Project #496: Fate/stay night Heaven’s Feel

(Nitsuj): Hello and welcome to Project Nitsuj. Well guys, this is it. We’re in the final week of the Summer of Fate.

(Neo): Quite sad really. This has been one of the most fun summers I’ve had in a while.

(Nitsuj): Throughout the summer we’ve seen the Fate series at their best, worst, weirdest, and in-between. Still, despite the highs and lows it’s been interesting seeing all these stories and gaining a better understanding as to why so many people love this series so much and why they get excited whenever a new series comes out. And boy was that excitement at an all-time high when Heaven’s Feel was announced.

(Yume): A return back to the original game. Heaven’s Feel is the third route that shines the spotlight on Sakura. If there’s one thing all fans can agree on it’s that Sakura really gets the shaft in Saber and Rin’s route. She really serves no major role in any of their routes and quickly disappears despite being such an important character in the series. Thankfully, Heaven’s Feel changes that putting all of the attention on her.

(Neo): Rather than be an anime, Heaven’s Feel was instead turned into a movie trilogy. The first film came out in 2017 followed by the second one in 2019 and then the third one in 2020. The trilogy was produced by Ufotable (Unlimited Blade Works and Zero), so it was nice to see them back again.

(Yume): The trilogy was a big hit in and out of Japan grossing almost $60 million worldwide and received high reviews from anime critics who consider this to be the best the Fate series has to offer.

(Nitsuj): Well with this amount of hype, I can think of no better way to end the summer of Fate on a high note. This is Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel.

Presage Flower

(Neo): The first movie starts one year and a half before the events of the series (Nitsuj: Oh~ a midquel. I rarely see those in anime). We see how Shirou was quickly becoming the ace of the archery club despite being a first year, but it went downhill fast when he injured his arm while at his part-time job (a part of me thinks he did it on purpose). With Shirou’s arm injured and living by himself, he received a visit from Sakura with this serving as their first interaction with each other. Sakura soon started coming to Shirou’s house every day to handle his chores and look after him. Even when his arm healed she would still come by to take care of him (Yume: If that’s not a sign a girl loves you then you are as dense as osmium). Time and life were normal until one day Shirou runs into Illya after walking Sakura home (Nitsuj: How she isn’t overheating in that coat is beyond me) who of course tells him to summon his servant or else he’ll die. The only difference being is that this time she calls him big brother. From there, the story plays out with similarities to UBW and Fate/stay night animes. The news reports mysterious murders and Shirou goes to clean the archery club, gets attacked, killed, brought back to life and summons Saber (thankfully, they fast forward through all this. (Yume): No sense in wasting time on something we’ve seen already). We do get to see the first big fight in the series between Saber and Berserker where this time Archer doesn’t lend a helping hand and Shirou once again almost dies after protecting Saber (scene here: https://youtu.be/jsXp4zdhtyU). Shirou of course revives thanks to the scabbard in his body and then goes home with Saber. On their way home they see Rider sucking the blood out of a girl (Nitsuj: Dracula style. (Neo): Is there any other way? (Nitsuj): Yes, but this is the least painful and most romantic of the bunch). Shinji soon reveals himself and forces Shirou into a fight where this time Shinji seems like he has some level of magic and can use it. Too bad his servant is still weak from low mana and easily gets beaten by Saber (scene here: https://youtu.be/PLpuJivV-lI. (Yume): Ha! The look on his face is perfect. He thought he was going to come into this fight and completely own Shirou only to get owned himself. Priceless. I have never seen a man realize he just got owned). Rider soon disappears (Nitsuj: Once again. The first servant to be defeated in the war and made to look like an utter bitch) and Zouken (grandpa Matou) shows up not happy with Shinji and calling him a failure (that’s probably the nicest thing anyone has ever said to him) before dispersing into insects. Shinji also limps away, but vows revenge. Shirou then takes the girl who was injured to Kirei who heals her and he tells him about Kiritsugu as well as Saber. The next morning, when Shirou discovers that Shinji hit Sakura (Nitsuj: The chicken she cooked was cold) he talks her into staying at his place for a few nights (Yume: Yeah, keep him company he’s got plenty of room. For God’s sake he’s lonely. It’s like someone died in that place). Meanwhile, at Ryuudou Temple, Assassin gets killed from the inside by the true assassin who kills Kuzuki as well as Caster (Yume: Holy shit, true assassin living up to its name). However, before Caster disappeared her body gets dragged away by someone or something. Back with Shirou, he has a strange and erotic dream involving Sakura and Rin (scene: https://youtu.be/-AfW74Lg2EQ. (Nitsuj): What, no Saber? I thought he was going for the harem ending this time around) and then finds out about Kuzuki’s death from Rin who went to investigate the temple with Archer. Rin and Shirou decide to form a temporary partnership and Shinji eventually drops by Shirou’s house to confront Sakura where he hits her (https://youtu.be/EYWbatgKN4g) and takes his leave with Shirou not really doing anything (Yume: You know it’s hard to get behind Shirou as a hero when he lets someone he doesn’t like walk into his house, pimp slap his girl, and then leave with nothing happening to him). After this, we get a romantic moment between Shirou and Sakura where we see when Sakura first fell in love with Shirou, the high jump practicing (Nitsuj: First Rin and now Sakura. Is there some kind of kink I’m missing? (Neo): If there is then I have no idea what it is). After this, we get an awesome fight scene between Lancer and the true assassin (although I guess we can start calling him Assassin now seeing as how he killed the other one) as they fight throughout the city and wind up in some lake where Assassin sets a trap for Lancer and manages to beat him by ripping out and crushing his heart (scenes here: https://youtu.be/f1W2C4q6yNI and https://youtu.be/5IiGdXV-wow. (Nitsuj): Fatality! Oh wait, wrong series. Still, this might just be the most dominant assassin we’ve seen). On the other side of town, Shirou and Rin get into a fight with Zouken and his servant Caster. It turns out he was the one who dragged the corpse of Caster away and used his insects to reanimate her body and keep her around (Yume: Well what’s a guy to do? He can’t depend on his grandkids to win. He’s gotta do it himself). He tries to use Caster’s Rulebreaker on Saber only for Archer to step in and stop him. He then decides to have Caster unleash a powerful blast to destroy everyone in the area but stops when a mysterious shadow-like figure appears and completely absorbs Caster’s attack as well as Caster (they’re really torturing her this time around). Archer chops off Zouken’s head only to discover it’s a clone made out of bugs (Nitsuj: Bug clone no jutsu) who fly away. The shadow-like figure tries to attack Rin, but Shirou pushes her out of the way and instead gets attacked getting himself injured and the figure retreats for the time being. The next day, Shirou goes to talk with Kirei (who is doing a terrible job overseeing the war, but honestly I’m not surprised) who reveals that he is Lancer’s master and how Lancer was also taken out by Assassin and that shadow-like figure. He decides to ask for Shirou’s help in dealing with these two, but he says no as he doesn’t trust Kirei (Yume: Smart move). Meanwhile, Sakura confronts Saber about her allowing Shirou to get hurt (Nitsuj: You do the same thing, letting your brother walk all over you when you can easily beat him). After that, Shirou and Rin decide to focus on their own separate objectives. Rin is going to attack Zouken directly while Shirou is going to focus on the shadow-figure. Shirou and Saber head to Ryuudou Temple to do some investigating where they both get attacked by Assassin and Zouken. Assassin lures Saber to the shadow-figure where she gets presumably killed by the thing absorbing her. Once inside she comes across a corrupted version of herself known as Saber Alter. Back with Shirou he fights against Zouken only to get cornered when Assassin comes to fight and then gets saved by Rider whose still alive. Rider manages to beat Assassin and forces him to retreat (Nitsuj: Wow she’s still alive and kicking ass) to save Shirou’s life and then leaves. Shirou has a short confrontation with the shadow-figure who does nothing to him before vanishing and Shirou sees that his command seals are gone meaning he’s no longer a master. On Rin’s side of the story, she breaks into the Matou mansion and goes into their basement (Yume: That is not a good place to be. That is the place of nightmares) where Rin is disgusted by what she sees (what other reaction would you expect?). We do get confirmation that Zouken and Assassin seem to be working together (not sure if they’re master and servant) and we also learn that Zouken really is just a bunch of insects who have to devour other people in order to sustain his life. We end part 1 with Shirou returning home with Sakura waiting for him concerned about his injuries and well-being.

Lost Butterfly

(Yume): In the second movie, we see that despite being eliminated from the war, Shirou intends to keep on fighting no matter what. He runs into Illya who wanted to see him but takes her leave when he brings up Kiritsugu as Illya still hasn’t forgiven him (in her eyes, he abandoned her and her mom. (Nitsuj): He went out for milk and never came back. (Neo): Or in this case he tried to get back but lost his house keys). He then runs into Rin where he tells her about Sakura’s fever and they rush to go see her where they find out she’s been kidnapped by Shinji (Nitsuj: How the hell did he pull that off?). They go to the school where Shinji forces Rider to fight him only for Rider to launch Shirou at Shinji on purpose to take him down. Rin and Archer soon come in and subdue Rider and Shinji’s magic book gets destroyed again revealing to everyone that Rider’s real master is actually Sakura (Nitsuj: Wait, so in all these walkthroughs Sakura was Rider’s master?). The Matou bloodline has become obsolete and nobody in their bloodline can produce magic meaning Shinji doesn’t have the ability to become a mage. Shinji’s been using what’s known as false attendant’s writings which gave him brief control over Rider (Nitsuj: He can do that? (Neo): Well the Matous were the ones who created the command seals so I’m sure they know a few loopholes around them). However, they burn up fast which is what happened in the last movie. Shinji all this time has been jealous of Sakura getting all the attention and glory (trust me, in your household, it’s attention you don’t want), but still wanted to have his chance to gloat and stand above everyone (Neo: And you failed. Like always). With reality setting in and Sakura finally standing up to Shinji, he decides to douse her in a potion that makes her lose control of her mana and runs away. Rin and Archer try to attack her, but Rider fights them prioritizing Sakura’s safety over the safety of everyone else. She removes her blindfold and starts turning people into stone (Nitsuj: Hey look, she’s getting people hard for her). Sakura manages to get Rider to stop when she sees Shirou get injured by injuring herself. Shirou reawakens in the church (probably the last place he wants to be at) where Kirei operated on Sakura and managed to save her life however her life is still in danger. Sakura’s body has been infected with Zouken’s crest worms which act as living magical circuits (Neo: And parasites) feeding off her mana by arousing her destroying her mind and body. If left alone, they’ll ultimately kill her and they can’t pull them out because they’ve been in her body for so long. The only thing that can save her now is the Holy Grail (and seeing as how the war is down to a girl who has no wish, a crazy old bug man, a bipolar loli with a brother complex, a girl who has thirsty worms living inside of her and a mysterious shadow-figure that’s going around killing people, I say our chances are slim. (Neo): Wow, when you say it out loud this a very messed up war. Even more than the previous war and that one had a child murderer and a sadistic priest). Rin decides to do the humanitarian thing and kill Sakura since she can’t control her powers where it gets revealed that both Rin and Sakura are sisters (Nitsuj: Why she never approached her is beyond me. She had to at least be 7 or 8 when Sakura got taken away. Granted she was dealing with the death of her asshole dad and braindead mom, but still). Despite knowing this, Rin still decides to kill her little sister only for Sakura to go missing and it’s a race to see who can find Sakura first. Shirou once again runs into Illya who wants to help him out. She reveals that she originally entered the war to kill him and Kiritsugu but has now had a change of heart and doesn’t seem to want to kill her big bro. Shirou manages to find Sakura where he promises to protect her even at the cost of his ideals. This manages to win Sakura and Rin over and they return to Shirou’s house with Sakura moving back in. In a short time Rider starts to trust Shirou little by little, but Sakura’s crest worms keep making her aroused and causing her to have erratic behavior. Shirou and Rin decide to form an alliance with Illya and go out to see her where she’s in the middle of fighting Zouken and Assassin who in fact forged a pact with each other. The shadow-figure appears where it summons Saber Alter to fight Berserker (scene here: https://youtu.be/K59EaZms30Y). While the fight is mostly in Saber’s favor the animation and explosions are spectacular and we even get to see Archer take on Assassin which I think is cool (scene here: https://youtu.be/4uawPzeba3g). Despite Berserker’s best efforts he unfortunately loses to Saber Alter and gets absorbed by the shadow-figure (scene here: https://youtu.be/gPYvvNGWygw). Archer is able to drive off Assassin, but unfortunately gets mortally wounded. Shirou also gets wounded badly losing his left arm (tis but a scratch) and is fading quickly, so Archer does him a solid and gives him his left arm (scene here: https://youtu.be/vSaILO_7UVk, (Nitsuj): That’s a bro move right there). The arm needs to be sealed in a holy cloth because his body can’t handle Archer’s power (Neo: Oh yes it can). They make it back to Shirou’s place (Neo: Kind of surprised nobody has attacked this place yet) where Sakura gets jealous of Rin growing increasingly closer to Shirou, so she decides to make a move on him. She goes to his room and asks him if he loves her in a romantic way and he says yes which means the two have sex (Nitsuj: Hopefully he washes himself after he’s done. I mean we know what’s been inside her unfortunately). A few days go by where Shirou slowly starts to gain control of Archer’s arm and everyone seems to be enjoying everyone’s presence (Neo: I’m sure Shirou is. He’s in a house with three girls and one of them is sleeping with him. (Yume): Which does beg the question, are these walls soundproof?). Sadly, the good times can’t last forever. We get this weird dream sequence where Sakura is in some kind of wonderland only to return to reality and see that she’s been sleepwalking throughout the city and killing people left and right. Gilgamesh approaches her and tries to kill her only to fail and get killed himself (scene here: https://youtu.be/NNwoXOVldKo, wow. The strongest servant in the last two walkthroughs gets taken out by the meekest master). It finally gets revealed that the shadow-figure has been Sakura this whole time. As if that wasn’t bad enough it turns out that she’s the vessel for the Holy Grail instead of Illya and doesn’t have long to live. Speaking of Illya, we see her overhear Taiga talk about how Kiritsugu tried to return to her and her mom but failed. With this knowledge she’s finally able to let go of her grudge against him and move on with her life (Neo: You may have lost your dad, but you’ve still got a big brother). Getting back to Sakura, Shirou gets approached by Zouken who reveals that the shadow is a piece of the Holy Grail from 10 years ago (it always comes back to Zero). Zouken can barely keep it contained and once it gets loosed it’ll kill everyone. The only way to stop it is to kill Sakura and since Shirou is the only one Sakura will allow to get close to her, he’s the only one that can kill her. Shirou of course refuses to kill Sakura and after seeing the burden and stress she’s causing him, Sakura returns to the Matou mansion while using her last command seal ordering Rider to protect Shirou. Once Sakura returns home, Shinji tries to rape her where it gets revealed that he’s raped her a number of times in the past (Nitsuj: This motherfucker has got to die). She soon panics and “unintentionally” kills Shinji (https://youtu.be/81lfylzNUYU) which results in the piece of grail taking over her mind and body to end the movie (scene here: https://youtu.be/rZOxWc1nGt8).

Spring Song

(Nitsuj): The final movie starts with Shirou arriving at the Matou mansion and seeing the dead body of Shinji (he may be frowning but deep down he’s smiling. As is everyone else). Zouken appears again taunting Shirou before attacking him where he gets saved by Rider. Back at Shirou’s house, Sakura attacks Illya and Rin in order to get Illya so that she can be the vessel for the Holy Grail just like her mom (Yume: Well, there’s a good call back to the first anime. (Neo): Hey we had a deal, you don’t talk about the first anime and I won’t talk about Last Encore). Rin easily gets taken down and not even Shirou and Rider can stop Sakura who has been completely taken over by the corruption of the Grail (Shirou if you ever wanted to be a hero now is the time to do it). In order to save everyone Illya gives herself up and goes with Sakura back to the Einzbern manor to retrieve an item. Shirou goes to the church where Kirei manages to save Rin and then reluctantly begs him for help in dealing with Sakura (Yume: Oh the times they are a desperate). Kirei agrees to help him as he too wants to stop Zouken whose ultimate goal is to take over Sakura’s body once she becomes hollow. They drive up to the Einzbern mansion (don’t bother trying to chat with this man Shirou, he’s crazy) and manage to rescue Illya with ease (I never said it was subtle), but Sakura senses them and summons a corrupted Berserker to attack them and Assassin also fights. Kirei takes on Assassin while Shirou and Illya continue to run away from Berserker. During Kirei’s fight with Assassin we learn that his wife actually killed herself as an act to prove that Kirei truly did love her (Neo: That’s confusing) and he remembers his true wish for the Grail which was to learn: why someone as twisted as him was allowed to exist in the world. He manages to pin Assassin down and destroy the astral body of Zouken to force Assassin to retreat. Back with the stepsiblings, Shirou uses Archer’s arm to fight against Berserker. Using his tracing ability he recreates Berserker’s sword and uses that to kill him (Neo: Defeated by your own weapon. How the tables have turned). Before dying Berserker regains his sanity and tells Shirou to watch over Illya in his place (or else. Scene here: https://youtu.be/IAJccg_54RA). Saber Alter appears prepared to fight him but gets called back by Sakura after she gets done killing Kirei. Shirou and Illya return back home with Rin healed up as well ready to fight. It’s here that Rin and Illya explain that Sakura is about to give birth to Angra Mainyu the servant who corrupted the Grail in the third war (Yume: We talked about this in Zero, but here’s a quick reminder. Neo. (Neo): During the third war the Einzbern family were determined to win. So they cheated and summoned an illegal servant outside of the 7 classes known as Avenger. The servant they summoned was Angra Mainyu, King of Daemons who bore the six billion curses of the world in Zoroastrianism. A being who would crush the other servants with brute force. Sadly, Angra was incredibly weak because he wasn’t a god but instead a young man who was forced to shoulder the sins of the world. He was defeated in the early stages of the war and when his spirit came into contact with the Grail it became corrupted turning it into All the World’s Evil because it accepted his wish. It’s because of this that non-heroic servants such as Medusa can be summoned and why the Einzbern family were so determined to win the war. They wanted to cover up their mistakes. If another family won it, they would have discovered what they did and they’d be trouble). Once Angra is born he’ll unleash the 6 billion curses which will destroy the world and the only way to stop his birth is to either kill or subdue Sakura. Luckily, Rin and Illya think they know the weapon that can save Sakura and stop Angra from being born, the Jeweled Sword Zelretch, the oldest weapon known to mages. They combine their powers to show Shirou the recorded memories of their families so that he can copy the sword. As he absorbs all the memories he discovers that the Holy Grail was originally created to reach the Root of all knowledge (and just like all good things in the world humanity screwed it up). After taking in all the memories, Shirou manages to create the sword while damaging his body in the process. We get a scene where Rider was planning on killing Shirou in order to protect Sakura as she’s still loyal to her and refuses to harm her in any way (wow, she may just be the most loyal servant out of all of them. I knew there was a reason why I liked her), but Shirou assures her he wants to save Sakura and she agrees to offer her assistance as best as she can. Meanwhile, Sakura kills Assassin and kills Zouken as we discover that his real body all this time was a crest worm inside Sakura’s body (Yume and Neo: EWWW~. (Nitsuj): Wait, does that mean. . .EWWWWWW~). This is how he was able to control Sakura and how he was planning on taking over her body when the time came (Yume: Good thing he got found out). Sakura pulls out the worm and then crushes it ending Zouken’s life and getting ready for the final fight. Shirou, Rin and Rider go to Fuyuki Cave where the tainted Grail awaits. They run into Saber Alter who allows Rin to pass and takes on Shirou and Rider (Neo: I still can’t get over how easily Saber was corrupted. (Nitsuj): So much for the so-called King of Knights). Rider goes all out against Saber (Yume: Giving us some stunning animation. I’m surprised you didn’t mention that. (Nitsuj): At this point I’m used to it) and creates an opening for Shirou to land the killing blow on Saber (scene here: https://youtu.be/9qHtRiv0PcE. (Neo): You were the chosen one! You were my sister. I loved you). Rin makes it to Sakura where she uses Zelretch to hold her own against Sakura and even has a chance to kill her, but just can’t bring herself to do it (Yume: Behind that tsundere personality is a big softie). Rin hugs Sakura saying how much she regretted not being able to save her and gets severely hurt in the process (scene here: https://youtu.be/jp1JvlhTiHc). Shirou arrives where Sakura is overcome with remorse at what she’s done and begs Shirou to kill her (oh no you don’t. You don’t get the easy way out), but he instead tells her to keep on living and taking responsibility for her sins. He creates Rule Breaker and manages to sever Sakura’s link with the shadow thus saving her life (scene here: https://youtu.be/FCbQjpyc_X0). However, Angre refuses to give up and still tries to merge from the Grail. Rider takes Rin and Sakura to safety, while Shirou stays to stop Angra’s rebirth where a dying Kirei appears and tries to stop him as he believes Angra will show him his purpose in life (Neo: There he is. There’s the Kirei we all know and loathe). The two have a fistfight (Yume: Fisticuffs as they say in the old days) where Shirou wins and Kirei declares him the winner of the war before fading away. Shirou gets ready to destroy the Grail at the cost of his life before Illya shows up where in order to protect her big bro she sacrifices herself invoking the Heaven’s Feel ritual. This results in the Grail getting destroyed and Shirou’s soul being split from his dying body and rescued by Rider. A few months pass after the war ended and life has returned to normal for Rin and Sakura. Sakura returns to the archery club (you think she would transfer to another school given the death of her family and rumors that would spawn from it), she caught up with Rin, and Rider now has an incarnated body allowing her to stick around. As for Shirou, they manage to restore his soul by putting him in an artificial body (Yume: Oh no, he’s a living Ken doll). Shirou and Sakura become an official couple and the movie ends with everyone going to watch the cherry blossoms bloom.

Final Thoughts

(Nitsuj): Alright. A lot to cover and a lot to take in. Let’s start with Neo.

(Neo): The first movie is great and does a good job setting the story up for the next part while also giving us plenty of good and memorable moments. I did like how they fast forward through the first part of Shirou summoning Saber. We’ve seen it plenty of times already there’s no need to see it again. Some of the highlights of this movie include Lancer and Assassin’s fight throughout the city, Zouken playing a big role in the movie as the seventh master, and finally getting a chance to see Rider show off and see just how powerful she can be when given the right master. We also get our shocking moments such as seeing characters who were big threats or played a big role in the previous adaptations get axed off quickly. It was completely unexpected and did a good job building up this new threat we didn’t know anything about. The movie also ends on a good cliffhanger as we see Shirou lose Saber and get eliminated from the war early on. It was a big risk removing one of the most popular characters in the series, but it did a good job showing everyone that this isn’t her story and that will be focusing on Sakura.

(Yume): The second movie capitalizes on the first movie by giving us the answers to questions we had and does a good job focusing on the relationship between Shirou and Sakura. We finally get a chance to see all the torture she’s been through and how it’s affected her. It was also great to see that all this time Sakura was meant to be Rider’s master and not Shinji. The movie does a good job raising the stakes as we see Shirou and Sakura confess their feelings for each other making everything harder on the characters and the audience as we don’t want to lose any of these characters, and see them come out on top. While the fight scenes weren’t as many this time around they were still good to watch. The fight between Saber Alter and Berserker was good and it was still shocking to see a corrupted Saber fight as this was the last character you would think would ever become corrupted. Out of all the movies this one was definitely the darkest and most emotional of the bunch.

(Nitsuj): The final movie gives us an amazing climax as Sakura has become consumed by darkness and Shirou and the others have to dig deep and figure out a way to save her. This means forming strange alliances, using new powers and weapons, and coming up with strategies that think outside the box. Learning about the true history of the Grail and why it became this dark entity was much needed and mind blowing. It’s easy to get emotional as the movie progresses toward the end especially when Illya sacrifices herself in order to save her big bro. It’s an amazing watch as all the stories get wrapped up nicely. While the ending may be a little forced with Shirou dying only to return, I didn’t mind it all that much as it did give us a much-needed happy ending to this series.

(Yume): The main characters are handled well here. I did like how Shirou was more competent this time around. There was never a time where I felt he became unbearable to watch. The lengths he was willing to go for those he cares about were very understandable and seeing him master the powers that were given to him were cool. I did like his big brother little sister relationship with Illya as the two do a good job coming across as siblings despite spending most of their lives unaware of each other. His relationship with Sakura was also good as he realizes just how much Sakura means to him and the lengths he’s willing to go to save her and spend the rest of his life with her. Sakura really gains your sympathy throughout the movies and seeing Rin act as the tough big sister who can’t bring herself to kill her little sister is believable and matches up with her character. These movies show Shinji at his scummiest and pettiest as we finally see him as the talentless weakling he is who is jealous of Sakura and everyone around him who is more talented than him. I thought Zouken was a good villain throughout the trilogy. He does a good job playing this snarky villain where you’re not sure what he’s planning but keeps popping up as a nuisance and plotting in the shadows all while waiting to make his next move. The one character I think benefitted the most from this trilogy was Rider aka Medusa. In the other walkthroughs they made her look weak and unimportant. Here, we actually get a chance to see just how powerful she is as well as how loyal and caring she is when it comes to Sakura.

(Nitsuj): The fight scenes are spectacular here. Each movie delivers on giving us amazing fights in each one. The animation is stunning, the movements are fluent, and they’re just fun to watch. It’s hard to say which fight was the best, but I think my two favorite fights have to be Rider vs Saber and Lancer vs Assassin. Rider vs Saber fight showed Rider’s true power and how she can go toe to toe with Saber, and the Lancer vs Assassin fight had great choreography as well as excellent use of their surroundings and environments.

(Neo): The animation is simply stunning to look at. If you thought UBW and Zero looked great then prepared to be blown away by the animation in this movie. I can’t help but feel that ufotable just set a new standard for animation in the years to come. The music was also good and matched up perfectly with the scenes that were happening. I really don’t have any complaints about this trilogy. It told Heaven’s Feel route perfectly and never dropped the ball in any part.

Final Score

(Yume): My final score for Heaven’s Feel is a 9/10

(Nitsuj): I’m also giving it a 9/10. While I still like Zero a little more I will say this is the second best series in the Fate series.

(Neo): I’m giving it a 10/10. I have no complaints. This is as perfect a Fate series as I can ask for.

(Nitsuj): So that brings our final score to a 28/30 which gives us a final score of 9.3/10 which going by our system and enjoyment rounds up to a 9.5/10 with a must watch stamp of approval. If you enjoyed the other Fate animes then you’ll definitely love this movie trilogy as it doesn’t disappoint not even for one second.

(Neo): So Nitsuj. Now that you’ve finished watching all these Fate animes, what do you think of the Fate series now?

(Nitsuj): Well I have to admit this series is amazing. I can see why so many people like it so much. The stories and characters are great, the animation spectacular, the fight scenes amazing, and the lore of the series is fascinating as well as gets people interested in history and learning about the historical figures that appear throughout the series. I don’t know what the future holds next for the Fate series, but they’ve made me a fan and I look forward to seeing what they do next. Whether it’s a sequel or another spin-off.

(Yume): Since you got through Fate, maybe you can tackle Jojo next.

(Nitsuj): Oh, hell no! That’s too much even for me.

(Neo): Well, worth a shot. Thanks for reading everyone. We’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj.
