Project #29: Baka and Test season 2

Hello and welcome to Project Nitsuj. Well, seeing as how last week I reviewed Baka and Test, one of the funniest animes that I have ever seen I’m still in the mood to laugh some more at the funny and comedic antics of class F with Baka and Test season 2. After the success and popularity of the first season a second was green lighted, in fact the second season was green lighted before the first season ended and to be honest I don’t blame them. Baka and Test was not only funny but it showed everyone that even if you’re not the best when it comes to academics it’s okay, academics aren’t everything, and everyone has a chance to succeed in the world. After hyping up everyone with the 2 OVAs the second season premiered in the summer of 2011 and boy did it deliver. Let’s see if F can still stand for victory, this is Baka and Test season 2.

Opening and Ending theme

The opening for this season is “Kimi + Nazo + Watashi de JUMP!!” by Larvel Stage Planning, interesting name. I will say the animation for this opening is a lot better and cooler than the first however I’m not really that big a fan of the song. It’s not bad or sung horribly I just prefer the opening from the first season over this one. “Eureka Baby” by Natsuko Aso, once again I’m not fan of the song mostly because of the melody of it, it just seems slow at times and out of place. The animation for this ending is also a downgrade from the first ending. While the animation for the first ending was more realistic and looked like we entered a completely different anime the animation for the second ending makes it look like we just got done watching a preschool anime.

Episodes 1-4

In the first episode the gang along with Aiko and Shouko go for an overnight stay at the beach (why aren’t Miharu and Yuuko there with them you ask? Well, it’s because nobody really cares about Miharu and why would we need Yuuko when we got Hideyoshi who is obviously the better choice of the twins). At the beach Hideyoshi tries to make everyone see that he is in fact a man (oh Hideyoshi you’re in denial. You’re not a man or a woman, you’re a Hideyoshi a boy trapped in the body of a female) but when he approaches the beach in his male swim trunks (he actually got the right outfit this time. How he got it wrong and didn’t question the outfit at the swimming pool in season one is anyone’s guess) the lifeguard mistakes him as a woman and forces him to wear a jacket to cover his chest (scene here: https://youtu.be/TC5InOs6gtg, and the mystery of seeing Hiedyoshi’s chest continues). The girls get hit on by the local guys and make it seem like they get hit on all the time to make Yuuji and Aki jealous but it has no effect on them (well of course not because 1) they’re always around you so they know that what you’re saying is BS and 2) even though the local guys are hitting on you, unless they actually see it they won’t get jealous because of the fact that you came back and didn’t stick with them is proof that you weren’t interested in them. Boom! There you go ladies, a free lesson on men. Take it, memorize it, and learn it). After the girls say Yuuji and Aki can’t pick up girls they take offence to that and go off to hit on other girls which all turn into failures (it’s Persona 3 all over again, only this time there’s no MC to help them or a robot girl to hit on). At the end they do find two girls who actually fall for their pickup lines but it turns out to be Shouko (dyed her hair a different color) and Muttsuriini (forced to disguised as a woman. What is with the men cross-dressing in this anime?). Over the intercom we hear Minami and Himeji speak about how they’re going to punish Aki (why? You guys were egging him on to do it, the way I see it you have no one to blame but. . . oh screw it, it’s woman logic, I have a better chance at negotiating with a terrorist).

In episode 2 Yuuji and Aki wake up from their near death experience to find that the girls aren’t angry at all with them and are in fact acing very nice and friendly with them (https://youtu.be/4F4qzPbcFiA). They go to a festival being held in town where we see a miss yukata beauty pageant is taking place and since the girls are still pissed at the boys they force them to dress as girls and enter the beauty pageant (full scene here: https://youtu.be/e_TOuQ9JICo, only 2 episodes into this season and we already got cross-dressing out the wazhoo). After the contest they gather on the beach for a BBQ and are about to taste more of Himeji’s cooking but they get out of. However, unbeknownst to them Himeji made breakfast the next day which almost sends the boys cross the River of Styx (say hi to Ai Enma for me while you’re over there, she and I did some business together in the past and I want her to know we’re still friends).

Episode 3 is split into two parts. In the first part Yuuko is asked to sing the school anthem for a promotion video but the problem is unlike Hideyoshi who is good at singing and performing in plays Yuuko has no talent for it which often upsets her. So for a day they do anime cliché 59 in which Hideyoshi becomes Yuuko and Yuuko becomes Hideyoshi. She gives Hideyoshi a mini microphone to keep an eye on him and listen in on his conversations. In the conversations we see Hideyoshi unintentionally make his sister out to be (and I am quoting here) “a Shotacon who likes girls and rarely wears panties” (sounds like she’s in to some freaky stuff). At the end of the day she also in her own accidental way makes it seem like Hideyoshi has breast that are still growing making him seem more like a girl than a boy. Rather than get upset and blame each other for what happen they decide to cut their losses and just let it go (whatever floats your boats ya 3-way pervert and unknown gender). In the second part of the episode we see how Aki and Hazuki met. The story takes place about a year before the first season, Aki and the gang are first year students and Hazuki wants to buy Minami a stuffed-animal of the fox Noin (the boyfriend I assume of Fi) because she’s been feeling down since coming to Japan (I’ll come back to this later) but it costs too much money and Aki is determined to help her. The next day in school Aki and the boys (at this time they weren’t friends with Minami or Himeji) come up with a plan to get back all of the electronic devices that got confiscated from Iron Man (you know like, ipods, cameras, props and costumes, and PFPs. Yes, PFPs apparently exist in this universe as well). Aki drops water on Iron Man and gets the keys to his locker to get back their stuff and also takes some old books since he thinks the school will throw them away. This turns out to be more than enough money to buy the doll and Aki goes to Hazuki where we see that behind Aki’s back Himeji (who has been shadowing them) gave Hazuki a small Noin doll and he gives Hazuki the giant Noin doll to give to Minami. As a reward Hazuki kisses Aki on the cheek and promises to marry him when she gets older (Huh? I’m strangely having flashbacks of the Persona 3 Hangman social link during this scene). In the end we see that Iron Man finds out about Aki stealing his stuff and as punishment turns Aki into a probationary student.

In episode 4 we get another 2 part episode. In the first part the guys are playing BS or Bullshit as some people like to call it (how to play: https://youtu.be/KeONSVgN8x4) when Himeji comes in and decides to watch them. After eating some alcoholic chocolate accidently given to her by a teacher she starts to act strange, knocks out Hideyoshi and Muttsuriini, plays with Aki and Yuuji in which Shouko comes out of nowhere and decides to join the game and they turn it into guys vs girls where if the losing team has to strip each time they lose. As you would of guess Aki and Yuuji continue to lose until Himeji decides that instead of having them strip naked she wants them to wear a school girl outfit instead (what is up with the cross-dressing in this season? Seriously, half the time I keep expecting Tim Curry to come out of nowhere and start singing Sweet Transvestite with the rest of the cast from The Rocky Horror Picture Show). Not wanting to feel the shame of dressing like a girl Aki and Yuuji run throughout the school in their underwear trying to escape. In the second half the gang is asked by the principal to test out the new summoning test field with Shouko and Aiko along with Himeji on standby in case things go berserk like last time and once again Miharu and Yuuko are left out (like I said nobody cares about them). They summon their avatars and to their surprise are able to actually talk, have a free will of their own, and act like little kids. They also begin revealing the secrets of their summoners such as Hideyoshi’s reveals that Hideyoshi receives a love confession from middle school boys 3 times a month (he seriously should hook upwith Makoto from Idolm@ster they would so understand each other), Muttsuriini’s acts perverted and wants to see what Aiko is hiding uder her skirt which embarrasses Muttsuriini (I don’t know why Muttsuriini would be embarrass by this when everyone already knows that), Minami’s clings to Aki and almost reveals that Minami likes him (she has the cutest out of all of them), Yuuji and Aki’s act honest in their pervertedness, and Himeji also shows that she does in fact have a perverted mind just like the others. This scene gets a whole lot of laughs and I have to say the avatars do sound and act cute, the only downside is we never see Shouko summon her, I was kind of curious to see what she was hiding (full scene here: https://youtu.be/gErI_cE9TN4).

Episodes 5-10

Episodes 5-7 are my favorite episodes and probably the best episodes in the entire series. The 2nd years students are getting ready for an academic training camp but the day before the camp Aki and Yuuji are blackmailed by an unknown assailant. Aki receives pictures of him in a maid outfit from the OVAs (that’s your blackmail? Dude, everyone saw you dressed as a girl at the festival this is nothing new. Hell, if anything I think everybody prefers you as a girl instead of a boy) and Yuuji finds a recording of the confession he gave to Shouko in the OVAs on her ipod which she intends to show her father as proof of her engagement to Yuuji (now that, is good blackmailing right there. Aki, your problem is no big deal. Yuuji, you have my support). After a bit of investigation from Muttsuriini, we find out that the culprit blackmailing them is a girl who has a burn mark on her butt. As they get this information the girls bust in and accuse them of planting a mini camera in the bathing area (to be fair their accusations are understandable, Aki and Yuuji are both known perverts and Muttsuriini is. . . Muttsuriini) and punish the boys (minus Hideyoshi). After the punishment Yuuji and Aki decide that if they’re gonna be accused of the crime they might as well do it and find their blackmailer in the process (I can only see this resulting in failure but seeing you guys get hurt and punished is gonna be funny, carry on). The Chemistry and Physical education teacher stop Yuuji, Muttsuriini, and Hideyoshi with their avatars leaving Aki to take on Iron Man who for various reasons (that we never hear) doesn’t have an avatar but that doesn’t stop him from punching the hell out of Aki’s avatar and beating him (Iron Man wins! Flawless victory!). The other 3 get captured and the first day of trip ends.

The next day the guys suspect that Aiko is the culprit since they see her handle electronic devices well (https://youtu.be/6gxbQfFCBkE). Later that night they try to peep on the girls bathing again only this time they get the rest of the boys from class F to join them (and they wonder why girls don’t talk to them). A few of them hold off the teachers and it seems the plan will work but the girls also find out about the plan and get in the way but Muttsuriini and his team hold them off (stand your ground man, we’ll peep at the girls no matter what or die trying) and we also find out that Aiko isn’t the one blackmailing them (well of course not have you seen the girl, she practically gets off on people watching her. She is a horny freak). Iron Man does a clothesline from Hell on one of the students to stop Aki’s advancement but the rest of the boys tell Aki to retreat since his avatar is the only one who can defeat Iron Man and they all get remedial lessons as punishment (again, if this was a normal school, they would all be suspended or possibly thrown in jail for trying to peep). The next day since having a large group worked out so well yesterday they decide to recruit boys from the other classes to join their cause. Class A, B, and C refuse but classes D and E are on board with the plan (and in case you forgot this whole peeping business is all for finding a blackmailer *laughs*. I’m sorry but this is just hilarious, I got a smile as big as The Joker’s right now). That night the girls get the jump on them and a war ensues the entire inn they’re staying at. The guys are confronted, cornered, and outmatched and they surrender and get on their knees to beg for forgiveness except for Aki, Yuuji, Muttsuriini and Hideyoshi because they know that no amount of apologizing will save them (brave men. . . I salute you).

Not wanting to give up the guys bring Himeji to their room and take pictures of her to motivate classes A, B, and C to join their cause (again, this is all for the purpose of catching a blackmailer). Later on that night because of a text message, Minami comes to Aki’s room to which Aki believes that she’s upset about the message and is there to kill him to which we get this amusing (scene here: https://youtu.be/qsHh9lemmKQ, again with the cross-dressing in this anime. . . and did they just do a shout out to Ai Enma from Hell Girl with that outfit Aki was wearing?). The final night arrives and the inn has once again become a war zone only this time the boys from class A, B, and C have joined the fight (to victory~). The main group reaches the hallway to the bath where they each fight a teacher and manage to win (also, shout out to Muttsuriini in this scene going from epic to badass with a score of over 700 in Health and Physical education that easily outscores the teacher and Aiko). After Aki beats Iron Man (by nailing him in the nads) the blackmailer reveals herself to be Miharu (and I’m not gonna lie I totally wasn’t expecting her to be the culprit. I mean, she’s a side character, we rarely see her, and there were no hints to it being her, this was a good setup). Yuuji knocks her out and along with the rest of the boys take their prize of peeking in on the girls bathing only to discover that the only person bathing is the principal (REALLY!? THAT WASN’T OBVIOUS!? YOU DIDN’T SEE ALL THE GIRLS TRYING TO STOP FROM PEEPING!? YOU GUYS REALLY ARE IDIOTS). As a result of this all of the 2nd year boys are suspended from school for a week (well, that’ll be a good story for the front page). After the credits we see the boys return to school where Himeji apologizes to Aki for treating him like a peeping tom (why? It’s true) and Minami welcomes him back by giving him her first kiss right in front of Himeji (scene here: https://youtu.be/hfeFu1WaCOA).

In episode 8 that kiss somehow sends us to the past where we see Minami coming to Japan from Germany with her parents because she didn’t want Hazuki to be lonely. Throughout the episode we see how she has trouble fitting in because she can’t keep up with the language and often says the wrong thing which upsets people (I can sympathize with that. Back in college I spent about a month studying in Mexico and let me tell you, even if you understand the basics of a language, when you’re around people speaking it 24/7 it can be difficult to keep up with them). We also see how she meets Yuuji, Hideyoshi, Muttsuriini, and of course Aki and we also see how these four guys instantly became friends (male friendship: just put us in a room and we’ll instantly get along with each other). Aki tries to start a conversation with her by speaking in France (he thought he was speaking German) to get across to Minami. He keeps repeating the line “Tu ne voudrais pas devenir mon amie” to her everytime he sees her and she thinks he’s making fun of her. She finally decides to translate what he’s saying and with an English dictionary she finds out that Aki was asking her if she could be his friend (and I’m not gonna lie I almost shed a tear at this part in the episode because that is so heart-warming and nice of Aki. I know he got the language wrong but still he actually took the time and effort to go out of his way, memorize the saying and learn how to pronounce it, saw that Minami had trouble fitting in, and tried to befriend her when everyone else was ignoring her. That is a very nice thing to do and he did all of this for the sole purpose of helping Minami fit in and let her know that she has a friend in Japan). Because of this Minami falls for Aki and at the end of the episode they become friends.

In episode 9 we return to the present with Minami still kissing Aki (longest kiss ever). The FFF come and knock him out because their jealous of him kissing a girl and kidnap him where they sentence him to bungee jump out of a plane without a parachute (these guys seriously need to be in every school in America. These guys are hilarious, they are literally the incarnation of jealous high school boys who are either unpopular or just can’t get a girlfriend). While this is all going Himeji is still in shock that Minami likes Aki just like her (really!? She didn’t know? She didn’t question why Minami got mad like her whenever Aki was doing something perverted or hitting on other girls? I’m beginning to see why she’s in class F). The guys get together and find out that Miharu (who is jealous of Aki and Minami) along with the other girls from Class D are trying to start a war with class F and since the boys haven’t taken recovery test that’ll lose for sure and they come up with a plan to show that Minami and Aki aren’t dating. Aki meets up with Minami and confesses that the e-mail was a mistake and she takes it well. . . in a sense. . .she strangled him. With that misunderstanding settle the war with class D is avoided however class B is talking about declaring war on class F and thus the only way to avoid the war with B is to have a war with D where they can recover their test scores and force B to back off. So they setup an event where Aki and Minami pretend to be a couple and confess their love to each other on the school roof (I would have picked the school fountain but then again the sun is setting and the mood will be nice) with Himeji witnessing the confession and pretending to be jealous to make it look real. On the roof Aki notices that Himeji has a wiretap planted on her back collar by Miharu (where are they getting these wiretaps? Are the police just handing these out for free or something because I would like some too?). Aki runs off after Himeji to remove the wiretap leaving Minami behind where she finally confesses that she does in fact love Aki.

Picking up where episode 9 left off we start off episode 10 with Minami still mad at Aki and tired of him treating Himeji like a princess and treating her like one of the guys instead of like a girl like Himeji. After the fake confession plan fails, Yuuji comes up with a new plan where they’ll have a meeting with class D and anger Miharu into declaring war. They also start a rumor that class D is preparing to challenge class B and Nemoto sends one of his classmates to confirm it but Muttsuriini disposes of him easily with the help of Himeji’s food (https://youtu.be/YHUy2589hDs, the next lead character for Assassin’s Creed folks). The plan works but Yuuji gets taken away by Shouko who is fooled by Nemoto into believing that Yuuji’s mom has collapsed which leaves the negotiations up to Aki and Minami. They go to the negotiations where Miharu’s harsh but true words about the relationship between Aki and Minami causes Minami to run out crying but in the end Aki manages to provoke her and the war between the 2 classes happens but rather than an all-out brawl between the classes they just have a showdown between the class reps where Miharu shows up and says she wants to fight Aki one on one. They fight but the rest of class F shows up and use their avatars to beat the hell out of Aki’s avatar (which in turn causes him bodily pain because he’s a probationary student. Man, that feedback really does come back to haunt him doesn’t it? I wonder. . . hey Chibi-Isis. *Chibi-Isis appears* (Chibi-Isis): Yes Nii-chan? (Nitsuj): *flicks her forehead *(Chibi-Isis): Oww! * flies off with tears in eyes* (Nitsuj): . . .I guess not) because this was a part of Yuuji’s plan to negotiate a cease-fire between classes which Miharu accepts. After everything is settled Muttsuriini takes out a recording from the negotiations where Aki reveals his true feelings about Minami (he likes her). Minami overhears the recording and runs home blushing where she tells Hazuki that she has fallen hard for someone (wow, Aki’s confession was that good? He may be idiot but he’s got a way with words just like Keima).

Episodes 11-13

In episode 11 we travel back in time again as Yuuji and Shouko reminisce about their time in the 5th grade (did they steal Doc Brown’s Delorean or something?). In the episode we see that in the past Yuuji was seen as a prodigy child scoring high on test, serious and diligent, and always aiming high while looking down on others because of his ego (man, he really changed throughout the years). We also see how Shouko had a hard time fitting in because of her family heritage, good looks, intelligence, and athletics but still saw Yuuji as one of her friends even though he was mean to her because he was the only person who treated her equally when no else did. There’s also a subplot about some 6th graders who are jealous that Yuuji scored higher on a test then them and since they can’t touch him plot to vandalize his shoe locker (and they come up with this plan right in front of him. No wonder he scored higher than them, these guys are idiots). Yuuji plays along with their plan and sets up a trap to get them in trouble but Shouko oversees them vandalizing his school clothes and she tries to stop them but she trips and damages one of the 6th graders clothes so they decide to mess up her clothes. Yuuji sees this and comes to the conclusion that it’s his fault Shouko is in danger but is too afraid to help her (all that big talk and attitude and you can’t even save your friend. Pathetic, you are no better than Shinji from Evangelion). While he’s deciding on what to do he talks to his older form about how he knows what he must do and that this is his chance to be the hero he’s always wanted to be (become vengeance, become the night, become Yuujiman*thunder sound*). He finally mans-up and takes on the 6th graders allowing Shouko to escape (I retract my Shinji statement). He returns home and like a man tells his mom that nothing happened but Shouko is secretly there and tells his mom everything and that when she gets older she’s going to marry Yuuji (or force him into marriage against his will via threat but still marriage).

Moving on to episode 12 we see that the avatars have transformed into monsters (*looks around room* where did this come from). Yeah, we just kinda get thrown into this, there’s was no lead in or story as to why the avatars are like this; this is literally the first scene we see in the episode. We see that Aki’s avatar is the headless knight (get it? Because he’s an idiot), Yuuji’s is a werewolf, Muttsuriini’s is a vampire (not one of those suck-ass sparkling one’s I’m talking those cool classic ones. If he had been like Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate then he would have been fucking awesome), Hideyoshi’s is a nekomata (ghost cat girl. More cross-dressing? I haven’t seen this much cross-dressing since I saw photos of a con. Speaking of which, I’ve never been to a con before, I’ve always wanted to go to one but I’ve either been too busy or it’s too far away. If there’s a con going on in the Cincinnati area or within Ohio let me know because I be more than interested to come check it out), Himeji’s is Morrigan from Darkstalkers (the creator of Baka and Test must have been a huge fan of Darkstalkers. Me, I was more of a Tekken fan but I will praise the game for its creativeness in the characters), and Minami’s is a Whomp from Super Mario 64 (scene here: https://youtu.be/CzLg2XE3jME, if that thing starts ranting about getting walked on I will knock it over and ground pound it). After summoning their avatars the Wario and Waluigi wannabes come in and start a fight with Aki and Yuuji but are stopped by Miharu and Kubo whose avatars are fallen gods (gods who have fallen from the right path and try to get others to join them). They do a good job at beating up the class 3 guys but the principle comes in and tells them to save their scores for the upcoming test of courage (so we’re tossing aside studying to partake in a test of courage because you screwed up the system again? This is the best school ever) the school is hosting in which the year 3 students will try to scare the year 2 students in a haunted house, participants will go in groups of two and if they make a noise louder than a set volume that pair is disqualified. The students will fight using avatars and the only way for year 2 to win is to defeat the ghost and goblins at the 4 checkpoints and reach the goal (scene here: https://youtu.be/cAvhu8wrmKY).

We start off the final episode with Aki and Minami going into the haunted house but she can’t stand the ghost and faints (just look at them. If they’re anything like Super Mario Bros. if you look directly at the ghost they’ll become frighten, cover their faces, and won’t follow you). Kubo and Miharu reach the final checkpoint where they face the wannabes and lose. With them defeated the only pairs left are Yuuji and Shouko and Aki (since he technically didn’t lose) and Himeji. In the house Himeji gets mad at Aki for not noticing her shortcomings and treating her like a princess all the time (wait, you want him to notice your shortcomings? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?). The lights get turned off and they get separated with Aki and Yuuji now a group and Himeji and Shouko a group. Himeji and Shouko reach the final checkpoint with Aki and Yuuji following behind where the wannabes bad-mouth Aki and Yuuji because they’re idiots who always cause trouble but Himeji stands up for them but gets disqualified because she speaks to loudly. After hearing the girls they love stand up for them they decide to get serious and take them down. They lead the two outside the haunted house and into a math field where their scores are low because of the fight in episode 11 with Kubo and Miharu and Aki and Yuuji are able to beat them and win the test of courage for year 2. As a penalty for losing Aki has them apologize to Himeji for their harsh words and she drops a subtle hint to Aki that she likes him and kisses him on the cheek and we end with a chase throughout the school (scene here: https://youtu.be/1rKojvoqXUg).

Final Thoughts

This was a great season of Baka and Test. While the first season was more focused on the summon test wars, the second season turns things around and instead focuses on the characters and their relationships and they do a good job at it. They show how relationships came about, questions we had in the first season are addressed, and even though they didn’t have a lot of wars it was still funny and they show once again that grades aren’t the only thing that matter in life. This season’s mvp was definitely Minami as we see how her relationship with Aki started and how even though Aki can be stupid and treat her like one of the guys he does recognize Minami’s charm and might in fact like Minami more than Himeji. This season really did open my eyes to how Minami is and has me rooting for her to end up with Aki at the end. The best episodes this season as I said before are episodes 5-7 for its very good mystery, funny moments, and the fact that this all came about just because the guys wanted to find a blackmailer is hilarious. I also did like the Yuuji and Shouko episode as this is one of my favorite anime couples; I like how we got to see how their relationship came about, it was interesting to see Yuuji have a conversation with his younger self and see the difference between how he was as a child and how he is now. This episode also confirms that Yuuji does in fact like Shouko but because of what happened in the past he can’t be with her because he feels guilty for putting her in that situation and doesn’t think he’s good for her.

The comedy still remains fresh and funny and they don’t repeat the same jokes as they did in the first season so if you enjoyed the comedy in the first season you’ll enjoy the comedy in this season. The music is still the same but they surprisingly added some orchestra music for the flashback episodes which is a nice touch and welcomed. The animation is also still good, they still have the inconsistent animated scenes but they’re a lot more balanced this time around, there not constantly doing it like they did in the first season and I got used to them after the first season. The characters are still the same no major change in them but I will say I was a little mad at the end when Aki went back to Himeji because it kind of undermined the season. Throughout the season it seemed as if they were leaning more towards Aki and Minami’s relationship rather than Himeji’s which was very good because after watching both seasons I think Minami is the better match for Aki and they hint that the two are going to get together but at the end they turn it around and just have Aki go back to Himeji. I guess the creators want to keep the rivalry going but still for the fans of Minami this was a slap in the face. Other than that I really have no complaints about the season, I thought it was great and I had a good laugh while watching it.

Is it better than the first season

Personally, I say yes. Like I said before the first season seemed to focus more on the summon test wars and establishing the role of the school while the second season was more focused on the characters and developing their backstories and relationships with each other. And that makes the anime more interesting. While I admit the summon test war is important it’s not the most important element in the show. It certainly is the most interesting and unique part of the show but the main driving force of the series is the characters, their relationship with each other and how they act around each other. The wars are just there to give the characters a means to accomplish their goals and serve as a way to get their moral a cross.

Final Score

The second season of Baka and Test earns an 8/10. This season showed that the series can still be funny and advance the story without having to rely on the wars and feels in the backstory of our characters. There hasn’t been word of a third season but I hope there is one in the future because this anime is way too funny and good to have just 2 seasons. Until then F not only stands for victory but it also stands for funny. Thank for reading I’ll- (Isis): Master, could you come here for moment, I would like to discuss something with you. (Nitsuj): Sure, I’ll be there in a second. Thanks for reading, I’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj and look out for cross-dressers *gets up and walks to the living room*.

(Nitsuj): Hey Isis what’s up?

(Isis): Tell me, have you ever heard of ishidiki?

(Nitsuj): Yeah, also known as sorebanzeme. A form of torture that involves bounding a person in a kneeling position, on top of a ridged board, with stone weights placed on their lap. Why?

(Isis): Very good, this means I won’t have to explain your punishment *turns around smiling sadistically while holding rope in hand*.

(Chibi-Isis): I got the stones all ready for Nii-chan *points to a stack of stones while smiling sadistically*.

(Nitsuj): This is all about that finger flicking incident earlier isn’t it?

(Isis and Chibi-Isis): Yep.

(Nitsuj): AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~! WHY AM I BEING TORTURED IN THESE LAST REVIEWS!?

(Justin): A very good question.
