(Dust): So, you want to learn about Eclipses? Well, I’d be glad to share with you what I know. The enemies of mankind. The monsters of this world. The embodiment of nightmares. This is only a fraction of what people call Eclipses. Whatever you call them, they’re bad news. The name comes from the Elfan word hora-quan which means those who block out the light. But since a lot of people didn’t speak Elfan they decided to go with Eclipses instead. The first sighting of the Eclipse came about a year or so after the elemental crystal from space shattered. At first, the locals thought it was just the local wildlife, but they thought otherwise when a whole horde of them attacked the village and killed almost everyone. Shortly after this more of them started to pop up and attack villages and cities indiscriminately. Slowly taking over the land and pushing people to seek shelter in kingdoms.
Nobody really knows where these things came from or how they’re formed. Some say they’re the result of animals infected by the shattering of the crystal while others say they’re an alien race who landed on our planet centuries ago, and some have even gone as far as calling them the final form of demihumans. As a kid, I was taught that they were the embodiment of the land’s hatred taking form. Personally, I don’t care what they are. In my book, they’re a pain in the ass. They come in many forms. Their most common form is wild animals but you can always tell them apart from a regular animal thanks to their yellow eyes, black bodies, and yellow markings that create weird designs all over their body. Some have even taken on dangerous forms such as a giant snake and there have been reports of some even taking on the appearance of humans and elves. Trying to negotiate with them has proven pointless, but observations have shown shocking results. They don’t need food or water to survive or grow and they don’t need sleep either. That means, that all this manslaughter is pointless and just killing for the sake of killing. When they die, their bodies evaporate so studying them can only be done when they’re alive and at their most dangerous. While we may not know what the Eclipses are, the one thing we do know is that they have only one mission: to destroy all life on the planet. How do we know this? It’s because they told us directly.
