Since ducks were such a hit with kids in the past Disney decided to once again go back to them and since Ducktales was such a huge hit they decided to bring Huey, Dewey, and Louie back in their new show Quack Pack. When I was a kid I use to like this show a lot. As a fan of Ducktales I was glad to see the boys all grown up and in teenage form but now that I look back on it as an adult it wasn’t as good as I remember it.
In the show the boys are now teenagers and live with Donald or Uncle D as they like to call him now once again. Here, Donald works as a cameraman for a news station and Daisy his girlfriend works as a news reporter for the station. The show primarily focuses on the boys getting into all sorts of trouble trying to find a scoop which usually turns out to be a scam and they have to expose it. Like I said as a kid I liked this show but now that I’m an adult I see some of the mistakes they made. For starters while it’s cool that the boys have grown up and now have personalities where you can tell them apart their personalities are basically archetypes of teen boys that were seen all throughout media. We got Huey the hothead leader who has an interest in girls, Dewey the tech wiz who believes in aliens and is the conscience of the group, and finally Louie the spiritual guider of the group who’s unaware of his true potential. And of course they all like comics and rock music. Donald kind of maintained his same personality he had in the shorts but Daisy probably changed the most out of all the characters having an April O’Neal personality going for her. Get the story no matter what. The stories of each episode also weren’t as creative as say the episodes from Ducktales. The stories were pretty basic and were stories we saw a million times as kid that were done better in other toons. Other than the boys being stereotypes and the episodes having weak premises with one or two jokes that made you laugh there was really nothing else in this show that I consider bad. It was okay. It didn’t harm anyone or bore them. It was just trying to bring classic Disney stars back. If the show would of worked more on giving them unique personalities and stories than this show honestly would have been a hit in my eyes.
