Project #166: Sailor Moon Crystal Part 2

Hello and welcome to Project Nitsuj. Let us return my friends to the wondrous world of Sailor Moon Crystal and see what happens next for our moon princess and her friends.

Episodes 15-18

In episode 15 we find out the gun is fake and the loli Usagi now being called Chibi-Usa voiced by Misato Fukuen (Yami from To Love Ru) runs away (scene here: //youtu.be/NTLEjJ5S0JE). Usagi and Mamuro run after her where they eventually find her in the park alone, by herself, and sad (almost makes up for what happened earlier. Which reminds me *Nitsuj gets up and goes down stairs to see Chibi Isis sitting on the couch sad. He goes to sit next to her*. Hey there Chibi whatcha doing? Where’s all your friends? (Chibi Isis): Killing viruses in the system. (Nitsuj): Well why don’t you go play with them and help out? (Chibi Isis): *Begins to tear up* Because I don’t have a weapon. (Nitsuj): Ohh~, *pulls out two tiny katanas and a wand* well now you do. (Chibi Isis): Wow! Really! New weapons for me? (Nitsuj): Yep, these are your new personal weapons Chibi. Now get in there and have some fun with your friends. Nail one of those viruses out of the park for me. (Chibi Isis): Okay. *Kisses Nitsuj on the cheek* Thank you Nii-chan *goes into the system to fight viruses with the others*. (Nitsuj): I feel all warm and fuzzy now). They decide to take her back to Usagi’s place (where the parents are totally okay with Usagi being accompanied by a high school boy. Yeah, if this scenario was in real life I’m pretty sure the dad would be on the news for attempted murder) where Chibi-Usa uses her hypnotizing umbrella to brainwash Usagi’s family into thinking Chibi-Usa is their child (a child that has pink hair and looks nothing like the father or mother). Chibi-Usa says she’s going to keep an eye on Usagi and Usagi says likewise because they don’t trust each other (they really are mother and child). The next day Luna gives the scouts new transformation pens and communicators and we get a look at the new enemy the Dark Moon (who I have to admit were my favorite villains in the original show). They’re led by their prince Demande and his adviser Wiseman (well if he’s gotta put Wiseman in his name you know he’s anything but wise) who want the Silver Crystal to revive their kingdom (goddamn crystal. This thing does more harm than good). One of his subjects Rubeus sends one of the Spectra Sisters to Earth to find the crystal so the sister goes to Rei’s school (which is catholic apparently. Takeuchi-sensei you didn’t think this all the way through did you?) poses as a nun, kills a nun, and has her underlings start predicting student’s death at a school fair (it was a long and needlessly complicated plan). Rei discovers her and fights her along with the others who just randomly arrive on the scene at the right time. Rei gets into a fire fight with the Spectra and gets captured in flames (oh the irony) and the others can’t free her. When Sailor Moon is about to be hit by the flames Tuxedo Mask comes in to save her and their new powers allow them to create the Moon scepter which allows Sailor Moon to defeat the Spectra sister (scene here: //youtu.be/l-hQ7xL-dac, boy that was easy). Even though the Spectra gets defeated Mars is still trapped in the flames (and it’s still ironic) and she gets captured by Rubeus who takes her back to the Dark Moon kingdom to end the episode.

In episode 16 Mars gets captured and Sailor Moon tries to get answers out of Chibi-Usa who gets scared of her and runs away. Luna finds her in the park and rather than take her back home she instead hands her over to Mamuro (sure, this is how he gets all of his other dates so why stop now) where he manages to get her to open up a little bit by finding out she’s looking for Sailor Moon (you live with her just return home). Rubeus sends another one of the Spectra sisters out to face the scouts and the sister decides to face Ami because her element is water and they’re both drawn to the color blue. She challenges Ami to a game of chess (couldn’t you just play a children’s card game instead? I’m sure I can make two decks for you guys) saying that if Ami wins she’ll give Sailor Mars back but if she wins Ami has to hand over Chibi-Usa (so that’s what the Dark Moon’s plan is. Collecting lolis). The Spectra girl begins to play mind games with Ami saying she’ll be alone forever (not if I have anything to say about it). At first this seems to work but Usagi cheers for her in the audience (don’t do this at a live chess match. Word to the wise. Actually don’t go to a chess match at all) and this gives Ami the strength to fight back and win (scene here: //youtu.be/vZULkabSp_0). Of course the sister refuses to give Mars back so a fight breaks out between her and Sailor Mercury where the rest of the scouts come in and defeat her but of course Mercury gets trapped in a water sphere (ironic is the new theme they’re going with these next few episodes) and gets taken away by Rubeus (scene here: //youtu.be/SEiB_MHc_DQ).

Episode 17 is Jupiter’s turn to get captured. Usagi is feeling down about losing two of her friends (as she should be) so Chibi-Usa cheers her up with a trip to the arcade with Mamuro and the others. One of the Spectra sisters unleashes a virus onto the city and Makoto catches the viruses making her feel sick. One of Mamuro’s underclassman overhears Mamuro, Usagi, and Luna talk at a restaurant about their predicament and tells Makoto about what he saw (he knows too much. Kill him). She uses cryptic words to explain the situation and decides to believe him promising not to tell anyone and receiving a kiss on the forehead from her (yeah you better not tell anyone after receiving that kiss). The Spectra enters our world and tries to replace the humans in the city with droids but Makoto and the other scouts stop her with Sailor Moon destroying the Spectra sister and Jupiter getting caught in a sphere of lightning and taken away by Rubeus (scene here: //youtu.be/A1gEa380DW8, just one more to go and we can finally get the story rolling).

Well seeing as how the other scouts were kidnapped it only seems logical to have episode 18 be Venus’s turned to get captured. In the episode Usagi, Minako, and Mamuro recover a fragment of the dark crystal and want to get answers from Chibi-Usa to determine if she’s friend or foe (even if she is a foe how is that little girl gonna harm you?). They confront Chibi-Usa where as soon as she sees the dark crystal she begins to freak out (scene here: //youtu.be/pinT3No9j6I, it’s as if the crystal was like some horrible mutant crystal to her). The final Spectra sister shows up and she uses channeling to convince everyone that the scouts are evil (you sound like a cultist). At her big channeling seminar Minako decides to face her but of course is out powered by her. While that’s going on Chibi-Usa steals Usagi’s broach (you think she would keep that in a safer spot than on her school uniform) and Usagi tracks her down where they both get attacked by Rubeus and get saved by Tuxedo Mask who can now fire beams from his hand (scene here: //youtu.be/gBBiGOOyf_Y, *chuckles* what the hell? When the anime turn into Dragonball Z?). After getting her broach back Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask arrive in time to save Sailor Venus and destroy the last of the Spectra sisters (woah! She’s didn’t get captured. I’m sorry, we had a thing going on here and this episode just messed it up). Chibi-Usa finally confesses that she’s from the future (yeah that was pretty obvious) and she needs their help in order to save 30th century Earth.

Episodes 19-22

In episode 19 Sailor Moon and the others ask Chibi-Usa to take them to the future but she’s too scared to go (then the future is screwed). They decide to call it a day and she stays over at Mamuro’s place where Usagi also stays over and it gets hinted that the two had sex with each other (scene here: //youtu.be/377N8Mr7ZE8, not sure if this is true or not but if it is than Mamuro is seriously going to jail). The next morning Chibi-Usa decides to return to the future with everyone. Their trip to the future doesn’t go as plan as they get stuck between dimensions where they meet Sailor Pluto the guardian of time and space (so that’s where they put her after Pluto wasn’t named a planet anymore). She attacks and is about to kill them until Chibi-Usa stops her and it gets revealed that Chibi-Usa is a princess (good for her. Scene here: //youtu.be/PcImrOhK9EQ). They pass through the door of space and time and arrive in Crystal Tokyo which is a wasteland and everyone is dead (the future sucks). Chibi-Usa says that long ago Crystal Tokyo (just call it Neo Tokyo for God’s sake) was a lively city until a huge explosion happen which caused a huge dark crystal to appear and everyone to collapse except for Chibi-Usa (because she is special). She decides to take them to her mother but along the way they get attacked by the Boule Brothers from the Dark Moon who like to speak in unison with each other with booming voices (oh that’s gonna get annoying real quickly). The group gets trapped in the crystal but escape thanks to Tuxedo’s Mask new power “power of the word” (scene here: //youtu.be/Cw7Y5pFAXxQ, who keeps giving him all of these deus ex machina skills? (???): It was I. The Moonlight Knight. (Nitsuj): Moonlight Knight? What are you doing here? (Moonlight Knight): I served a pivotal part in the first anime so I have come to serve another pivotal part in the second anime by giving Tuxedo Mask all of these skills buddi buddi buddi. (Nitsuj): But I always thought you and Tuxedo Mask were the same guy. (Moonlight Knight): No! We are two totally different people you silly boy. Remember? (Nitsuj): Oh yeah. Hey wait minute you were just a filler character. The anime was just buying time for the manga to get more chapters out so it created a filler arc and put you in it. You’re character serves no influence on the series at all. (Moonlight Knight): Uh, uh, you should really get back to reviewing buddi buddi buddi *vanishes*). This allows him to break their crystal prison by just shouting break and with the combine powers of Sailor Venus they defeat the Boule Brothers (well they were a waste of time). They enter the crystal palace (this place is dusty) where they see Chib-Usa’s mom Neo Queen Serenity (in other words Sailor Moon/Usagi). They also meet Artemis and Luna’s love child Diana and a future Tuxedo Mask who hasn’t aged a day (scene here: //youtu.be/phcCUZVD4x0, wow he’s on some George Clooney shit right there).

So in episode 20 it gets confirmed (which we already knew) that Chibi-Usa is in fact the daughter of Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask (scene here: //youtu.be/v8ZnQAfqkxE, alright Sailor Moon hit the jackpot in the man hunt). Also, Diana (again, we already knew) is the daughter of Artemis and Luna (nice Artemis). After seeing everyone’s shocked expressions (which are funny but I don’t know why they’re so surprise you guys had to have known this was gonna happen eventually) future Tuxedo Mask (now king) tells them that in the future the Silver Crystal granted him, Sailor Moon, and everyone on Earth long life allowing them to live for at least 1000 years (thank you Silver Crystal). Oh, and you stop aging after you reach your early 20s (and the anti-aging crème people are going out of business). He goes on to explain that life was peaceful in the past (and apparently the world returned to monarch rule) but one day an unexpected blast happen which destroyed Crystal Tokyo (putting crystal in front of something doesn’t make it new), encased Sailor Moon into a crystal prison and blasted Tuxedo Mask and the other scouts away. The only people who were spared were Chibi-Usa and Diana (alright you can finally stay up past 11 like you always wanted). After that big explosion a dark monolith crystal crashed into the already destroyed city (you’re about one minute late somebody already beat you to it) and begins unleashing it’s dark magic on the citizens causing them to vanish. Future Tuxedo Mask finally tells them that the Black Moon is a resistance group who hate the new world and want to destroy it (so these guys are protesting against a future where everyone has a long life, pretty much all the problems in the world are resolved, and world peace has set in. What the hell is wrong with these people?). Their headquarters is located on the planet Nemesis which they believe is where the others are being held captured (and/or raped). After getting all this information a time paradox begins to happen because Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask have been in the future for too long and must return to their time before they disappear. They reach Sailor Pluto who gives them a key which will allow them to find her no matter where they are (also she seems to have a thing for future Tuxedo Mask. Alright go ahead and write your affair doujin. I expect to see a lot of smut and a crying Sailor Moon by the end). They return to their timeline where Tuxedo Mask takes Chibi-Usa to his house again which upsets Sailor Moon because one she’s jealous (which is a little odd because she’s your daughter) and mad because Tuxedo Mask didn’t say “let’s take care of her together” hinting that he doesn’t trust Sailor Moon (so yeah she kinda has a right to be angry). Chibi-Usa senses the wedge she’s causing between her parents and decides to go back to the future where she gets attacked by an agent of the Dark Moon and gets saved by Sailor Moon and the others where Sailor Moon discovers that her powers don’t work in the future (again time paradox) thus it’s up to Tuxedo Mask to save the day with his Kamehameha wave (and the spell check recognizes this as an actual word. That is awesome). Demande and Wiseman appear before them where he mindfucks Sailor Moon and captures her (scene here: //youtu.be/vh05yaYRPmA).

So things go from bad to worse in episode 21. Demande has bought Sailor Moon back to Nemesis where Demande lets her keep her broach (I would call him an idiot for doing this but apparently the power of Nemesis absorbs the power of the Silver Crystal so she can’t transform) and tells her that his plan is to travel back in time, re-write history and create a future where no one lives for over a 1000 years and the peaceful utopia is no more all because he considers it an abomination in God’s eyes (dude, don’t try to justify your actions using religion. You’re just gonna make yourself look like an ass). He also seems to have a crush on Sailor Moon and wants her to submit to him (scene here: //youtu.be/KMtNNRoqxBk, well your just into some freaky stuff aren’t you Demande?). We also see Mars, Mercury, and Jupiter (hey longtime no see guys) who have been sleeping this whole time (oh bullshit you didn’t turn them evil? What the hell man?) finally wake up and try to escape only to discover they can’t transform and Demande is about to kill them. Back with the others they try to work out a plan to rescue the others. Luna suggest they have Chibi-Usa use the Silver Crystal since she’s a descendent of royal blood but future Tuxedo Mask reveals that Chibi-Usa doesn’t have any powers and is 900 years old (what what what what what what what what what what what what *takes a take breath* what what what what what what what what what what and WHAAAAAAAT~). After hearing this Chibi-Usa has a flashback to how she was always being picked on by other kids because she couldn’t use her powers, how she first met Sailor Pluto, and how she blames herself for her mom falling into a crystal coma because she took the Silver Crystal behind her back to prove the other kids wrong (well you picked the worst time to do it kid). After seeing Sailor Pluto happy while talking with future Tuxedo Mask she begins to feel worthless and runs off (for some reason) where she gets found by Wiseman who corrupts her and turns her evil.

Not much really happens in episode 22. After Wiseman corrupts Chibi-Usa it causes a storm to appear in space and time (wow laws of. . .I don’t know science be damned). Tuxedo Mask (the one wearing the black tux) ventures into the storm hoping to find Chibi-Usa. Back on Nemesis Usagi continues to look for the others while struggling to stand (again the planet is draining her powers). She manages to reach the planets reactor core and meets Demande’s brother Sephir who says that Wiseman is pulling their strings and that coming to Nemesis was a terrible mistake (oh now you tell us). He blames Usagi for Demande going insane since he’s got a borderline obsession with her which has ruined all of their plans and he’s a stickler when it comes to following plans. Just as he’s about to kill her, Neo Queen Serenity uses her powers to protect Usagi and gives her the power she needs to turn into Sailor Moon. After transforming Sailor Moon uses her powers to find and wake up the others (just in time because they were about to get gang raped by a bunch of ghouls). The others transform and join up with Sailor Moon where a fight breaks out between them and Demande and they’re force to retreat back to Earth where they’re reunited with Venus, Artemis, Luna, and Tuxedo Mask (the one in the white tux). As for the Tuxedo Mask in the black tux he’s taken away by Chibi-Usa (something tells me the next episode is going to be disturbing).

Episodes 23-26

At the start of episode 23 Sailor Moon, the scouts, and Sailor Pluto venture into the cosmic storm hoping to find Chibi-Usa and Tuxedo Mask. They reach a dead end and have to turn back because Sailor Moon collapses from overexerting herself and using too much power. Back on Nemesis we see that thanks to the battle the planet has become more powerful and Wiseman has finally revealed his true self and assumes command of Demande and Sephir by brainwashing them (man he is a control freak isn’t he?). We also see that he has the Silver Crystal (of his time) however the power has been transferred over to Sailor Moon’s Silver Crystal making his crystal worthless (but it is shining). He orders Chibi-Usa to go to Earth and get the crystal back. Her plan, to crash another dark crystal monolith into the planet which according to Sephir will destroy the planet entirely. Of course she doesn’t care because she has Tuxedo Mask and that’s all she wants (lady he’s your dad! I know he’s good-looking but still that’s your dad! You want to get banged by your dad!?). Back with Usagi she wakes up back at home in her room with the others where they rest up a bit until Pluto summons them for something terrible has happened in the future (Michael Bay is directing and writing a Gargoyles movie). Chibi-Usa has gone through with her plan and has smashed a second monolith into the planet. She enters the crystal palace trying to get Neo Queen Serenity but gets teleported out of the castle because she has become evil (she’s going through her rebellious years. Scene here: //youtu.be/n3twp5TFchM). Sailor Moon and the others arrive to fight her where we find out she now goes by the name Black Lady, Queen of Nemesis (well at least she’s not calling herself a princess).

So in episode 24 Black Lady (that sounds so racist) along with Demande and Sephir attack the scouts leaving only Sailor Moon to fight (we’re screwed). She tries to talk some sense into Black Lady but she doesn’t care. As long as she has Tuxedo Mask she’s content with the world and she kisses him right in front of Sailor Moon (excuse me for a minute. *Leaves the room* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~ *Walks back in the room*! Okay, first off that’s disgusting. Again, HE’S YOUR FATHER! Half your genes come from him! Also, you do know that if he and your mother which I remind you is Sailor Moon don’t hook up together YOU WON’T EXIST! You are literally killing yourself. This whole mess can be solved by telling Black Lady that if she kills Sailor Moon right now she won’t exist). Black Lady crashes another dark monolith crystal into the planet meaning that the planet is pretty much screwed now and Sailor Moon finally understands what Black Lady is going through (unhealthy lust for her father). Sailor Moon realizes that Black Lady is just like her. They both love Tuxedo Mask so much that their feelings are so out of control that they would do anything to be with him no matter what (yes. But here’s the difference. You’re love for him is healthy and cute. Black Lady’s love is disgusting incest). Wiseman tells Sailor Moon to give up but she refuses and Demande switches sides after breaking the spell Wiseman put him under. He kills Sephir to free his brother and turns his attention towards Wiseman where he hits him with his magic eye beam knocking him out of his robe revealing a skinny naked man (excuse me again. *Leaves the room* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~ *Walks back to room*). Luckily this isn’t Wiseman (oh thank God), in truth Wiseman is in fact the planet Nemesis itself (the plot thickens). It turns out that long ago Wiseman was an inhabitant of Earth but was a criminal. Rather than kill him they instead banished him from the planet where he landed on Nemesis. He eventually died on the planet but his will for revenge and to destroy Earth lived on and fused with the planet (explain how that’s possible. (Seras): Magic. (Nitsuj): Scientifically). Wiseman tries to crush the planet with his body (lose some weight man) but Sailor Moon uses the power of the Silver Crystal to try and stop him but it might not be enough. Diana realizing the danger they’re in goes to Sailor Pluto and begs her for help (yeah let’s go to the person who also has a crush on Tuxedo Mask. I’m sure she won’t let her feelings get in the way). Even though Pluto would like nothing more than to help she’s been given orders not to leave her duty no matter what (we are all going to die. Screw the rules and save us). Diana says she’ll take Pluto’s place (not my first choice but time of the essence) and Pluto goes to help Sailor Moon. Black Lady orders Tuxedo Mask to steal the Silver Crystal and as soon as he does the mind control over him is erased but it’s too late Black Lady has them now but Demande snatches them, has gone mad, and plans on taking everyone down with him by having the two crystals touch each other which according to Pluto will destroy the planet (how is that any different from the situation we’re already in?).

So in the mother of all coincidences in episode 25 Pluto stops time before Demande can have the two crystals touch each other (well aren’t you just an overpowered little scout). However, stopping time carries a great punishment with it. For stopping time, Pluto will die (well that’s one way to get her out of the picture once and for all). She unfreezes the others where Usagi gets the crystals as Pluto slowly passes away (scene here: //youtu.be/-PViV18b_bE). Black Lady sees this and starts to remember how Pluto was her one and only friend in the world (she was like a big step-sister. A big step-sister who had a secret crush on your dad). Seeing Pluto die returns Black Lady to Chibi-Usa and it gives birth to a new Silver Crystal (great! Now we have three crystals. More work for us to take care of) which allows Chibi-Usa to transform into Sailor Mini-Moon (scenes here: //youtu.be/h7kXxMEMqdI, now if we could just fix the figure on her body). With Mini-Moon back on their side, Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask, and the other Scouts combine their powers to push back Nemesis and they succeed however Wiseman isn’t giving up and launches a surprise attack on them but it gets deflected by Demande who quickly gets killed by Wiseman a few seconds later (well at least he went out his own man). Wiseman soon swallows everyone up into the void of darkness and reveals his true name, Death Phantom.

In the final episode Sailor Moon uses her rod to push Death Phantom back but it turns out it was a fake (how many fakes does this guy have?). She soon gets transported into space and Tuxedo Mask as well while the others get left behind (man they are useless in this arc aren’t they?). When the others return to Earth we see that Neo Queen Serenity has finally woken up thanks to Mini-Moon’s awakened powers and Neo Queen Serenity returns future Tuxedo Mask to his body. We get a mother/daughter moment between Neo Queen Serenity and Mini-Moon and the queen tells us that Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask are being pulled to the real Death Phantom. She gives Mini-Moon a new rod as well as a time key so that she can go and fight with Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask (the rest of you, clean up the palace). We then go into space where Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask have found Death Phantom and with the help of Mini-Moon they easily defeat him (are you sure? Because he’s already tricked us twice already). With Death Phantom destroyed the dark crystals on Earth vanish and life and time restore to the planet as do the people. With their work here done Sailor Moon and the others decide it’s time to return to their own time but before they leave they all meet their future shelves (creating a time paradox and dooming us all. If this was a realistic setting). So they all return to the past and Mini-Moon joins them since the Queen wants her younger self to train her into a proper sailor scout.

Final Thoughts

So that was Sailor Moon Crystal. It’s fantastical, phenomenal, spectacular, and out of this world. . .is what I would be calling this anime if I was still in hype mood. Yeah, when I first watched this I was in hype mood and really didn’t notice all the faults of the anime but after my hype mood settled and I really sat down and watched the anime I started to notice all of the problems and mistakes the anime had. While I’m glad the anime gives us a true adaptation of the manga and gets rid of the unnecessary filler it falls short in the other areas. For starters the characters really have no personality. Outside of Usagi and maybe Chib-Usa and Mamuro we really don’t get a chance to explore the other characters all that well. Besides their introduction episode we don’t learn anything else about their personality and character. As a result, the other scouts come across as lesser clones of Usagi all with the same personality and character. Which is a real shame because they got really good VAs in the studio voicing these characters and they don’t take advantage of it. The music is alright but it could have been better. A lot of fans were hoping for remixes from the original anime and at first I didn’t care but as I started to think about it more and tracked the soundtrack online yeah it would have been nice to hear remixes from the original anime. The music was much livelier and more memorable. Much more than I can say for the music used in this anime. Again, I don’t know what happened but once again the soundtrack just feels phoned-in. I hate saying that but that’s what it sounds like to me.

Probably the biggest letdown is the animation. Not only is it weird to look at but there are a number of errors all throughout the anime. Normally I wouldn’t care and would say they were press for time and couldn’t go back to fix it but no this was a bi-weekly anime they had more time than the average anime to go back and fix these errors. It’s honestly embarrassing really. Compare this animation to the animation used in the new Dragonball Z anime and you can just tell that the animators for Sailor Moon just didn’t care. While the animation in the DBZ anime is a little sloppy I would rather watch that animation than the animation for Sailor Moon. I hate to say this but it honestly feels like the producers at Toei didn’t care about this anime. From the director to the producers to the animators nobody cared. The only people that seem to care were the VAs as you can tell they were all fans of Sailor Moon and when they speak their lines you can hear the passion and energy in their voice. Too bad it wasn’t enough to inspire the rest of the cast.

Final Score

The final score for Sailor Moon Crystal is sadly a 3.5/10. I really wanted to like this anime and give it an 8 or possibly a 9. I even felt compelled to give it 4/10 out of pity but I have way too much respect for this series, it’s creator, franchise and fans to pity it. This was an anime that was unfortunately put in the wrong hands as the majority of the people involved didn’t really care about this series. I’ve heard there’s going to be another season coming out soon and they’ve gotten a new director so hopefully things will change for the better. Sailor Moon is a series that has made its mark on anime and manga and will continue to go down in history as being one of the most influential series ever created. Therefore, it deserves the right amount of respect and attention to detail as any big name anime out there. Is Crystal terrible and unwatchable? No, but if you’re looking to get into Sailor Moon it’s not an anime I would recommend you watch. Instead, watch the one from the 90s. While it has lots of fillers and isn’t a faithful adaption to the manga it’s still a good watch and develops its characters and world more. Overall the 90s anime is better in my opinion and the one I recommend you watch first if you’re looking to get into Sailor Moon. Then if you want to see more Sailor Moon check out Crystal for a more faithful adaption of the manga. Toei, you failed once but you still have a chance to redeem yourself and make this series relevant in the world today but the only way you will succeed is to make the necessary changes and put all your heart into this series. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj.
