Hello. Nitsuj here and welcome to the side blogs the blogs between the blogs. It’s the middle of August which means I’m sure a lot of people are starting school and the leaves on the trees will be turning different colors to welcome fall. Which means it’s time once again for First Impressions where we take a look at what’s coming out this fall and give our thoughts on the line up set to come out. The summer line up has been somewhat disappointing. While we got good shows like Vinland Saga, Dr. Stone, Danmachi, Kanata no Astra and Fire Force along with some good comedies like Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka and Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru the rest of the season presented a lot of disappointing animes (particularly in the isekai department. Isekai mom, why aren’t you a hentai? Just make the mom a stepmom and you have a recipe for possibly one of the most creative hentais out there). The fall season has always been the season where the industry busts out some of the most anticipated animes of the year to end the year on a strong note, have a few hidden gems to get people excited, and just build up excitement for the next year. With that said, let’s get started. These are the First Impressions for the Fall Anime 2019.
Boku no Hero Academia 4
Alright, so first up we have probably everyone’s pick for anime of the season My Hero Academia season 4. Definitely watching it.
Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld
Next up, the second part of SAO’s Alicization arc. I have to admit, the Alicization arc might just be my favorite arc in SAO series so far. Very excited to see what happens next. Watching it.
Nanatsu no Taizai: Kamigami no Gekirin
Remember how I said My Hero Academia was going to be everyone’s pick for anime of the season? Well, they might have some competition as Nanatsu no Taizai is returning as well. Looks like I’ll be reviewing the second season in September. Watching it. Speaking of returns. . .
PSYCHO-PASS 3
The third season of Psycho-Pass. After years of waiting Psycho-Pass is finally returning. Haven’t gotten a chance to watch much of it but a friend of mine loves this series so I’m sure he’s gonna be happy to hear about this. Skipping it for now.
Shokugeki no Souma: Shin no Sara
The fourth season of Food Wars. With the manga coming to an end earlier this year, I’m sure this season will wrap up the series as well or we’ll probably get a 5th season. Watching it.
Chihayafuru 3
3rd season of Chihayafuru. Not watching.
Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia
The next arc in the Fate/Grand series. Not watching.
Boku-tachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai 2
Here’s another anime I’ll be reviewing next month. Also known as We Never Learn, the Shonen Jump comedy earned a lot of fans with the anime with its good cast of characters and humor. Watching it.
Kabukicho Sherlock
In the Kabukicho district of the Shinjuku ward, mysterious murders have been taking place and a detective is investigating them. This may be because I’ve been playing a lot of Judgment recently, but I’m gonna check this anime out and see where it goes.
Assassin’s Pride
In a world of monsters, those who are nobles have the mana to fight against them and are called to fight. Our main character Kufa is asked to tutor a young girl named Merida where he’s secretly been ordered to kill her. Why do they want her dead and will Kufa do it? I intend to find out as I’m watching this.
High Score Girl II
Second season of High Score Girl. Didn’t really get into this anime but it has its fandom. Not watching
Kono Yuusha ga Ore TUEEE Kuse ni Shinchou Sugiru
Our first isekai anime of the season. A goddess summons a boy named Seiya to help her in this video game-like world. While Seiya is an exceptional fighter, he is incredibly cautious such as buying 3 sets of armor and even going all out against a low-level monster like slime. I shall watch this. Here’s hoping it doesn’t suck.
Azur Lane
An anime based off the mobile game. Don’t really know that much about the game other than it has exploded in doujin circles like Kantai Collection, the Fate series, and Dragon Quest (oh yeah, they’re still high on that series and having the 4 Heroes in Smash Ultimate has only fueled the fandom).
BEASTARS
Here’s a title a lot of people are looking forward to watching. This is pretty much Japan’s take on Disney’s Zootopia except with high school animals. Watching it.
Radiant 2
Second season of Radiant. Skipping it. Didn’t get into the series. It just didn’t pull me in.
Kono Oto Tomare! 2
Second season. Not interested.
Ahiru no Sora
A basketball anime focusing on a player who’s short, weak, and has a love for basketball just like his mom. I’m going to check this out.
Fairy Gone 2
Second season. Didn’t like the first one, skipping this season.
GRANBLUE FANTASY The Animation Season 2
Second season. First season wasn’t really all that good so I’m hoping that the second season can deliver. Watching it.
Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo
A boy receives a confession from the most popular girl in school as well as childhood friend. However, there’s an unexpected problem with the confessions. Interesting. I’m gonna watch the first episode and see where this goes.
Choujin Koukousei-tachi wa Isekai demo Yoyuu de Ikinuku you desu!
Another isekai. Seven high school students get caught in a plane accident and wake up in another world where instead of panicking they get to work advancing the world. It turns out these seven students are all geniuses in politics, science, economics, and medicine and are declaring war on the evil nobles of the world. Watching it.
Watashi, Nouryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne!
In 18-year-old girl who dies gets reincarnated as another girl. On her 10th birthday, the memories of her past life return. I might check this out.
Hoshiai no Sora
A coming of age story along with tennis. Not watching.
No Guns Life
Okay this one is a little strange. So there’s these humans called Extends who had their bodies modified to make them into dangerous weapons. The main character Inui is one of them and had his head transformed into a gun and he requires someone to pull the trigger in order for him to fire. Inui is now a PI who takes on cases involving other Extends with the aid of a young woman under his protection. I gotta see where this goes.
Babylon
A suspenseful story about a prosecutor who discovers a conspiracy while investigating illegal activities at a pharmaceutical company. I’ll watch it to see where it goes.
Pet
Another suspenseful anime revolving around people in the underworld who have physic abilities and use said abilities to manipulate memories and other stuff. I might check this out.
Hataage! Kemono Michi
Our next isekai centers around a wrestler named Genzou who loves all kinds of animals. One day, he gets summoned to another world where a princess asks him to kill magical beasts. Genzou responds by giving her a German suplex, leaving, and opening up a pet shop. So funny and weird that I might check this out.
Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen
The final isekai anime of the season focuses on a bookworm who gets killed after graduating from college. She gets reborn in another world where books our scarce, so she decides to start making books herself. I am giving this to Mira.
Mairimashita! Iruma-kun
Here’s a manga I actually started reading recently. A scaredy-cat named Suzuki gets abandoned and sold by his parents to a demon. Luckily, the demon is friendly and treats him like a grandson. Suzuki’s new life begins by attending a school for demons with his adopted grandfather as the headmaster. Watching it.
Keishicho Tokumu-bu Tokushu Kyoaku-han Taisaku-Shitsu Dai-Nana-ka: Tokunana
Taking place in an alternate Tokyo, a unit of misfits who work for the police are tasked with fighting a terrorist organization called “Nine” who commit crimes in the name of these dragons that once roamed the Earth. Seems interesting so I’ll watch it.
Z/X: Code Reunion
No information about this anime but it looks like it’s based off a mobile game. I might watch it.
Ikusa x Koi
A lonely boy gets chosen by Odin to help 9 Valkyries save the world. Their power source comes from intimacy. Watching it.
Houkago Saikoro Club
Girls who like playing board games. I might watch it.
Rifle Is Beautiful
Girls start a shooting club at their school. With these recent mass shootings, I’m not sure how I feel about this anime. Skipping it.
Mugen no Juunin
Based off the badass manga under the same name, it focuses on the immortal samurai named Manji. Wanting to regain his mortality, he strikes a deal with the witch who cursed him by saying he’ll kill one hundred evil men for every good man he’s killed. The witch accepts this proposal and Manji heads out to kill a thousand evil man. In his journey he comes across a woman named Rin also seeking revenge against a school of swordsmen who killed her family. Definitely watching this.
Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle
Based off the hit Sega game, the anime will cover the first three episodes of the game along with an original story. Skipping it.
Stand My Heroes: PIECE OF TRUTH
Based off another mobile game that I’ve never heard of but judging by the characters it’s main audience will be females. Passing this anime to the AI girls.
Chuubyou Gekihatsu Boy
A girl gets surrounded by delusional boys. Not watching.
ACTORS: Songs Connection
Focuses on the daily lives of various students and teachers at an academy. Skipping it.
Null Peta
A child genius brings her older sister back to life as a robot. Skipping it.
Kandagawa Jet Girls
Girls who like to race jet boats. I might watch it.
Africa no Salaryman
A comedy series inspired by Zootopia with a possible dash of Aggretsuko. I might watch it.
Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE
Another Gundam series. Not watching it.
Zoids Wild Zero
Second season of Zoids Zero. Don’t really care for it.
Kaijuu Step Wandabada
A series about the kaiju from the Ultraman series. Not interested.
Along with these animes we have Dr. Stone, Fire Force, and Vinland Saga continuing into the fall. Easily the top 3 animes from the summer in my opinion.
Movies and OVAs
We got some good movies coming this fall. There’s Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata, My Hero Academia, Blackfox, Hello World, and Human Lost look and sound cool, Bokura no Nanokakan Sensou sounds interesting, and the first ever CGI Lupin III movie has me excited. On the OVA front we have One Punch Man, We Never Learn, Overlord Ple Ple Pleiades, and One Piece: Romance Dawn.
Final Thoughts
The fall line up looks awesome. We got the return of fan favorites to end the year out strong along with new ones that sound fun and interesting. Can’t wait to for October to get here.
