Hello and welcome to Project Nitsuj. Whenever I ask people what the best anime of 2012 was I always wind up hearing one of two animes, Sword Art Online and Space Brothers. Now don’t get me wrong these two animes are great but I don’t think they deserve the title of the best. Sword Art Online was very good in that it addresses questions of a virtual world and what would happen in it but let’s be honest, it’s basically, .hack/sign done correctly. .hack/sign addressed this idea years before SAO came along the only difference is that SAO did a better job on it than .hack/sign. Space Brothers was also good in that it teaches people to never give up on their dreams but I couldn’t really get into it. I watched liked a few episodes but just didn’t find myself all that invested in it so I stopped watching it all together. So you’re probably asking yourself what my favorite anime of 2012 was. Well, the answer to that question is simple. For me the best anime of 2012 was Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. Simply known as Magi by fans this anime is based off of a manga written by Shinobu Ohtaka under the same name who based the characters after characters from the famous book 1001 Nights or the Arabian Nights in English. Getting started back in 2009 the manga quickly earned popularity and recognition within the manga community until the anime studio A-1 Pictures (The Idolm@ster as well as SAO and Space Brothers) which I forgot to mention is a subsidiary of Aniplex which is owned by Sony Entertainment decided to turn the popular manga into an anime. What separates this anime from all the other animes in 2012 for me was that it was so creative and different from the others. I haven’t seen a manga/anime this creative and original since seeing the Big 5 (One Piece, FMA, Naruto, Fairy Tail, and Bleach). And since the anime will be starting its second season next month I can think of no better way to celebrate than by watching the first season to refresh my memory. Let’s jump on a magic carpet and go on a trip of magic and excitement this is Magi.
Opening and Ending Theme
The opening for this anime is “V.I.P” by SID. From the moment you hear the first note you immediately get pumped up to watch this anime. The animation is also nice in the opening as it matches the overall flow of the song, we get a good look at all of our characters, and you just can’t help but find yourself humming along to the song. I really can’t explain it, it’s like any anime that has SID doing an opening or ending for them it’s instantly gonna be awesome. The ending for this anime is “Yubi Bōenkyō” by Nogizaka46. I didn’t really find myself liking this song. Yeah it sounds cute but if you ask me it’s too cutesy. The singer sounds too much like a child that I’m not sure if the singer is supposed to be a child or if it’s an adult trying to sound like a child. I will however admit the instruments are good in the song.
Episodes 1-5
So our story begins in this alternate recreation of the Old World where apparently the whole world is a desert and is ruled by different kingdoms (I like to call it Arabia world). We see our first protagonist in the series Alibaba voiced by Yuuki Kaji (Issei from Highschool DxD and Subaru from Ro-kyu-Bu. It seems that Yuuki has found the common ground between his two best characters) working for one of the lords of the country to earn money to fulfill his dream which is to conquer a dungeon. In this world there are these mysterious pillars called dungeons that are ruled by a jinn. Each dungeon is like a labyrinth that has monsters and traps inside of it but it’s said that whoever reaches the center of the dungeon and conquers it will not only get the many treasures inside the dungeon but will also obtain the powers of the dungeon’s jinn for themselves (this sounds interesting and exciting. Better than playing the lottery if you ask me). As he’s loading up the cargo he comes across a little boy eating watermelons. This little boy is the second protagonist in the series who serves as the moe factor in the series, Aladdin voiced by Kaori Ishihara (Reki from Hidan no Aria. From badass sniper girl to chibi magic boy. Only in anime). Unlike the Disney Aladdin who was bland and only wanted to move up in the world the Magi Aladdin is a kid who has been living underground his whole life and is now on a quest to travel and see the world in the hopes of finding out who he is. Even though he’s a kid he’s quite knowledgeable and smart for his age. He also loves to smother his face in big breasts and anytime when he sees a girl with big breasts he jumps towards their boobs each time. After Aladdin insults the lord Alibaba is working for he forces Alibaba to work overtime for him without pay (this is where the Union finally comes in handy). The next day Aladdin follows Alibaba around saying that he’s traveling to find other jinns who might just be the friends of his jinn Ugo a giant jinn who has no head and lives in Aladdin’s flute (now technically Ugo isn’t Aladdin’s jinn he’s just looking after Aladdin because his master told him to. It’s never really explained all that much in the anime or the manga for that matter. Also when I say flute I mean an instrument not the one in his pants. That would be weird even for an anime). After witnessing Ugo’s power Alibaba tries to win Aladdin over by taking him to a brothel so that he can use Ugo’s power to clear the dungeon (bribing a man with beautiful women? That’s wrong but at the same time fair. Scene here: https://youtu.be/Q6KtUVUoocw). The next day comes and Alibaba is traveling with a caravan but it gets attacked by a plant monster who captures some of the slaves they’re transporting. Alibaba’s boss says to leave and let them die but Alibaba decides that he’s done being a coward who lies and only follows orders and punches his boss in face (something I think a lot of employees would like to do to their bosses) and tries to rescue the slaves. Using the grape wine from the cargo Aladdin and Alibaba save the slaves and destroy the plant (Plant monster: too. . .much. . .wine). We end with Alibaba and Aladdin officially becoming friends and riding back to town on Aladdin’s magic carpet cleverly disguised as a turban hat (I gotta admit that’s kinda cool) to conquer the town’s dungeon.
In episode 2 Alibaba and Aladdin reach the town dungeon known as Amon and get sucked into the dungeon (flashbacks of Twilight Princess are returning to me during this scene). Once inside the dungeon they come across all sorts of traps such as burning water, giant boulder chasing them (nice shout out to Indiana Jones), and fight these oozy insects (scene here: https://youtu.be/0dtKTBAehUk. (Isis): I like the way this dungeon thinks). They get past all the traps but Aladdin collapses from exhaustion because every time he summons Ugo he uses up a bit of his energy. The sharif (the ruler of the land. Even though he doesn’t own the land he is put in charge of controlling it) follows them into the dungeon, finds them, and forces Alibaba to work for him. The sharif also has two slaves with him. One is a giant man called Goltas who doesn’t talk much, wears a mask and gets constantly stabbed in the stomach by sharif whenever he’s upset. The other one is our third protagonist in the series, a cute red-haired slave girl named Morgiana voiced Haruka Tomatsu (Lala from To Love-Ru) who is extremely strong, athletic and possibly the most badass character in this show (okay, I’m convinced, any anime girl with red-hair is bound to be cute or hot and a total badass). They all come to a path that has fire pillars and the sharif forces Alibaba to cross it and turn the pillars off. He manages to get across and deactivate the pillars but another pillar rises beneath him and he dies (wow, killing off a main character in the second episode, this anime takes more risks than FMA when they killed off Hughes). Aladdin eventually wakes up and has a nice chat with Morgiana about how she doesn’t have to be a slave and should escape back to her home continent. When they get done talking Alibaba shows back up (he’s alive, alive I say hahahahahahahaha). He rescues Aladdin and they make their way to the gate of truth which is said to be the center of the dungeon.
They pass through the gate of truth and fly through what’s known as a necropolis (the land of the dead, though it’s not really a land of the dead since there’s no people here). They enter the inner most sanctum of the dungeon where the sharif comes in and fights Alibaba in a sword fight. Alibaba pretty much owns him in the sword fight using only his dagger (scene here: https://youtu.be/P5MJmv5qBw0, nice. A main character who doesn’t use a sword to fight. A nice change of pace if you ask me) but Morgiana comes in to stop Alibaba from finishing him off (damn she moves fast in those chains). The sharif orders Morgiana to kill him but Aladdin steps in to stop her using magic (scene here: https://youtu.be/Ukmru4flszc, your honor, I was blinded by the magic). The jinn finally appears revealing himself to be Amon the jinn of propriety and discipline (https://youtu.be/aa9BOryn2tI) and master of flames. He bows his head to Aladdin calling him a Magi a great magician who chooses the king to rule the world. He explains that the jinns are in the world for the sole purpose of finding a rightful ruler and train them. He also declares Aladdin and Alibaba the conquers of the dungeon (this game’s winner, Team Double A). As they’re all talking someone from the outside tries to seal off the exit and they have to escape or they’ll be trapped in the dungeon forever. Alibaba, Aladdin, and Morgiana escape while Goltas stays behind with the sharif who has lost his mind (not that he had one to begin with). As they’re escaping Alibaba and Aladdin agree to go on another adventure once they get back to town. They all make it out of the dungeon outside the town but Aladdin on the other hand was teleported to another part of the world. Also, Amon becomes Alibaba’s jinn and now resides within Alibaba’s dagger.
Episodes 4 and 5 center around Aladdin. We start off with seeing that Alibaba has used all of the treasure he got from the dungeon to free all the slaves in town (the world needs more people like him). He then decides to leave town and go look for Aladdin since he hasn’t returned yet and is worried about him. Aladdin wakes up in the tent of an old lady named Baba who is the leader of her tribe known as the Kouga clan. She can tell that Aladdin is a Magi and dives deeper into the Magi business by telling him that Magi’s are great magicians with incredible power who can see and use what’s known as the rukh better than anyone in world. Alright, time for a little learning with Chibi Isis. (Chibi Isis): The rukh according to Arabic mythology is a mythical bird that is said to be the home of souls where all people go when they die. In the anime they appear as they small yellowish white butterflies but when they combine they form a giant bird. It is invisible to most people and only those with a unique trait are able to see it. There are 8 different types of rukh in the world that the anime won’t get to this season but they’re the basic magic elements you find in the world such as fire, water, wind, lightning, sound, power, light, and life. The rukh is also considered to be the master of the jinn in the book 1001 Nights. Now you know and knowing is half the fun (???: Chibi~ Isis~). (Nitsuj): Getting back to the anime the Kouga clan are in a bit of bind with a nation called the Kou Empire a military empire from the east that is working to conqueror the west (really, Chinese people in an Arabic anime? Must you Japanese always add Asians to your anime even though the anime doesn’t take place in Asia? Now that I think about, why doesn’t Alibaba and Aladdin look Arabic in the anime? I’m not trying to be racist or anything I just find it weird that the anime obviously takes place in an Arabic world yet our main characters are either white or Asians). Anyway, Hakuei the third daughter of the first Kou emperor has come to the Kouga clan in the hopes that they’ll join the Kou Empire. She’s voice by. . .Nana Mizuki (Rico from Dog Days and Hinata from Naruto)? Wow, I did not expect her to be in this anime. While Baba seems to be okay with it since it will guarantee the safety of her clan the warriors are against the idea. Even Hakuei’s 2nd in command Ryosai doesn’t like the idea of making peace with the natives and just wants to slaughter them but Hakuei wants to resolve the problem peacefully and without bloodshed. That night Aladdin follows Hakuei back to her camp and has a chat with her asking her not to harm the people of the Kouga clan. Hakuei hears Aladdin loud and clear and makes a vow not to harm or kill a single soul of the Kouga clan (I like her. I know it hasn’t been 10 minutes yet but I like her). But Ryosai has plans of his own and stages a kidnapping of the women from the Kouga clan in the hopes that one of the warriors will kill a Kou soldier causing them to declare war with the Kou Empire. The warriors catch up to the caravan that has their women and they save the women without killing any of the Kou soldiers (Kouga warriors: you will not stand in the way of our nooki). Once they all return Baba tells the clan that they will surrender to the Kou Empire and they all agree to follow her. As she goes off walking she takes an arrow to the back and passes out (this is so much more effective than taking an arrow to the knee).
In episode 5 the Kouga clan can’t stay silent anymore and prepares for war. When Hakuei hears about them planning for war she goes to the village herself to see if she can clear up the misunderstanding but the Kouga warriors cuts her off in a canyon and confronts her. One of the warriors takes a sword slash at her and she takes the slash not fighting back at all (boobs. Brass boobs on that girl). Aladdin and the injured Baba come flying in on his magic carpet and she officially surrenders to the Kou Empire. The clan takes her back to the village where she unfortunately passes away (I gotta admit this scene almost got a tear out of me the first time I saw it). While that’s going on Hakuei tries to return to her camp but Ryosai has planned a mutiny and plans on killing Hakuei and the Kouga clan. Why, for war, the guy loves war, to him war is fun (you sick fuck). Hakuei takes out her metal vessel which houses her jinn and has the power to control wind to fight against her army. She manages to knock out quite a few of the soldiers but gets captured and about to be executed. Luckily, Aladdin shows up to take out the remainder of the army and has Ugo bitch slap Ryosai so hard that it kills him. Aladdin reveals himself to be a Magi and touches Hakuei’s metal vessel (I’m sure that’s not the only thing he wants to touch) and it materializes her jinn Paimon the jinn of love and chaos who is a BIG BREASTED TOPLESS WOMAN! Ugo comes out and uses sign language to talk to her like he did with Amon and Paimon informs Aladdin that there are other Magis out there just like him. After that scene we end with Aladdin getting ready to leave the clan and they give him Baba’s walking stick as a memento.
Episodes 6-9
In episode 6 we move away from Aladdin and shift our focus to Morgiana who is traveling with a caravan to Balbadd where she hopes to take a ship to go back to her home country known as the Dark Continent which she calls Catharge (the Dark Continent remains a complete mystery in the series so far but my theory is that the Dark Continent is actually Africa. In Morgiana’s flashbacks we see that the Dark Continent is a wide and open area where lots of animals roam free and according to other’s Morgiana comes from a tribe of hunters known as the Fanalis. Wide open area, roaming animals and hunters that sounds like Africa to me so in truth she should be dark-skinned. Keep the red hair though I think that’ll up her hotness). This episode is just a showcase of how badass and awesome Morgiana is. As she’s traveling with her caravan the group gets stuck in a town because there’s a large group of bandits that set up camp along the road waiting to ambush travelers. So Morgiana goes to their camp site and asks them politely to leave. Once they refuse she begins to kick their asses with her strong kicks and punches but she gets taken out by a gay slave trader at the campsite (scene here: https://youtu.be/AJzhGxSG6mo). She wakes up with her legs chained up in a cell with a little girl besides her wondering what will happen to them. Morgiana opening tells the girl they’ll be sold into slavery and forced to work for the rest of their lives (way to be subtle Morgiana, why don’t you tell her about the birds and the bees next or the real story of Pinocchio while you’re at it). The next day the gay slave trader decides to feed the little girl to his desert hyenas (who have four-eyes for some reason. I’m not gonna question it, we have jinns and magic in this world so why not throw some bizarre creatures). After seeing flashbacks of her past she gets up and does a moonsault flip on a metal plate crushing her chains and letting out a roar so loud that it breaks the sound barrier (might as well be a fus ro dah). But her awesomeness doesn’t end there, the slave trader than unleashes giant poison fanged white tigers to kill her but she just kicks the shit right out of those tigers (scene here: https://youtu.be/dLrOPV2Z0uM, and~ I just got a boner). She takes the key from the slave trader and unleashes the other captives where she sees that Aladdin is one of the captives among them. After they free everybody they decide to journey to Balbadd together and Aladdin gives Morgiana the nickname Mor.
We start off episode 7 by getting introduced to Sinbad the king of Sindria voiced by Daisuke Ono (Sebastian from Black Butler) who is hands down the best character in the anime and the man who cleared 7 dungeons and got himself 7 jinn to serve him (the most in the series so far). I mean it, this guy just comes in and steals the show from the main protagonists, everything he does is either funny, clever, or handled well and getting Daisuke to voice him just adds to his charm and likability. It’s like nothing really phases him or annoys him, even when he gets robbed in his sleep he’s not pissed off or worried because he just has a feeling it’ll work out in the end. After passing out drunk along the road to Balbadd Sinbad has all of his clothes and metal vessels stolen from him but luckily he runs into Aladdin and Morgiana naked (call the cops! These kids need an adult right now) and they give him some clothes to wear. When they arrive in Balbadd (which is a town by the sea that specializes in sea trade) he offers to show his thanks by offering a room for them to stay at while they’re in town. At the hotel we meet his two attendants (or caretakers as I like to call them) Jafar and Masrur another Fanalis just like Morgiana. We find out that the reason Sinbad is in Balbadd is to get the king to reopen trade with Sindria but he can’t because the city is being terrorized by a group of thieves known as the Fog Troupe who have been attacking ships and the rich (Arabian robin hoods). Because of this trading has stopped and the people of the kingdom consider the Fog Troupe heroes since they distribute their wealth with the people. After hearing that their leader is a man named Alibaba, Aladdin and Morgiana join forces with Sinbad to stop the thieves. That night they all confront the Fog Troupe and fight them but when their leader sees Aladdin summon Ugo he steps out to reveal that he is our Alibaba (et tu Alibaba, et tu).
Aladdin confronts Alibaba in episode 8 but Alibaba just walks past him and says he can’t keep his promise of traveling the world with Aladdin (dick move Alibaba! You’re a dick, an actual penis! Justin Bieber and 1D jack-off using you). The Fog Troupe escape using Alibaba’s jinn and make their way back to their hideout where we see that Morgiana has tracked them by picking up Alibaba’s scent (you reek of scum~). She picks him up and carries him all the way back to where Aladdin is staying (manhandled by a girl. Alibaba really needs to step back and check his game). After being bought back to Aladdin, Alibaba explains to him and the rest of the audience what the hell is going on. It turns out that the real leader of the Fog Troupe is a guy named Kassim, Alibaba’s childhood friend (a childhood friend who had a crush on you *holds samurai sword to chest*!? (Isis): No, they’re both males and they were just friends, nothing else. (Nitsuj): *puts sword away* Sigh, just once I like to go a week without having to point a sword at my chest). Anyway, Alibaba reveals his whole childhood to us showing that he lived in the slums with his loving mother while Kassim and his younger sister lived with their father who was an out of control drunk who abused his own children. After Kassim’s dad abandoned him and his sister and Alibaba’s mother passed away they decided to live together and look after each other like a family. As time went on Kassim turned to thievery to keep the others fed. One day the king of Balbadd (a black silhouette) came to the slums to pick up Alibaba saying that he’s his son (clearly Alibaba takes his looks after his mother). Years later, Alibaba sneaks out of the palace to go to the slums where he finds Kassim and tells him how he escaped the palace. Kassim than uses this information to sneak into the palace and steal the palace treasures which causes the king to have a heart attack and die. After hearing the news Alibaba runs away, joins a caravan to earn money and he eventually meets Aladdin where the anime picks up.
In episode 9 Alibaba explains why he’s helping Kassim. After they cleared the dungeon Alibaba goes back to Balbadd where he sees that the government has sold out to the Kou Empire and that the king, his step-brother Ahmad is to marry one of the princesses from the Kou Empire. Under Ahmad’s ruling the government has abandoned the people of the slums and left them for dead. Hell, they actually tried to kill them off by releasing an epidemic in the slums hoping to kill them off (I believe it was. . . the plot device flu). After seeing how corrupted the government had become Alibaba joins the thieves and devises a plan to reveal his true identity to the country and win their support over (by being a thief who steals from wealthy thus causing the taxes to increase for the little guys). After saying that Alibaba’s plan is flawed and reckless Aladdin and Morgiana decide to help him come up with a solution for the country (as long as their plan involves a fun action sequence I am all for it). After talking the Fog Troupe comes in and attacks them believing that they kidnapped Alibaba (well she technically didn’t kidnap him. It was more like an abduction). They invade the hotel to save Alibaba and kill Sinbad who has been eavesdropping on the gang’s talk. He and his caretakers take out some of the small fries and capture Kassim forcing Alibaba to fight Sinbad one on one. Alibaba loses (scene here: https://youtu.be/sGPuXWvjL1Y obviously, that’s fucking Sinbad, legend of the 7 seas, he could kick ass blind folded while being drunk off his ass). Rather than destroy the Fog Troupe he decides to join them much to Jafar’s confusion and displeasure (don’t make us give you an annoying bird sidekick voiced by Gilbert Gottfried) because he sympathizes with their cause (that and he considers Ahmad a fat dumbass pig who couldn’t rule a colony of ants even if he tried, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xfzZ7KGEv8). So the next day Sinbad and Alibaba go to have an audience with Ahmad. Alibaba pleads with Ahmad to help the citizens but Ahmad won’t listen to him and orders the guards to throw him out of the palace.
Episodes 10-13
In episode 10 we pick up where we left off, as Alibaba is being thrown out another character named Marriko comes in. He’s known as a banker and the one who’s been supplying Balbadd with Kou Empire money (cause he looks like a trustworthy guy right?). As he enters another person enters (one after one these characters). This is Judal voiced by Ryohei Kimura (Brave from Yu-gi-Oh 5Ds) a dark magi who is the priest of the Kou Empire and an old acquaintance of Sinbad. Also, unlike the rukh around Aladdin which is white and peaceful the rukh around Judal is dark and evil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urb6WPtoKIk). With the negotiations a total failure they return to the slums where Judal shows up and picks a fight with Aladdin because he is surprised to see another Magi. Why, because Aladdin is the 4th Magi in the world. It’s jumping ahead quite a bit but according to Judal there’s only supposed to be 3 Magis in the world. One is Judal, Scheherazade the priestess of Reim (or Leim) who has lived for over 200 years, and the final one is Yunan the one responsible for raising all the dungeons in the world. The fact that a fourth Magi has appeared while the other 3 are still alive means that something great is about to happen in the world. Masrur tries to stop them but his attacks are useless (http://youtu.be/ZjRicXxI6qY?t=6s). They have a pretty intense fight with Judal having the upper hand until Ugo comes out and fights him. Even though Ugo receives multiple ice shards to the body and goes berserk he manages to beat Judal by smashing him with his giant hands (big. . .strong. . . hands~. Scenes here: https://youtu.be/YNaKcv-Rs_0 and https://youtu.be/XCMkM-8bJ3g).
We start episode 11 with Ugo getting ready to finish off Judal but the eighth princess of the Kou Empire Kougyoku voiced by Kana Hanazawa (Charles from Infinite Stratos), comes in on a magic carpet and uses her own metal vessel to destroy Ugo’s body and force him back into the flute (scene here: https://youtu.be/BVsS4YwIJfE). She than focuses her attention on everyone in the slums and tells her chimeras to kill them all (holy shit this is a Kana Hanazawa character the Kana Hanazawa? The same person who’s voiced some of the cutest and sweetest anime girls in anime history? And they’re letting her voice this crazy girl? They’re ruining her image). As the fighting continues Sinbad grabs her and manages to steal her magoi making her weak and unable to use her jinn anymore. After getting a clear look and realizing that Sinbad is the one that grabbed her she instantly falls in love with him and turns on the tsundere mood (alright, Hanazawa’s image has been saved. Nothing less from the great Sinbad). After listening to Sinbad she decides to retreat on her magic carpet into the night (Isis: I can show you the world. Shining, shimmering, splendid. Tell me, princess, now when did you last let your heart decide? (Nitsuj): 0_0? (Isis): Oh get over it, I saw you sitting over there waiting to use that joke). (Nitsuj): After. . .Kougyoku leaves shit starts hitting the fan faster than a man who just won a burrito eating contest. Aladdin falls unconscious because he gave too much magoi trying to help Ugo and doesn’t wake up. Sahbmad the second brother of the Balbadd kingdom, a big coward who’s afraid of talking to people, and the one who’s been secretly aiding the Fog Troupe with information comes to inform Alibaba of what is to become of the people of Balbadd. We see how the banker tricked Ahmad into making Balbadd a country dependent on the paper money of the Kou Empire so much that their economy began to plummet and their debt rose enormously so much that they had to give up their ocean boundary, land, and trade rights to use as collateral (are you people crazy that’s practically handing a nation over to someone). But believe it or not that’s not even the worst part. The worst part is the sick plan Ahmad has come up with to pay back the debt and trust me it is very sick. He intends to put the human rights of the citizens in Balbadd up for collateral and turn the country his country mind you into a slave production country. In short, the people of Balbadd will and can be turned into slaves (that is the most fucked up thing I have ever heard in my entire life).
Picking up again in episode 12 Sahbmad tells them that they have only 5 days before the wedding ceremony between Ahmad and Kougyoku to stop Ahmad’s sick plan. After that the episode just serves as a preparation for the big fight. We see Alibaba train with Sinbad in learning how to use a jinn equip which will allow him to use more of Amon’s power and we see how he feels insignificant as a leader because of how awesome Sinbad is and how he’s able to lead others so easily while Alibaba keeps constantly failing and letting the people down by being able to do nothing (he basically feels like Shinji from Evangelion being compared to Zoro from One Piece. One is a badass swordsman who has balls that you could mistake them for watermelons and the other has balls so small that you question if he’s a man or a woman). As he’s walking through the town he gets kidnapped by Kassim who tells Alibaba that he plans on taking down the monarchy of the kingdom by using dark metal vessels given to him by an Arms Dealer and rallying the citizens of the country to join him in his war. Not wanting to see the blood of his people Alibaba decides to take matters into his own hands (about damn time if you ask me) and goes to the palace to force his way inside and have an audience with Ahbmad.
Episode 13 is just a kick ass episode. First off Alibaba takes on an elephant man from the Kou Empire and finally activates the jinn equip which turns his dagger into a full length sword known as the Sword of Amon (ohh~ I was hoping it would be a cooler dagger. Too many anime characters are using swords these days). With this new power he manages to slash his way through the elephant man and kill him (damn~ Alibaba just went real on us. Give me more). The next chimera that comes to fight Alibaba is a monkey man and his swarm of genetically altered monkeys. But Alibaba runs low on magoi and is unable to fight but lucky for him Morgiana catches on to his plan and fights the band of monkeys while he continues inside. He gets inside the palace where he fights the final chimera a cheetah man where his magoi runs out. However, Sinbad taught him a trick on how to replenish his magoi for an instant. He pours oil on the ground lighting it on fire with a spark, absorbs the fire with his dagger and kills the cheetah with one slash and makes his way to the throne room (you are just all kinds of awesome today Alibaba). As for Morgiana’s fight with the monkey, she kills that thing by doing a flying jump kick through his stomach (scene here: https://youtu.be/LGJdk-quKdo, my God she kicks ass).
Good God there is so much kick ass awesomeness in this episode that I’m surprised my system grid hasn’t overloaded itself from the sheer amount of it. *Lights go off* Hey what’s going on who turned off the lights? (Isis): You just had to jinx it didn’t you troll? The system overloaded from the anime and shut itself down. (Nitsuj): Damn it! Sorry guys I’m gonna have to stop here for today, this needs my attention at the moment. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj.
