This was one of the animes on the list of animes I really wanted to review. I liked the manga which ended sooner than it should of so I knew I would find the anime interesting as well and I have to admit it was somewhat of a letdown. This anime focuses on a guy named Yuuto who actually comes from a long line of demon slayers unbeknownst to him. This however changes on his 16th birthday when demons start attacking him. Luckily, a cat demon named Himari in the form of a beautiful girl shows up claiming to be his bodyguard until he learns how to properly use his powers and become a proper demon slayer but through his interactions with various other demons and spirits he comes to see that not all of them are bad and decides to use his powers to form a bridge where both sides can live in peace.
The anime for the most part follows the manga until the last few episodes and I can’t really get mad at the anime for this, new chapters came out inconsistently so they had no choice but to make up their own ending. Is it a good ending, no but it’s passable. In my opinion they should have created their own villain for the anime instead of using the villains from the manga that way they would have had room for a second season. They also left out a few key moments like there’s this one part in the manga where we learn why Rinko cares about Yuuto so much that they completely cut out of the anime. Why they left that part out I’ll never understand. They got the characteristic and personalities of the characters right. Yuuto despite being powerless at the beginning is someone who does care about others and as the anime goes on he tries to be of use to Himari by trying to master his powers so he can defend himself and even as time goes on in manga he shows his resolve and determination to defend what’s precious to him by even preparing himself to kill a demon just to protect Himari. Himari is hot, beautiful, and strong and surprisingly she’s a lot more perverted and forward with Yuuto in the anime than she is in the manga. Speaking of perverted this anime has a lot of perverted moments like way more perverted moments than the manga in my opinion. Looking back at this anime it’s not as good as I originally thought it was. At most it’s okay. The fanservice is good, you’ll get a good laugh out of it and at times it can be funny, the interactions off the characters is nice, and I do like how they handle the relationship between Yuuto and Himari showing how much they care for each other and how they’re slowly falling for each other as the series goes on. The rest of the heroines you’ll come to like as well but you’ll definitely consider Himari the best out of all of them. Kind of a tough call but I think a 6.5 suits this anime better than a 7.
