(Nitsuj): Hello and welcome to Project Nitsuj. We’re back after last week’s debacle.
(Shizuku): My bad.
(Nitsuj): So let’s continue the war between the heroes and villains.
Episodes 12-16
(Shizuku): Episode 12 starts with Dabi regaining consciousness and escaping using Shoto’s own move. He then calls Skeptic asking him for Endeavor’s location so that he can go kill him. Skeptic is in the middle of hacking into U.A as well as the underground facility where the citizens are being kept. Back with Katsuki (*Shizuku begins to breath heavily* (Nitsuj): Woosah, Shizuku. Woosah), the hero Edgeshot uses his quirk, Foldabody, which allows him to flatten, stretch, and thin his body and limbs into a thread-like, razor-sharp state, moving at supersonic speeds, enters the body of Katsuki to repair his heart despite the possibility that this could kill him (scene here: https://youtu.be/0P0VFTVOyGA?si=eIwM0X-EcSLJ0pb-). Mirio and the other heroes keep Shigaraki distracted long enough for Izuku to slingshot onto the battlefield (he is here bitches!).
Not much to say about episode 13. Izuku sees the state Katsuki is in and his quirks go out of control, but Mirio calms him down telling him that no one has died yet (scenes here: https://youtu.be/NPM_YCTJU_Y?si=_z15ewSmYDmlAIdY and https://youtu.be/7q4ZMOzhbTk?si=t2AhFvKL-4FtxEuI). Shigaraki attacks Izuku, but he counters with Gearshift, the quirk that belonged to OFA’s second user. This quirk allows him to move faster than the speed of sound. Izuku overwhelms Shigaraki much to the shock of AFO who is trying to meld his mind with Shigaraki so that he can takeover, but Shigaraki is not being cooperative (https://youtu.be/CH1j4C04_l0?si=s5Oz1__ubd9nM4Q-). When AFO fought the original second user of OFA, the quirk was weak and he was able to easily kill him. Thanks to the multiple users, the quirk was allowed to grow stronger with time. Izuku manages to deliver severe damage to Shigaraki’s body and turns the fight around.
In episodes 14-15 we focus on Spinner and his army of heteromorphs who were discriminated against just because of their forms. Spinner was one of these people. He was bullied, mocked, and treated as a monster just because he looked like a humanoid reptile. Shoji and Koda take center stage here (Shoji especially) as they understand their plight. Shoji was discriminated against because of how he looked in the countryside. Koda grew up in the city who were a lot more tolerant and didn’t experience what Shoji and Spinner went through but understands where they’re coming from thanks to his parents who spoke to him about this. Rather than be ruled by hatred, Shoji chooses to move his kind in a better direction. They have to show that they are better than this (Nitsuj: The problem with an eye for eye logic is that sooner or later everybody goes blind. When that happens, you’ll truly be blind to all of the injustices going on in the world. Instead of helping the cause, you’ll be the reason why there’s one in the first place). Shoji’s words manage to reach the other heteromorphs, but Spinner rejects it and the two fight (scene here: https://youtu.be/_M9dcgbXNJc?si=GZjyuV46SdYKAVp0). Despite Shoji getting in a good shot, Spinner still stands and makes it into the hospital. As the other heteromorphs enter the hospital and see how united the staff are to protect the patients, they realize that this is wrong and stand down. Shoji’s words managed to touch the hearts of everyone there not just heteromorphs but normal people as well. Present Mic manages to take down Spinner who made it to Kurogiri. However, Spinner manages to use his remaining strength to give Kurogiri Shigaraki’s remaining stuffed hand allowing him to wake up and he opens warp gates. He transports Dabi to Endeavor’s location along with Toga who transformed into Twice to start the Sad Man’s Parade.
In episode 16, Ochaco and Tsu follow Toga through the warp gate only to see the heroes fighting off the infinite Twices. Dabi is finally reunited with his dad and the two fight (picking up where they left off). The Twices also appear on the fortress and undo Aizawa’s effect on Shigaraki allowing his real personality to shine through. Skeptic was able to hack into their system but gets countered by La Brava who leaked his location and he gets captured by the heroes. Those within the fortress receive help from Gentle who we find out prevented every prisoner from escaping the prison he was contained in during AFO’s assaults. With the help of La Brava, he’s able to stop the fortress from descending and then Nagant shows up where she snipes off one of Shigaraki’s hands.
Episodes 17-21
(Nitsuj): So episode 17 is a little sporadic. AFO tries to reclaim control of Shigaraki’s body but has no luck. Izuku and Shigaraki take their fight outside of the fortress and into the world. Kurogiri is having a mental battle with himself as Shirakumo is still in there. When he sees Aizawa and Mic in danger, he uses a gate to teleport them and himself far away. Meanwhile, AFO decides to reach Shigaraki and complete the transfer before it’s too late but is caught off guard by Tokoyami who pummels him using the full force of his quirk. Toga transforms into the other members of the League and use their powers as well but sees that she can’t use them and falls into despair (scene here: https://youtu.be/zsxX8zgvciE?si=2ibUF_Z4swcn5EgT).
Not much to say about episode 18. It begins with Ochaco spotting the real Toga and going to meet with her (Shizuku: It’s about time these two had their talk). Meanwhile, the other heroes fight against AFO but he keeps powering through them. Even a face turned Gigantomachia can’t stop him and gets killed for his betrayal (scene here: https://youtu.be/8GQ7sG6h2_c?si=N_rYuTUv1lDvhxy3).
Episode 19 focus on Shoto and his family as they confront Dabi. With the help of Tenya, Shoto is able to reach the island Endeavor and his family are on. As Endeavor and Dabi fight, the counter-force team say Dabi is on the verge of exploding from overusing his quirk and will incinerate anything within a 5km radius. Endeavor realizes that the reason Dabi was able to use Shoto’s move is because he willingly manifested Rei’s ice quirk within him (so all this time he could use both ice and fire. Bet Endeavor is feeling like a jackass now). Recognizing the faults that led them both to this point, Endeavor prepares to sacrifice himself and Dabi to save everyone on the island. Before he can blast themselves into the air, they get stopped by Rei, Fuyumi, and Natsuo who use their ice quirks to cool them down and even get their own burn marks (Shizuku: Now they all match). Dabi realizes that he’s finally getting what he always wanted, his family’s attention (now he can die happy). Shoto and Tenya arrive where Shoto completely neutralizes the fire using his ice to save Dabi and stop him from exploding. Endeavor apologizes profusely to his barely conscious son and to the rest of his family for his mistakes (scene here: https://youtu.be/b5GM-mwp0mI?si=v63BlKS60io1y_mo).
In the final two episodes of the season we focus on Ochaco and Toga. The Twices continue to overwhelm the heroes and once they get their blood, they transform into the heroes meaning it’s now impossible to discern who’s a friend or foe. Ochaco attempts to speak to Toga, but she says it’s too late. Toga recalls her childhood and how she tried to be normal only to be reprimanded by her parents and be reminded of her inability to fit in. All she wanted to do was live her life and be herself. Toga manages to stab Ochaco in the abdomen, but Ochaco still reaches out to her saying she wants to understand her. She confesses to being jealous of Toga’s smile which overwhelms her emotionally, and then Ochaco goes through a quirk awakening where she’s able to make all the heroes and Twices float in the air. Ochaco confesses why she wanted to become a hero and even admits that she’s in love with Izuku (tell us something we don’t know). Just as Toga is about to tearfully stab her she stops herself and the two girls finally become. . .friends? I don’t know (Shizuku: I think acquaintances works best here. Scene here: https://youtu.be/j4cRbkxZpYQ?si=4S4Q4Gs_qinOvT-d). In order to save Ochaco’s life, Toga swallows some of Ochaco’s blood to transform into her and do a blood transfusion. Ochaco tries to get her to stop so she doesn’t die, but Toga wants to show her feelings for her are genuine. Toga apologizes for hurting and thanks her for everything. Ochaco soon passes out and Toga dies peacefully wondering what could have been if they had met sooner and talked with each other (scene here: https://youtu.be/bZtniVArufY?si=uCJRBH3nziWZzoyQ). We wrap up the season with AFO flying to reach Shigaraki when all of a sudden he’s stopped by All Might who is ready to fight him one more time (let’s run it back).
Current Thoughts
(Shizuku): And that was the seventh season. There’s not much to say about the season. It’s an action packed and emotionally charged season from beginning to end. The season does a good job giving us closure on some of the villain’s stories. Toga and Ochaco finally becoming friends, Dabi confronting his family, and even giving Spinner a good story about discrimination and his desire to become a hero and help out his dear friend Shigaraki. Actually, that’s the one thing I do like about the League of Villains. Shigaraki doesn’t treat them as underlings. They were all legit friends and cared for each other. They were united under a cause and were determined to make it come true. This is one of the few times where I honestly felt bad when the villains each lost.
(Nitsuj): Aside from that, we finally get the answer to who the traitor was this season. Yuga being the traitor was unexpected and a good twist. I honestly, wasn’t expecting it to be him. Like Shizuku said, this was an action-packed season and the animation does a good job showing off the action and fights between the characters. While some episodes have better focus than others, the action and suspense in this season never let up and kept you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what was going to happen next.
(Shizuku): Well guys, we’ve only got one more season to review. So tune in next week for the finale.
(Nitsuj): Thanks for reading and we’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj.
