Ah~, 2005, a simpler time, I was just about to finish my sophomore year of high school and there was only one thing on my mind. Star Wars Episode 3. Me and my friends couldn’t have been more excited for school to be over because we knew as soon as it was we were gonna celebrate by seeing Revenge of the Sith and Cartoon Network help promote the movie like no tomorrow with a micro television series called Clone Wars. They were short 5 minute episodes that took place between the 2nd and 3rd movies showing battles of the Clone Wars, various other jedis, and eventually leading up to the start of Episode 3. Many could see the series as cash-in idea by Cartoon Network but even so I didn’t care there was a lot of effort put into this series and it accomplishes its job of getting everyone hyped up for the movie so I say good cash-in on Cartoon Network’s part.
While the episodes were short they got a lot of story out in those 5 minutes with plenty of action and suspense to keep you wanting more. The series was focus mostly on Anakin and Kenobi’s adventures and battles, they also showed a few of the other jedis such as Yoda taking out a squadron of droids to rescue two jedi knights, some of the other jedis fighting to liberate or protect other planets, jedis protecting the chancellor from General Grevious, and probably the best episode of all is Mace Windu destroying an entire army of droids single-handedly. Scene here: , that is so over the top but hey it’s Samuel L. Jackson I’ll give it a pass. That is one of the coolest motherfuckers in the world. If there’s anybody who can go over the top and still look awesome and badass while doing it it’s that man. I’m surprise they didn’t just let him go through the whole battle without his lightsaber and just let him destroy the droids with his force powers alone. The series was just awesome and a great build up for the movie unlike that other Star Wars show which I think it’s obvious a majority of the fans didn’t like the series and I can understand why but I will give the series credit and say it had some decent fight scenes but the CGI was just bad in this show. Clone Wars may have been short but those 5 minute episodes were in my opinion better than Episode 3 if not the whole prequels.
