Hello everyone, Justin here and welcome to the side the blogs between the blogs. Well March is here and spring is just around the corner, thank God, I am tired of the winter weather here in Cincinnati. I hate cold weather, I prefer warm weather. Anyway, with spring almost here that means new anime for us to watch and I’m here to give my first impressions on them. The winter season was good, they had a lot of good and interesting animes come out this winter. My favorites being Overlord S2, Darling in FRANXX, Violet Evergarden is good, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens is an anime I held off watching but I’ve been hearing good things about it, and the Ryou’s work is surprisingly good (I still can’t believe I enjoy an anime about shogi). With that said let’s see what’s coming out in the spring and give our first impressions on them.

3D Kanojo
The anime focuses on a boy named Hikaru who likes 2D girls and lives in his own world. One day he meets a girl named Iroha who is popular with the boys. Will Iroha be the girl to make him change sides? I’ll check out the first episode and see where this goes.
Aikatsu Friends!
The next anime in the Aikatsu series which will focus on a new character. Not interested.
Akkun to Kanojo
Focuses on a tsundere boy and his girlfriend who he is obsessed with to the point that he stalks her. Not watching.
Alice or Alice
Focuses on the day to day life of two twin sisters named Alice (who does that? Who gives their twin daughters the same name, doesn’t that get confusing in the house?) and their brother who is attracted to them. I’m probably going to regret this but I’m going to check this anime out.
Amanchu!
The second season. Not watching.
Beyblade Burst Chouzetsu
New season in the Beyblade series that somehow still exists for some reason. Did anybody have a Beyblade growing up? I mean for the life of me I never saw anybody playing with them. Not watching.
Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu HAPPY KISS
Second season of that bizarre anime about the guys liking stuff animals. Not interested.
Boku no Hero Academia 3
Here’s one of the most anticipated anime of the year, the third season of Academia. Fun fact, I originally had plans to review the first and second season in April in order to get people hyped for the third season. But with the third season coming out in April instead of July like I originally thought, it looks like I’ll have to change up my plans. Excited for this anime and definitely watching it.
Butlers ~Chitose Momotose Monogatari~
Two handsome and talented boys who make the ladies faint take part in supernatural battles to save the world. I’m handing this one over to the AI girls.
Caligula
This is interesting. So these students are stuck in a virtual reality setting of high school where a group of them are trying to escape but getting in their way is another group who supports the machine. It’s like the Matrix only in high school (https://youtu.be/qjBRNqwDPrU). Watching it.
Captain Tsubasa (2018)
The popular soccer anime from the 80s makes a return. Not watching it but I encourage anyone who likes soccer to check it out as this is one of the best soccer series out there.
Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro
Focuses on a girl who always runs into problems on her way to school. I might watch this.
Comic Girls
Follows a bunch of girls who draw manga. I might watch this.
Cutie Honey Universe
A new Cutie Honey series. For those of you unfamiliar with Cutie Honey, she’s basically the Sailor Moon before Sailor Moon. Watching it.
Devil’s Line
Vampire police in Tokyo. I will check it out.
Dorei-ku The Animation
This is a pretty twisted anime in which people try to make other people their slave. I’m checking this out.
Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory
Oh wow, a fourth season of FMP. I never thought we would get one. I’m going to watch this and see if Yin-Yang wants in on the action.
Fumikiri Jikan
Short stories of females waiting to cross the railroad tracks. Not watching.
Gegege no Kitarou (2018)
No information about this anime has been released yet but from the looks of it, it’s a supernatural anime with kids. I think I’ll watch this.
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu -Die Neue These- Kaikou
A galactic war which follows two soldiers on opposites sides rising to power. I might watch this.
Golden Kamui
A gold hunt in the Hokkaido region of Japan set in the early 20th century. I’ll check it out.
Gundam Build Divers
Another Gundam series which I am not interested in.
Gurazeni
Focuses on a baseball team where their performance determines their annual salary. We focus on a new player who has joined the team and does his best to survive and adapt to his team. Not really into baseball but sounds interesting.
High School DxD HERO
The fourth season of Highschool DxD. Watching it.
Hinamatsuri
Focuses on a magical girl and a boy from the yakuza who wind up living together. I’ll check it out.
Hisone to Maso-tan
Dragon pilots. Not interested.
Hoozuki no Reitetsu 2: Part II
The second part of Hoozuki’s season 2 anime. Not gonna lie, didn’t really care for the second season and stopped watching it all together so not interested.
Inazuma Eleven: Ares no Tenbin
Another season of Inazuma. Not watching but if you like soccer it might be worth checking out.
Juushinki Pandora
Set 13 years into the future, humanity has created an energy device called the “Quantum Reactor” to alleviate the problems stemming from Earth’s fossil fuel depletion. But something goes wrong and the “Quantum Reactor” began bathing the world with unknown energies which gives birth to new beings that are part organic and part machine. Now humanity is on the brink of extinction fighting these things. Well this sounds epic. Watching it.
Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi
A girl who has the ability to see spirits gets taken away by a spirit who runs an inn and is forced to be his bride in order to pay off her grandfather’s debt. Not liking the idea, the girl vows to work at his inn and pay off her grandfather’s debt to get out of the marriage. I’m giving this to the AI girls.
Kiratto Pri☆Chan
A new anime in the Pri Chan series. Not watching.
Last Period: Owarinaki Rasen no Monogatari
It’s like Pokémon only with a more corporate setting. I might watch this.
Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File
A spinoff of the Layton series focusing on a girl solving mysteries. Not watching.
Lostorage Conflated WIXOSS
The WIXOSS series has a new season. Not watching.
Lupin III: Part V
Lupin returns this time taking place in France which is where his family name began. I’m excited for this season as there’s a lot they can do here. Definitely watching it.
Mahou Shoujo Ore
This is insanity. Here, read the description:
This story is about a 15-year-old girl who is a newbie idol in love with her best friend’s brother who is also a popular idol. But she runs into a scary yakuza guy and finds out that her mother was an ex-magical girl, and the yakuza was her mascot. Her love interest gets kidnapped by demons that look like burly men with cute squirrel heads. So she contracts the yakuza to become a magical girl, which in this story means she turns into a handsome guy in a magical girl outfit. On top of that, her love interest shows an attraction toward her magical guy form. Her best friend turns out to be in love with her and also becomes a magical cross-dressing guy to save her life. Thus, their manager, who is a magical girl geek, then decides to turn them into an idol unit.
What the hell? I might just check this out just to see how insane this is.
Mahou Shoujo Site
It’s a battle royale between magical girls who are thirsty for blood. Checking this out.

Baseball anime. Not watching.
Megalo Box
An adaption of the popular boxing manga Ashita no Joe. I might watch it.
Nil Admirari no Tenbin
A girl living in Taishou era of Japan seeks to uncover the mystery into how her brother died. We got the supernatural elements at play here and a dark mystery so I’m intrigued to see what happens in this series.
Oshiri Tantei
A detective who has a butt for a face. That’s too silly even for me to make a joke about it. Not watching.
Persona 5 The Animation
Here’s an anime I’ve been looking forward to watching, Persona 5 the animation. Based off the popular Persona 5 game. Watching it.
Piano no Mori
Two boys from very different upbringings become friends through the piano. Not watching.
Rokuhoudou Yotsuiro Biyori
Male bonding in the tea shop. Not watching.
Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru
Math, dragons, bounty hunters, and a lot of action. I might watch it.
Shiyan Pin Jiating
A scientist couple get arrested for performing genetic modifications on their children. The youngest, who was the only one not to be altered must now find a way to return his siblings to normal again. I might watch this.
Shokugeki no Souma: San no Sara – Tootsuki Ressha-hen
The second part of season 3 of Food Wars. The third season was originally supposed to be 24 episodes but due to production problems, the season was stopped at episode 12. Watching this.
Souten no Ken: REGENESIS
A prequel to Fist of the North Star. I might check this out.
Steins;Gate 0
A side story from in the Steins;Gate series. I’ve only seen a few episodes of Stein;Gate so I’m going to hold off on this anime for now.
Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online
An alternate story in SAO universe which focuses on a new player who takes part in a team battle royal in GGO.
Tachibanakan to Lie Angle
A girl lives in a dorm with nothing but girls. I sense yuri. Checking out the first episode.
Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai
Boy meets girl who is a foreigner. Boy helps girl. Boy takes girl to a coffee shop run by his grandfather. Not interested.
Tokyo Ghoul:re
A sequel to Tokyo Ghoul set two years after the events of season 2. Watching it.
Uchuu Senkan Tiramisu
Another space war anime. I might check it out.
Uma Musume Pretty Derby
An anime about horse girls who aim to be top idols in sports entertainment. Not sure where this is going but I’ll check out the first episode.
Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii
Focuses on the awkward love life between two workers with the female being a BL enthusiast and the male being a game otaku. Not interested.
OVAs, Movies and Others
Not a whole lot of OVAs coming out this spring. We’ve got some good movies coming out such as Batman Ninja, the final movie in the Digimon Tri series, Godzilla, Detective Conan, and a CGI film for the Ghibli Museum. We have a lot of animes from the winter continuing into the spring such as the ever popular Darling in the FRANXX and Seven Deadly Sins (which I forgot to mention is another anime I’ve been enjoying this winter).
Final Thoughts
So that’s what’s coming out in the spring. There’s a lot coming out but we’ve got a lot of good and interesting titles that I’m looking forward to watching. 2018 started off well and it looks like the spring season intends to keep the momentum going.
