Hey guys, Nitsuj here and welcome to the side blog the blogs between the blogs. If you haven’t heard yet Covid-19 sucks. It forced me into self-quarantine, it messed up my job, it cancelled my wrestling, and now it’s delaying my anime. Damn you Covid-19. So, if you didn’t know a lot of anime got delayed this spring due to the virus, but life goes on and despite the delays we were still treated to a good assortment of anime such as Tower of God, Kaguya-sama, My new life as villainess is funny, Arte is good, even though I didn’t get into it I’ve heard a lot of people like Gleipnir. With summer not too far off and with the delayed animes scheduled to air in the summer, now seems like a good time to do First Impressions. We’ll be taking a look at the anime set to come out this summer and give our first impressions on them. Is it something worth checking, skipping over, or watching it later. Before beginning let’s get the delays out of the way first. Scheduled to make a return this summer we have Re:Zero, SAO, Food Wars, Appare-Ranman, and Digimon 2020. Now that those are out of the way let’s get started. These are the Summer 2020 First Impressions.
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Kan
Alright, so we start off with a number of sequels as fan favorites are coming back such as the school comedy Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru S3. Skipping it.
Fire Force S2
Next up is the much anticipated return of Fire Force. After an entertaining first season I’m excited to see what happens next for Shinra and the others. Watching it.
DanMachi S3
Here’s the return of another fun anime DanMachi. Despite the problems of the series fans still enjoy it and are excited to see it return. Watching it.
Haikyuu!! To the Top 2
The second half of To the Top. Never really got into this series so skipping it.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
For my fans of psychological horror Higurashi is back. Watching it.
THE GOD OF HIGH SCHOOL
With the success of Tower of God, we’re getting another popular webtoon. The whole series focuses on a bunch of high schoolers fighting each other in a tournament to see who’s the best. I’m watching this. Are we about the enter the age of webtoons? Well if this anime is a hit like Tower of God then I welcome this new age.
Kanojo, Okarishimasu
Here’s an interesting anime. After a guy gets dumped by his girlfriend, he signs up for an online service that allows you to rent a girlfriend. The guy rents a girlfriend, but she wants their relationship to remain a secret from everyone. Easier said than done. They both go to the same university, their grandmas stay at the same home, and they live next door to each other. On top of that, she’s not nearly as nice as she is in real life. I’m checking this out.
Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha
Hey this sounds like one of my shonen ideas. A demon king grows tired with life and reincarnates in the hopes of finding a more peaceful life. 2000 years past and he starts going to school with his descendants and with magic not playing a major role in this era, nobody knows just how powerful this demon king is. Sounds interesting, watching it.
Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!
A high schooler who wants a quiet and peaceful life keeps getting bothered by his busty and energetic underclassman. Not watching.
Deca-Dence
From the studio that gave us Youjo Senki, comes an original idea. Humanity is on the brink of extinction thanks these unknown lifeforms called Gadoll. The remaining humans escaped into the sky and those that fight against the Gadoll are called Gears. Our main character Natsume dreams of being a Gear one day and partners up with a repairman named Kaburagi to achieve her dreams. Watching it.
Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan
The anime centers around an adventurer named Peter Grill considered the strongest man in the world. He has a girlfriend who he swears to spend his life with but the two haven’t move their relationship besides holding hands and his girlfriend still believes babies come from storks. Along with this, there are other girls from different races who want to marry Peter in order to have strong children. Watching it. I don’t know if it’ll be good or bad, but I’ll at least get a good laugh out of it.
Monster Musume no Oisha-san
Sadly, not a sequel to the Monster Musume that we all know and love. No, this is instead a different story entirely that focuses on a human doctor who treats all sorts of monsters at his clinic. Watching it.
Assault Lily: BOUQUET
Based off a collection of dolls, the Earth is being attacked by creatures known as Huge. The world creates girl soldiers called Lilies who are armed with weaponry that combines science and magic to fight against Huge. I might watch it.
Dokyuu Hentai HxEros
Here’s an anime that’s going to turn some heads. A bunch of high school superheroes are fighting against this race of aliens who feed off the libido of humans. It’s like what would happen if you combined My Hero Academia with Masou Gakuen HxH. I’m checking this out.
Gibiate
This series sounds cool. In 2030, a virus has infected human and turning them into monsters. A ninja and samurai from the Edo work with a doctor in the hopes of finding a cure for the virus. Watching it.
EX-ARM
A pretty generic set up. A guy loses his life in a car accident but gets reborn as a living weapon to combat monsters and find his lost body. I might watch this.
Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima
This sounds like a fun anime. After a war, women took over the Chuo ward. They’ve banned and destroyed all weapons forcing men to fight through rap battles using hypnosis mics that can influence people. Tokyo is now in the middle of a 4-way battle between rap groups fighting for dominance. I am checking this out.
Ochikobore Fruit Tart
A group of girls composed of former stars, idols, and up and coming idols are forced to form a idol group in order to repay 100 million yen debt. Not really interested.
Muhyo to Rouji no Mahouritsu Soudan Jimusho 2
Yeah I bet you forgot this was a thing. For those of you who forgot about this series or never heard of it, the series focuses on two guys who are experts in magic law and take on cases for people who are being haunted or possessed. The premise of the series was good, but instead of having a good balance of horror, comedy, supernatural, and serious undertones of the supernatural, the anime instead just goes for laughs with the animation not really matching up with the series. Not watching.
Senyoku no Sigrdrifa
A little bit of Norse mythology mixed in with magical girls who have to save the world. I might check this out.
Ikebukuro West Gate Park
Based off a series of urban mysteries, a bunch of guys keep finding themselves getting involved in dangerous situations. I might watch it.
Maesetsu!
A comedy anime about girl comedians struggling in show business. Not watching.
Lapis Re:LiGHTs
No information about this series but it looks like an idol series. Not watching.
Skate-Leading☆Stars
Boys doing team figure skating. If you were a fan of Yuri on Ice or just like figure-skating in general then this series is for you. Not interested.
Tsukiuta. THE ANIMATION 2
The second season of pretty boys with guns. Not watching.
Obake Zukan
A kid show that will show various monsters and spirits and explain why everyone’s afraid of them.
We have some leftovers from the spring. Aside from Fruit Basket all of them are animes that not a lot of people watch.
OVAs and Movies
We have a Fate/Grand Order that will adapt the sixth singularity, Kud Wafter a Key’s novel is getting a movie, and we’re finally going to get the first part of the Sailor Moon movie series that will adapt the Dead Moon arc. On the OVA front we have Great Pretender and Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo: Oretachi no Game Set.
Final Thoughts
