I hate this anime, I hate it with the burning passion of a 1000 suns. A part of me doesn’t even know why I’m even reviewing this in the first place. If I wanted to I could have summed up this entire series in one sentence. Ikkoutousen, shameless fanservice, horrible fighting, annoying characters, and no story don’t watch. And that’s Ikkoutousen the end. But no, I was young at the time and still really getting into anime, I didn’t know the anime was gonna suck and I didn’t think it was gonna be this bad so you sit there and you read my blog and feel just an ounce an ounce of my pain, hatred, and anger for this piece of shit. So three years after the first anime aired the second season of Ikkoutousen began called Dragon Destiny this time under the work of the animation studio Arms who are responsible for Elfen Lied and a few of the Queen’s Blade series but are mostly well known for their work in hentai such as La Blue Girl, Kite, Words Worth, Night shift nurses, G-spot express and even helped co-produce Mezzo Forte. I guess they were trying find the middle ground between anime and hentai, create something that’s for the adults but can be marketed to teens. And if you can believe it this is considered the best out of all of the seasons. Well let’s see if Dragon Destiny can offer something the first season hasn’t let’s dive right into this shithole.
Opening and Ending Theme
The opening for this anime is “HEART&SOUL” by Mai Kariyuki which I have to admit is a pretty good song. It matches up well with the opening animation, I like the overall feel of the song, and the buildup is good. The only problem I have with it is that the singer isn’t really singing all that loud. She’s not singing bad but you can tell she’s trying to make her voice sound louder and bigger but she keeps failing. The ending is “Garasu no Hana (Glass Flower)” by IORI which takes us for a twist by instead of being loud and rock like the opening is a lot more peaceful, traditional, and softer. It also seems kind of sad at first but right at the halfway point starts to pick up the pace and become quicker and upbeat.
Episodes 1-4
We begin the anime with Ryomou this time voiced by Rebecca Soler who I have to admit sounds better but at the same time not caring about this show at all. We also see that she’s upgraded from her maid outfit and has instead started to wear skimpy Chinese dresses (for some reason she’s sexier now). She breaks into a temple to steal what looks like a cheap knock off of a dragonball if it got rid of the stars and instead had a dragon coiling around a ball. But she gets attacked by these stone statues who knock her eye patch off and stop fighting her (Stone statue #1: Alright boys we knock her eye-patch off hold your attacks). She goes pass the statues towards the dragonball (Stone statue #3: Shouldn’t we stop her? (Stone statue #1): No! Don’t attack her yet, stay steady! (Stone statue #2): But she’s going for the sacred ball. (Stone statue #1): Boy do you wanna be demoted to #3? While you were still learning to GRAVEL IN DIRT I was being trained to guard temples!) and picks it up and one moves forward to attack her but gets cut down (Stone statue #1: To be. . .OR NOT TO *gets cut down*) by another fighter named Myosai who works for Sousou and wants the dragonball but Ryomou puts her in a submission hold and Myosai uses her wires to cut the candles setting the place on fire but Ryomou won’t let go. We cut to the next scene where the temple has been burnt to the ground, Ryomou has the dragonball and Myosai is nowhere to be seen (too lazy to even show how she escaped. Well, it’s nice to see some things from the first season haven’t changed). She goes back to her hotel room and has a shower but Myosai sneaks in and tries to kill her but she escapes through the window in a maid outfit (damn it no, the Chinese dress was way sexier go back to that). The next day we go to Seito Private School which is the school Kanu is from and we meet the leader of the school Ryuubi who doesn’t take her role as leader seriously, doesn’t enjoy fighting and would much rather read books, and is a big-breasted crybaby (oh good another character to annoy me, like I don’t have enough of those in this anime). We also meet Chouhi who is Ryuubi and Kanu’s best friend and one of the only fighters we see in this school. She along with Kanu serves as Ryuubi’s bodyguard since she hasn’t awaken to her fighting spirit (Kanu I’ll save you sometime, chop her head off in her sleep and take over the school). After a few pointless scenes at Seito where we see the school is an all-female school located in the mountains (I’m starting to see why Kanu went lesbian on us) we cut to Kyosho (Sousou’s school) who after winning the previous tournament have begun to take over all the other schools with some dude who I will name Crapface is doing the horizontal bop with Kaku in the computer lab (slut I call slut) and setting plans in motion to take control of Kyosho from Sousou (Panty count: 353. Yes, I’m still doing this I’m predicting we’re be at least gonna be near the 1000 mark by the end of the month).
In the first half of episode 2 we see that Crapface and Kaku leak information to a rivalry school about Sousou’s movement and they send in assassin (who is a girl) to kill Sousou but lukily Genjou is there to defend him but the assassin spits a needle in his eye which angers Sousou that he unleashes the dragon within his body and kills the assassin with his bare hands (straight up gangster right there). Because of this he starts ordering his men to take down rival schools left and right so that no one will oppose him anymore just like Crapface and Kaku planned. In the second half Kyosho launches a surprise attack on Seito to try and capture Ryuubi (trust me, you don’t want her, she’ll annoy you to no end with her constant whining). Kanu and Chouhi manage to beat the guys from Kyosho and we end with Ryomou showing up at their academy (Panty count: 372).
Once again episode 3 is split into two parts. The first part picks up where episode 2 left off Ryomou tries to attack Ryuubi to see the power of her dragon. She uses the dragonball which we find out later is the dragon jade, a sphere that is said to tame a dragon and change the destiny of a fighter (the deus ex machina so to speak) to bring out Ryuubi’s dragon which goes berserk. After the jade fails to tame her Ryomou retreats leaving Kanu to capture Ryuubi by herself which we never see (you people are clearly forgetting the basics of a martial arts anime. In a martial arts anime you should be promoting your fight scenes instead of skipping them and you should also be focusing on the story and character development INSTEAD OF SHOWING PANTY SHOTS AND SEX SCENES LIKE YOUR SHOOTING A PORNO). After being locked up in a cell the dragon inside Ryuubi calms down and Ryuubi returns back to her normal annoying senses (oh goody). In the second half Crapface and Kaku have another sex scene (will you stop fucking the slut and do something worthwhile), after the dirty sex he leaves her place and gets attacked by some girl from another school who kills him using Kannei’s batons (he won’t be missed. No serious I have no idea why I should care for his death, I knew nothing about him, what he was planning, and every time we saw him all he did was fool around with the slut Kaku). After receiving this information Sousou thinks a student from Nanyo is responsible for his friend’s death and he orders his forces to focus their attention on destroying Nanyo. We end with going to Nanyo where we see just like Ryomou everyone has a new voice and we see that Hakufu is now the leader of Nanyo but still dumb as rocks (ah yes, I did feel there was an annoyance missing in this anime. Panty count: 403).
Episode 4 is a boring episode. The only thing we find out that’s worthwhile is that Ryomou has a dragon inside of her as well and is sealing it with her eye patch. We also see Hakufu go to Seito academy looking for Ryomou since she hasn’t been to school in weeks and we end the episode with Ryomou going to put flowers on Ryofu’s grave and get attacked by a girl assassin named Teni who uses archery to kill her opponents and goes to Kyosho (Panty count: 410).
Episodes 5-8
We start episode 5 with a little backstory about Teni who killed her father in self-defense because he tried to rape her and was picked on in school by her fellow students. The only person to show her any kind of love and care was a woman name Shibai who she believes is the Messiah and holds great affection for her (talk about the faith going to someone’s head). She attacks Ryomou piercing her a few times and almost kills her but Shiryuu a swordswoman from Seito shows up and attacks Teni forcing her to retreat (and she does this all with her eyes close). Ryomou uses the Dragon jade to awaken her dragon and tries to attack Shiryuu who takes her down easily since she was wounded from her previous fight. After she grabs the Dragon jade she drops the injured Ryomou off at Hakufu’s place and delivers it to Kanu back at Seito and warns her to watch out for Ryomou (beware the one-eye dragon, for its powers shall bring chaos and destruction to us all). We also see Kaku get the pink slip and leaves Kyosho academy (so long slut, thanks for all the sex. . .and STDs. Panty count: 437).
Episode 6 centers on the 3 girls from Seito academy. Kanu goes deep into the moutains to consult with what is known as the crouching dragon (why does this sound like a rip-off from a Bruce Lee movie). Chouhi and Ryuubi follow after her and they get separated in the forest. Kanu meets a mushroom junkie monk who challenges her to a fight and uses incense to play with her mind but she overcomes them and defeats the monk. Chouhi fights another monk to whom she loses, I assume (they never show the fight so I don’t know what happens) and Ryuubi almost drowns while trying to save a girl in the lake (and while she’s drowning the only thing she regrets is not reading more books. Okay, let’s just leave her in the forest, seriously, we’ll just say she got eaten by wolves). She saves the girl who she thinks is dead because she’s not moving (do CPR you dumb bitch) and tries to do CPR but doesn’t know how (all the books you’ve read and you never learned how to do CPR!? My God, what the hell is wrong with the dragons in this anime? We have one dragon who is dumb as rocks, one inexplicably going evil on us, and one annoying and useless as all hell! And to think these characters represent the greatest leaders China has ever known and control a number of the greatest warriors history has ever known). The girl wakes up and reveals that she has been waiting for Ryuubi her whole life and wants to go into the world with her (is this girl high or something? Because if she is I could use some of that stuff to get through this month). She takes her back to the temple where the mushroom junkie lives and finds out that the girl is actually the Crouching Dragon Koumei who is said to have the power to see the future (What does the future say about this anime? (Koumei): Well it’s doomed to fail, it will never have a solid story, it will go down in history as one of the worst animes of all time, and not even doujin writers are gonna wanna touch this crap. (Nitsuj): I thought so). We end the episode with Kaku going to Nanyo with Myosai to get the Dragon jade (Panty count: 458).
In episode 7 Myosai attacks Nanyo beating up all the guys in sight (you mean to tell me throughout this entire school all they have is 2 girls? I guess their dining at IHOS or something) but once she senses that the Dragon Jade is not there she leaves. Once Hakufu and Ryomou make it back to the school Ryomou comes clean and tells them about the Dragon Jade and Hakufu blames herself for all that’s happened (how is your fault ya dumbass!? You’ve literally done nothing throughout this entire season and you’re the main character). Meanwhile, Sousou gives Genjou an imperial order to go to Seito and capture Kanu since the evil general inside of him likes her (he has good taste in women). They track the main students of Seito at a festival at night, Kanu fights against one of Kyosho’s pillar warriors and manages to beat him with telepathic encouragement from Ryuubi (I’m kidding she somehow hears Ryuubi’s thoughts and has the strength to win). After one of the other pillar warriors shows Kanu a picture of Ryuubi and the others surrounded by the gang from Kyosho she gives herself up to end the episode (Panty count: 485)
Kanu gets taken to Kyosho in episode 8 where one of the pillar warriors attempts to read her mind to find the Dragon Jade through kissing (Pillar warrior: Why are there so many thoughts of you and other women? (Kanu): My thoughts need a hobby). The pillar warrior finds the location of the Dragon Jade but after seeing Kanu’s past life she breaks down from it too scared to even talk. Sousou comes in and through the powers of the EVIL~ spirit he manages to brainwash Kanu into being his servant. The next day Hakufu launches a single-man surprise raid on Kyosho in an attempt to fight Sousou but instead fights Kanu who doesn’t seem to be brainwashed anymore (then what was the point of brainwashing her in the first place) and is now wearing leather pants and top instead of her usual skimpy schoolgirl outfit (this could have a serious impact on the panty counter). So they fight for a while, Hakufu awakens her dragon, and Sousou finally shows up and just straight up owns her with one blast (so he has Kanu on his side and he just basically owned Hakufu *ponders*. . .I’m going to Team Kyosho). And with Hakufu defeated no one stands between him and destroying Nanyo. Also Ryuubi finally awakens to her dragon and accepts her role as leader of Seito (that’s all fine and dandy but IT’S TOO LATE IN THE GAME FOR THAT! Panty count: 501)
Episodes 9-12
Episode 9 is just a pointless episode in my opinion. Saji (or Ouin however you wanna call him) returns from his seclusion in the mountains (I didn’t even know he was in the mountains I thought they all killed the bastard for deceiving them) and tells the gang that Hakufu is still alive ans out there somewhere. A messenger from Seito comes to them and tells them that Seito wants to form an alliance so Saji and Ryomou go to meet Koumei at Seito who reveals that Ryomou getting the Dragon Jade and the tension build-up between Nanyo and Kyosho was all her doing to buy time for Seito to build their forces up (that little bitch). As a token of their alliance and apology she gives them back the Dragon Jade. While that’s going on Genjou finds out that Kanu being at Kyosho is only making Sousou worst so he allows her to escape and go back to Seito (sure, let’s let the strongest fighter in the show go back to her school so she can kick your asses later). The evil spirit inside Sousou finds out about this and delivers punishment onto Genjou for not following orders. And what does Goei have to say about her daughter possibly being dead, well she’s more concerned about not having enough screentime this season (-_- that’s right folks, this anime just broke the fourth wall. Alright, abandon what little hope you had left because the shark has just been jumped. Panty count: 504)
Episode 10 serves as a setup for the finale about to happen in the last 2 episodes. We find out that Shibai (Teni’s master who’s also a in a wheelchair because her legs don’t walk) is actually using Sousou to accomplish her own goals which is to summon the spirits of the dead to create a new world of war. We find out that Hakufu is in the care of her master who is trying to awaken and control Hakufu’s dragon which we find out is the water dragon, Sousou is the fire dragon, and Ryuubi is the lightning dragon (Pokemon copycats). Kanu returns to Seito but is told by Shiryuu to stay hidden for the time being since her being capture has motivated Ryuubi to be a leader (it’s sad that it took the capturing of a friend to motivate her to do something just like it’s sad Microsoft allowed used games for Xbox One since people were constantly bitching about it. What I’m saying is it’s sad that Microsoft was actually gonna go through with this no used game policy in the first place). Koukin goes all emo in this episode because his precious cousin (that he has a crush on. Sicko) is missing all because of Koumei and goes to Seito to confront her but Kanu stops him, reveals that she loves Ryuubi just like he loves Hakufu (she’s not worthy to lick your feet Kanu let alone have your affection) and he leaves (can’t even avenge the girl you love, you really are useless baggage in this anime aren’t you). Finally, Koumei sends a letter to Kyosho saying that they’re going to settle their differences once and for all by having a showdown between each schools’ best fighters with the winner getting the Dragon Jade (Panty count: 524).
We open episode 11 with a factory in the mountains (where the hell are we) which will serve as the place for the final battle. We see Ryomou, Saji, and Gakushu representing Nanyo and Chouhi and Ryuubi representing Seito (their chances are looking slim already). Koukin also shows up and reveals to the others that he saw Kanu outside the gates of Seito the other day (you *window shatters* idiot! That was supposed to be a secret! *Looks to where the glass shattered* Holy crap, I cursed so loud that I broke the sound barrier and shattered my window). After that scene we go back to Hakufu in her dragon mode fighting against Ukitsu (okay, you didn’t kill her in the first season, now’s your chance to redeem yourself). She punches Hakufu in the stomach which allows Hakufu to meet her dad and gain control of the water dragon inside her (No! Fulfill your destiny! Kill her) and she flies off in her dragon form towards the battle (I swear they are making this shit up as they go along). Kyosho shows up with Shibai leading the way and Sousou nowhere to be seen. Their warriors are Myosai (which is odd considering the last time we saw her she was working with Kaku), the three pillar warriors, and these two ugly looking motherfuckers who serve no purpose other than to be defeated. So the fights begin with Myosai trying to get the Dragon Jade at the top of the factory but is cut off by Ryomou wearing her maid outfit (okay seriously what is with the maid outfit, you were in your school uniform earlier and we saw you bring nothing with you except the Dragon Jade. Does the maid outfit give you super powers or something or do you get off wearing it). Gakushu and Koukin beat two of the pillar warriors (0_O they. . .actually won a fight), Saji beats one of the ugly motherfuckers using his chi blast (what, time out, when could he do this, in fact this isn’t the first time we’ve seen it, we see it in a few other fight scenes, when did they start doing energy blast? Did I accidently turn on Dragonball Z). Saji gets injured and faints from his injuries (weakling) but not before using another chi blast with Ryomou to take out Myosai. One of the pillar warriors attacks Ryuubi but Kanu shows up to save her (Kanu’s in the house bitches! Panty count: 556).
In the final episode with all of her forces defeated Shibai gets in the car and drives it into the factory where she reveals that she can walk (the wheelchair is a lie) and makes her way to the top of the factory to get the Dragon Jade being guarded by Koumei and Ryuubi (the most dangerous item in this anime and you send two useless characters to defend it). Kanu shows up and slices her chest but it has no effect on her and she uses the powers she got from the evil spirit to summon him to the factory where we see that he has completely taken over Sousou and has transformed into the fire dragon. With the Dragon Jade reacting to his power Ryuubi can no longer contain her dragon and transforms into a dragon herself to fight the evil spirit who we find out is actually the evil lord Sousou from all those years ago. He’s about to kill Ryuubi (how is he bad again) until Hakufu shows up to stop him and they duke it out. The Dragon Jade reacts to the strong feelings of Ryuubi wanting to protect her friends and seals off Sousou’s powers and allows Hakufu and Ryuubi to combine their powers and destroy him once and for all. After Sousou is defeated the Dragon Jade turns black and vanishes (it was a piece a shit anyway). As the credits roll we see that Ukitsu has died from her fight with Hakufu (it can’t be, she was my only hope to see Hakufu die *gets down on knee* Nooooooooooooooooooooooo~! (Isis): Yes. (Nitsuj): Damn it!), everybody goes back to their daily lives, Hakufu and Ryomou gets jobs at a maid café (I’m sure Ryomou will like that), and we end with Kaku running into Genjou in the streets who has amnesia and is looking for Sousou (Panty count: 562).
Final Thoguhts
This anime is bad. It pretty much suffers from the same problems of the first season, it has horrible fights scenes, focuses more on panty shots, bouncing breast and ripping the clothes off of girls instead of character development, and even upgraded the more degrading fanservice by actually throwing in sex scenes. The animation is a little nicer and the voice acting got a little better for some of the characters but still, even they don’t care about it. We get somewhat of a story is this one but it’s so confusing that you won’t be able to catch it. I have no idea who the main character is in this season is it Kanu, Ryuubi, Sousou, or Genjou, I know it’s not Hakufu because through a majority of the season we barely see her or the others from Nanyo. Throughout this season the anime just isn’t sure who it wants to focus on, the girls from Seito, Sousou’s decent into darkness, or Ryomou and Nanyo. So instead of just sitting down and agreeing on who to focus on they just decide to throw them all in together. It almost feels like I’m watching two separate animes and both of them are bad. They even cutoff Shibai’s master plan even though they had a small section for it in one episode, waste of animation right there. The Dragon Jade is also useless, we’re told the jade can control dragons but we never see it do it, if anything it only makes the dragons stronger. All in all the anime is just a mess that needs to be cleaned up and isn’t worth your time.
Is it better than the first season
Roughly the same. I’ve heard that people who watched Dragon Destiny said that they liked the story in this one better than the first season but that’s really not saying that much since the story of the first season was non-existent. As I said before the animation is better and a few of voices are better but if you ask me I really don’t see that much of a difference from the first season.
Final Score
Dragon Destiny earns a 1.5/10. There’s not that much of a difference from the first season but when you compare the two I will say that I would rather watch this season then the first one if I had to choose between the two. The only thing I can say I actually enjoyed about this season is the fact that I got to see more Kanu and as I said before she’s the only person in this anime I like but even she’s not enough to save this shit of an anime. If this is the best Ikkitousen can throw at me than I am in for some serious shit. Two down two to go, thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj.
