A very good question and one nobody cares about or remembers for that matter but I’m gonna answer it anyway. The showed center around a robot named Robot Jones whose mission is to go to middle school and learn human nature. Much like Sheep in the Big City this show was gonna fail from the very beginning. But unlike Sheep this show didn’t fail because the premise was stupid it was the exact opposite this premise could have been something good but the problem is the show only has one joke and one joke only. Robot Jones is a robot going to middle school one of the toughest times in a person’s life, that’s it. He’s the outsider, the nail that sticks out among the other nails that’s all they do with him. The show would have worked if, you know, Robot Jones acted like a middle school boy but he doesn’t he acts like a robot trying to be a real boy. Just his behavior and the things he does aren’t things a middle school boy do and thus there’s nothing for us to identify with which is why the show failed so much. For example, there’s one episode where the gym teacher is trying to get Robot Jones to take a shower but Jones doesn’t want to because he’s afraid he’ll short circuit. Smart thinking on his part but the gym teacher insist that Jones take a shower and he goes the episode trying to get Jones to take one. He is stupid, it’s a robot you idiot pay attention. Also, Jones doesn’t really seem to be an outsider at school. Sure he’s a robot and everything so he sticks out but honestly he’s not really treated as an outsider. He doesn’t seem to have any problems like a normal person if anything he seems more interested in the problems of others so he can study them so in truth the show probably would worked out better if we were following a foreign exchange student.
There was honestly nothing memorable about this show, it wasn’t funny, the stories were lame, the animation was ugly, and Jones was just a character you couldn’t identify with and for that matter none of the characters were characters you could identify with. They didn’t even look like middle school students they looked like high schoolers. If this show took placed in high school I think it would of worked out a little better. Let’s face it nothing all that exciting happens in middle school it’s high school where everything happens for us. In the end, Robot Jones was a show that had an interesting premise but just failed to execute it correctly. Whatever happen to Robot Jones? Nothing, absolutely nothing.
