. She takes out the last archer by bashing him upside the head a few times before sweeping his legs and slamming the shield on his exposed torso to finish him off. After witnessing this display of power and dominance, the remaining bandits begin to flee for their lives and others limped away slowly still in pain. Seeing how the bandits have fled, Jade makes her way over to the cage of the demihumans to unlock it after taking the keys off the body of a bandit she killed*

(Jade): Don’t worry folks, I’ll have you out of here shortly.

*As Jade fiddled around with the keys she was unaware of the danger approaching her from behind in the form of Kahn and his hammer*

(Elderly demihuman): Behind you!

*It was too late. As soon as the Jade turned around, she was greeted by a lightning hammer to the face which sends her flying into the side of a nearby cliff. Kahn smiles and laughs at what he accomplished but his celebration is short lived as Jade emerges from the dust unharmed and smiling. Her tail and hair are standing up from the electric shock of the hammer*

(Jade): Wow, impressive attack! I thought you were nothing more than just a walking pile of miserable uncooked meat. It looks like you have talent after all.

*Kahn just stood there shocked at what he was witnessing. Not only was this demihuman standing after receiving his attack but she was actually smiling as if nothing happened to her*

(Kahn): What? But. . .how are you still standing? I put every ounce of my power into that attack.

(Jade): Hmm~.

*Jade begins tapping her cheek with her finger thinking up an answer for his question*

(Jade): I guess it’s because I’ve felt stronger lightning attacks in the past. Truthfully, on a scale of 1 to 10 I give that attack a 3.

*Jade said this cheerfully. Jade begins to run back to Kahn where she leaps into the air and tries to hit him with a high jump kick only for him to block the attack with his hammer. Jade recovers with a backflip in midair to land on the ground safely where Kahn brings down his hammer hoping to squash her. Jade blocks the attack with one arm not even flinching from the attack and smiling mischievously.

(Jade): That’s a nice hammer you got there. Let me show you my club.

Jade uses her free hand to grab the macuahuitl on her back. She knocks the hammer away where it hits the ground. She then uses her macuahuitl to completely destroy the hammer with a power swing, smashing it into pieces. This shocks Kahn as he sees his all-powerful hammer he used as a symbol to lead his bandits and instill fear into any who would dare cross him destroyed like nothing before the hands of a demihuman. He falls to the ground trembling in fear and slowly trying to crawl away panicking while Jade slowly walked toward him with a mischievous smile*

(Kahn): Please! Spare me! I was wrong! I’ll never harm another demihuman for as long I live! I swear!

*Kahn cried out pleading for his life with tears in his eyes all while a wet spot appeared on his pants*

(Jade): May the gods have mercy on you.

*Jade took her macuahuitl and drove the blades into the heart of Kahn killing him instantly as he coughs up blood gasping for air before taking his final breath and lying motionless on the ground*

(Jade): Spoilers, they won’t.

*As Jade was finishing up Kahn, the catgirl who was brought out of the cage earlier and hiding to keep herself safe grabbed the keys and begins releasing everybody. Once the catgirl had freed everyone, she reunites with her father and hugs him. Jade walks up to the group to check on them as they thank her*

 (Jade): Is everyone okay?

*Despite a few injuries and hunger, everyone was okay and could still walk. They all nodded to confirm that they were okay*

(Jade): Alright. Grab whatever food and supplies they have lying around and head towards the checkpoint east of here. It’s not too far and the roads will be safe. Tell the knights that the roads are clear and that Jade sent you.

*The demihumans nod and begin to walk east after gathering up food and supplies. They once again thank Jade as they headed out*

(Elderly demihuman): Thank you, sweet child. May the goddess watch over you.

*The elderly female demihuman gave Jade a hug who returned the hug*

(Elderly demihuman): Still, you’re one interesting child. If your hair weren’t silver, I swear I was looking at the legendary hero Aitana herself.

*The elderly female demihuman began to walk east with the other demihumans. Jade waves goodbye to them and then grabs a strand of her silver hair inspecting it before sighing*

(Jade): You get your hair dirty one day and everyone thinks that’s your hair color.

Author’s Note: And we’re back. First off, I want to thank everyone for their patience and for checking out this preview. What did you guys think of Jade? Jade was the one character I had the most trouble developing a story around. Originally, she was going to be the metal user, then she was going to be fire, back to metal, and then I finally settled on earth magic. This doesn’t even cover what type of animal I wanted her to be. It almost got to the point where I was going to cut her out completely, but then I remembered watching Fate/Grand Order and seeing Quetzalcoatl who just quickly became one of my favorite characters in the anime. When I saw her inspiration struck me for Jade’s character. I decided to make her the reckless big sister who was strong but also caring. Jade’s character draws a lot of influence from Mexico. She’s based off the Mexican wolf and her last name, Xochitl, was the name of an Aztec princess who was mistress of Cortez and is the Aztec word for flower. While Ryuji’s fighting style is more karate-based and Xia’s fighting style is more kung-fu based , Jade’s style of fighting is like that of a wrestler. Particularly, luchador. I’ve always been a fan of wrestling, so I’ll be having a lot of fun with her moveset. The next preview will out near the end of April so look forward. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you all next time.
