Hello. Justin here and welcome to the side blog the blogs between the blogs. Well, it’s the middle of March and signs of spring are beginning to shine through which means it’s time for new anime to arrive. That’s right, it’s time once again for First Impressions where we take a look at the anime set to come out next season and give our thoughts on them without doing any research on them. It’s like going in to take a test without studying, winging it, and pulling out a passing grade. The winter season was alright. I found myself watching more leftover animes from the previous season but the animes I did watch from this season were good. Seton Academy has been funny and informative. Isekai Quartet is good although I am mad they snubbed my boy Naofumi especially after how much they built this up. ID: Invaded has been interesting. Darwin’s Game and Hanako are good watches. They can be slow, but I enjoy watching them. Of course the best anime from the winter season has to be Interspecies Reviewers. It makes me laugh, I love the characters, the various creatures they talk about, and it’s just a fun watch. Also, to Funimation who canceled streaming this anime because it falls outside of their standards: What standards!? You have a tab on your page that’s says fan service you stupid idiots! Who do you think your fooling!? Okay, now that’s out of the way, lets begin. These are the First Impressions of the spring anime 2020.
Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2
So the new season will have a slew of sequels starting with the much anticipated return of Re:Zero. Watching.
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai?: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen
Up next is Kaguya-sama the love comedy non-battle battle series returns. Watching it.
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Kan
Third season of the love comedy anime that I never really got into. Not watching
Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld Part 2
The final part of the Alicization arc. Watching it.
Fruits Basket 2nd Season
Second season of Fruit Basket. Not interested.
Shokugeki no Souma: Go no Sara
Food Wars is back for another season. Watching it but if you’ve read the manga you know that this is where the series starts to decline.
Kami no Tou: Tower of God
One of the more anticipated animes of the season. It focuses on a guy named Bam who has spent his life trapped beneath a mysterious tower with his close friend Racheal. One day Racheal enters the tower and Bam follows after her where he faces a challenge on each floor of the tower trying to find his friend. Watching it.
BNA
Speaking of anticipated animes, Studio Trigger is back and they’re at it again by combining three things I love in the world. Anime, basketball, and animal girls. This anime follows the story of a girl named Michiru who lived a normal life until one day she turned into a tanuki girl. She runs away to Anima City a sanctuary for animal people like her where she befriends a human named Shirou and try to figure out why she transformed. Watching it.
Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen 2
Second season of Honzuki no Gekokujou. Didn’t really get into this anime. Not watching.
Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta…
It’s isekai time and this one actually sounds interesting. A girl gets transported into her favorite otome game where she’s casted as the villain character where the end result for her will be either exile or death. Can she avoid triggering the flags of doom that seal her fate? I’m checking this out.
Gleipnir
This anime sounds interesting. Focuses on a guy named Shuuichi who can transform into a powerful beast which he keeps secret from the world. One day however, he uses his powers to save a girl and his quiet life is gone. Watching it.
Yesterday wo Utatte
A coming of age story that follows a college student looking for employment after graduating. I might check this out.
Kakushigoto (TV)
A man who draws a vulgar manga does his best to hide it from his daughter. I might watch it.
No Guns Life 2
Second season of No Guns Life. Skipping it. I never really got into it and I’ve heard mixed opinions about it as well.
Appare Ranman!
This anime sounds fun. After a mishap, a socially inept engineer and cowardly samurai from Japan find themselves on a boat drifting to Los Angles. Desperate to get home, the two enter the Trans-America Wild Race, a car race from Los Angles to New York City. During the race they’ll battle against outlaws, other racers, and the dangerous outdoors. I am so watching this. I want to see just how fun and whacky this anime gets.
Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai Deshou!
A guy gets isekaied to another world where he’s in the body of a 6-year old boy and heir to a poor noble family. He can use his magic to help his land prosper but if he does he it brings disaster upon himself. I will check this out.
Tsugu Tsugumomo
Second season of Tsugumomo. Another anime I didn’t really get into. Not watching.
Jashin-chan Dropkick’
Second season. Not watching.
Digimon Adventure
A reboot of the original Digimon anime. Watching it.
Arte
Taking place during the renaissance era, a young noble named Arte tries to break the norm and become a female artist. Watching it.
Fugou Keiji: Balance:UNLIMITED
A buddy cop story focusing on two detectives who solve crimes but are the complete opposite of each other. One is compassionate while another comes from one of the wealthiest families in the country and is materialistic. I’ll check this out to see where it goes.
Tamayomi
Anime about softball. Not interested.
Houkago Teibou Nisshi
Cute girls fishing. Not interested.
IDOLiSH7: Second BEAT!
Second season of the boy idol anime. Not watching.
Kitsutsuki Tantei Dokoro
A fictional story that takes place during the Meiji era and focuses on real-life poet Takuboku Ishikawa and real-life linguist Kyousuke Kindaichi, who were acquaintances in real life. Tabuboku runs a detective agency and gets Kyousuke’s help in investigating a ghost. Not watching.
Nami yo Kiitekure
A girl becomes a radio talk show host. Skipping it.
Shironeko Project: ZERO CHRONICLE
A fantasy RPG-like anime where an adventurer is out to save his friend with a mysterious girl they discover on an island. I’ll see where this goes in 3 episodes.
Gal to Kyouryuu
A gyaru hatches a dinosaur egg and raises the dinosaur to be a gyaru. Skipping it.
Princess Connect! Re:Dive
It’s Food Wars in another world. I might watch it.

A spin off that will focus on a boy band. Not watching
Bungou to Alchemist: Shinpan no Haguruma
We get transported to a world where we meet famous Japanese writers who help us purify tainted books. Not really I’m interested in, but I’m sure Mira and Yume will check it out.
Kingdom 3
3rd season of Kingdom. I had no idea the manga had an anime. Skipping it.
Shin Sakura Taisen the Animation
Here’s another anime that’s hard to sum up. By the looks of it does seem to have some history in the manga industry. I’ll give this anime the 3-episode rule.

Second season of the baseball hit Major. Not watching.
Yu☆Gi☆Oh! SEVENS
The 7th Yu-Gi-Oh anime that will introduce Rush Duels. Not interested.
Shachou, Battle no Jikan desu!
Based off a mobile strategy game, the story focuses on a bunch of adventurers who get employed to explore dungeons that appear in the sky. I might watch it.
Mewkledreamy
Mysterious cats that give girls the powers to enter dreams. Not watching.
Kiratto Pri☆Chan Season 3
Third season. Not interested.
Cardfight!! Vanguard Gaiden: If
Another season of Cardfight. Not watching.
Tomika Kizuna Gattai: Earth Granner
Hot Wheels and space aliens fighting over the Earth’s power with a splash of Gundam. Not watching.
Watanuki-san Chi to
Second season of the comedy anime where virtual idols are the VAs. Skipping.
Hakushon Daimaou 2020
A sequel to an anime from the 60s. Looks like everyone’s trying to copy Dororo’s success. Skipping it.
Garu-gaku.: Hijiri Girls Square Gakuen
Girls training to become idols. Not watching.
Norimono Man: Mobile Land no Car-kun
A kid’s show where the residents are cars. Not watching.
Continuing into the spring we have Plunderer and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T.
Movies and OVAs
We got some cool movies set to come out. We got the Violent Evergarden movie, Fate/stay night Heaven’s Feel third movie, Pyscho-Pass, Princess Principal, Digimon, Magical Doremi, and finally (and I mean finally) the final movie of Evangelion. As for the OVAs, nothing really interesting. Aside from a Ghost in the Shell OVA nothing else really seems all that interesting.
Final Thoughts
This spring is definitely going to be the spring of sequels, some that are highly anticipated and others that are not. Overall, the spring line up looks very good and solid.
