Hello everyone! Nitsuj here and welcome to the side blog the blogs between the blogs. Happy holidays to everyone out. Winter is here the year is almost over, so you know what that means? It’s time for First Impressions, where we take a look at the anime set to come out at the start of 2023 and give our initial thoughts on them. I’ve been hearing a lot of good rumors about the winter line-up so I’m excited to see what we have coming out. The fall line-up for the most part has been pretty good. The big hits were of course Chainsaw Man and Mob Psycho 100 but we’ve had a few other favorites that everyone likes such as The Eminence in Shadow has been enjoyable. To Your Eternity has been emotional, My Hero Academia has been intense and action-packed since the first episode, SpyxFamily is funny and wholesome, Iruma-kun and Uzaki-san are funny, and Akiba Maid Wars is an idea that shouldn’t work but they are so dedicated to the bit that it works wonderfully. I was also enjoying Golden Kamuy until it went on hiatus. Hopefully, it comes back soon. Well enough talking about the past, let’s talk about the future. These are the Winter Anime 2023 First Impressions.
Vinland Saga S2
So we start off with the anime I’m most excited for this season, Vinland Saga. I loved the first season, it was my second favorite anime of 2019 and I’m excited to see it come back now under the production of MAPPA. Watching it.
Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha S2
Here’s an anime I’m surprised to see people excited for but at the same time happy to see make a return. Watching it.
Tokyo Revengers S2
More returns. I didn’t really get into this anime but I’ve heard good things about it. Skipping it.
Bungou Stray Dogs S4
Here’s an anime that’ll make Mira and Shizuku happy. The dogs return for their 4th season. If you haven’t watched it yet definitely check it out. It’s like Golden Kamuy, a very underrated series that deserves attention. Watching it.
Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro 2nd Attack
Second season. Let’s go~. I started reading the manga and really enjoyed it.
BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense. Season 2
This is another anime I didn’t really watch but I have seen clips of the anime, understand the premise and it’s actually a pretty fun and enjoyable show. I’m happy to see it get a second season and if I have time I’ll check it out.
NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a
Here’s another anime people are hyped for. If you’ve played the game/s you know how good this series is. Watching it. Don’t know if they’re going to do their own story or follow the story from the game.
In/Spectre Season 2
The supernatural comedy returns. Not interested.
Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!
A boyish girl tells her childhood friend she likes him but it flies over his head and he only sees her as a bro and not a girl. I might check it out.
Danmachi S4 2nd Course
The second half of season 4. Things got crazy near the end of the first half. Can Bell and his friends survive? We’ll have to wait and see. Watching it.
Spy Classroom
A group of hopeless spies must conquer an impassable test while trying to best their genius instructor. This sounds promising. Watching it.
The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten
A common boy who lives alone befriends the most popular girl in school who lives next door to him. After helping her out she agrees to come do his housework to repay his kindness and a budding relationship blossoms between the two. I might watch it.
Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai
A quiet boy befriends a popular girl. Not watching.
By the Grace of the Gods Season 2
Second season of an anime I recently reviewed. While not the best it was heartfelt and relaxing to watch so I’m watching it.
Trigun Stampede
There’s been a lot of hype surrounding this series. The popular anime from the 90s makes a return with an all-new original story. Watching it.
The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague
A workplace romance between a cool girl and a mysterious guy who is secretly a yuki-onnas. Skipping it.
The Fruit of Evolution 2: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made
Well here’s an anime I’m not too excited to see. Don’t want to watch it, but I want to give my thoughts on it.
Ayakashi Triangle
From the artist of To Love-Ru and Black Cat. The story focuses on a young ninja who goes around exorcising spirits and protecting his childhood friend. But things change when a spirit cat shows up. Watching it.
Inu ni Nattara Suki na Hito ni Hirowareta
A boy mysteriously gets turned into a dog and becomes the pet of his crush who dotes on him. Might watch it.
Onii-chan wa Oshimai!
A boy gets turned into a girl by his mad scientist of a little sister. Not interested.
Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire
A king gets reborn into the future as a female knight. I might watch it.
Saikyou Onmyouji no Isekai Tenseiki
The world’s strongest exorcist gets reincarnated in another world where he vows to find happiness. Might watch it.
Endo and Kobayashi Live! The Latest on Tsundere Villianess Lieselotte
A boy and a girl play an otome game featuring a devious villainess. The boy says she’s misunderstood while the girl thinks she’s a dastardly villain. Little do they know their conversation is heard by the game’s love interest and will lead him down a different path than what was intended.
Isekai Nonbiri Nouka
Reincarnated as a farmer. I might watch it.
Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou no Mahou Kakumei
A princess and a noblewoman study magic together. I might watch it.
Ooyukiumi no Kaina
In a world of snow, two people will meet and set off a chain of events that will change the world. Watching it.
Buddy Daddies
No information as of yet, but by the looks of it, a buddy cop story. Put that in the maybe column for now.
High Card
Powerful deck cards that give people supernatural characters. I’ll check it out.
Kyuuketsuki Sugu Shinu 2
Second season. Not interested.
Hyouken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu
A boy with seemingly no talent for magic enters a magic academy and might be holding a secret. I might watch it.
Ningen Fushin no Boukensha-tachi ga Sekai wo Sukuu you desu
A veteran adventurer who was an accountant gets accused of embezzlement and kicked out by his party. He soon finds other adventurers and together they form the ultimate party. Watching it.
Rougo ni Sonaete Isekai de 8-manmai no Kinka wo Tamemasu
A girl who has a string of bad luck falls into financial trouble and gains the ability to travel between her world and another world. With this ability, she comes up with a plan to save 1 billion yen in each world. I might watch it.
Mononogatari
Two people with different views on spirits come together. I might watch it.
Benriya Saitou-san, Isekai ni Iku
A handyman gets reincarnated in another world where for the first time he feels valued. Watching it.
Kaiko sareta Ankoku Heishi (30-dai) no Slow na Second Life
A human of the dark lord’s army gets fired and moves to a human village to use his skills. I might check it out.
Tsurune: Tsunagari no Issha
Second season of archery boys. Not watching.
Campfire Cooking in Another World with my Absurd Skill
Salaryman goes to another world and makes modern food. I’ll check out the first episode and see where it goes.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War
An anime based off the Trials of Cold Steel series. Never really got into this series, so I’ll skip the anime.
REVENGER
Two samurais head out to exact revenge on those who destroyed a clan. I will check it out.
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale
In a world where fairies are sold into slavery, a girl seeks to befriend her new fairy bodyguard. However the bodyguard wants nothing to do with her and their relationship will be put to the test when he escorts her through a dangerous area. Not interested.
The Fire Hunter
Outside of magical barriers lies a world overrun by fiery beasts known as Flame Demons, and the only ones who can protect humanity are the Fire Hunters. In the dark woods where the beasts roam, a young villager is rescued from an attack by one of these skilled hunters. But their meeting was no accident, and a new destiny begins. Watching it.
Ars no Kyojuu
Humans fight against giants and a group of hunters will uncover the secrets of the world. I will check it out.
The tale of outcasts
A girl and a beastman look for a place to live in peace. Not interested.
TECHNOROID: OVERMIND
Idol groups compete against each other in the tower of Babel. Not interested.
D4DJ All Mix
Second season of an idol anime. Not watching.
Mou Ippon!
Judo girls. Not interested.
Majutsushi Orphen Hagure Tabi: Urbanrama-hen
Third season of the hit light novel. Not interested.
UniteUp!
Boy idol anime. Not watching.
Cardfight!! Vanguard: will+Dress Season 2
Cardfight anime. Not watching.
FLAGLIA: Natsuyasumi No Monogatari
A mixed-media project spanning anime and a musical. The anime side of the project is set in the present day while the musical is set in the Middle Ages era. Sounds interesting but not watching it.
Final Thoughts
