Hello everyone, Justin here and welcome to the Otaku Mind where it’s the return/revenge of the Shonen Ideas. That’s right I’m back with some more Shonen ideas that I think would work out great as an anime/manga/light novel and I wanted to share them with you guys. So get ready, these are my Shonen Ideas.
Title: The Hero Who Was Once a Demon Lord
Inspiration: Isekai anime
Premise: I actually went back and thought about my other demon lord idea and realized that it wasn’t really all that good. It didn’t make that much sense, so I decided to rethink the idea and with some animes focusing on the demon lord and putting them in hilarious situations I thought I would take a second crack at it.
Story: The story focuses on a demon lord named Allister who has conquered the world. He’s conquered all opposing kingdoms and defeated every hero that has come after him with ease. However, this has caused him to become bored with life as there’s no challenge for him. One day, he finally has enough and allows himself to get captured by a hero on purpose where he gets executed by the masses. Rather than die, Allister’s soul gets reincarnated as a human child all while keeping his demon lord powers a secret from everyone. Rather than grow up and reconquer the world, Allister instead decides to become a hero and fight against the newly formed Demon Lord Council believing that will cure him of his boredom.
Title: The Thoughts of Gamers in Another World
Inspiration: Isekai Anime and Siskel and Ebert
Premise: Another isekai series I’ve been thinking about for quite sometime where instead of having one person we have two friends find themselves in another world who both play videogames. I have a friend who’s an amateur programmer and actually works on making videogames in his spare time. When we get together we often play videogames and we would each point out the ups and downs of videogames from the perspective of a gamer and programmer. So I thought to myself, that actually sounds like the set up for a good isekai story.
Story: The story focuses on two adult characters. One of them is Kaito a pro-player and the other is his good friend from college named Souma who is an amateur game programmer. Together, the two run an internet show where they talk about and play videogames each viewing it differently. Kaito reviews the game from the perspective of gamer while Souma reviews the game from the perspective of a programmer. The show became popular from how passionate and knowledgeable the two were about videogames and how they would bicker with one another over their disagreements like Siskel and Ebert. One day while the two are on a train to a con, the train crashes and the two wake up in another world that follows the basic ideas of an JRPG. Rather than panic the two decide to become adventurers and look for a way back all while enjoying the experience they’re in and bickering with each other over the various scenarios they find themselves in.
Title: Taka 1868-2168
Inspiration: Samurai Jack
Premise: I always do enjoy a good fish out of water story. This is actually one of the reasons why I like to travel. Visiting other places and experiencing the lifestyles of other people. One of the cool ideas from Samurai Jack was seeing Jack this relic from the past survive and adapt to this dystopian future. So, I wanted to give my take on this.
Story: In an alternate reality, Taka a young and skilled samurai fighting for the Meiji Empire gets frozen in a block of ice. He becomes unfrozen 300 years later to discover the Meiji Empire was defeated and the Tokugawas still rule Japan. Under their rule Japan has become enslaved with the people suffering and anyone who opposes them being killed. Enraged by this, Taka takes up his sword and tries to kill Keiki Tokugawa VII only to fail and be left for dead. He gets saved by a resistance group composed of descendants of notable characters from the Meiji Empire who are being led by a descendent of Meiji. With a new sword in hand, Taka rises up to fight along side the resistance group in this dystopian future and end the reign of the shogunate once and for all.
Title: Underworld Revolution
Inspiration: Bakuman, Food Wars and other non-battle manga/anime
Premise: I love music and with non-battle manga/anime becoming more and more popular in the community, I thought it be cool to have a battle of the bands story.
Story: The story focuses on a young artist named Kiryu, who dreams of one day performing at Budokan with his band Underworld. The battle is now on for Kiryu and his friends to sharpen their skills and work their way up from the bottom of the musical world to the top where they’ll have to face off against up and coming bands like them, learn new skills to play better, write songs that grab the attention of the masses, and perform gigs to increase their popularity. The revolution has begun and leading the charge is Underworld.
Title: Fairy Tail: The Chronicles of Fox Tail
Inspiration: Fairy Tail, Lupin the Third, and The Bandit King Jing
Premise: Despite the faults of Fairy Tail I really did like the series. I’ve discovered that there are a number of Fairy Tail spin-offs out there and I wanted to make my own which takes the attention off Natsu and the others and focuses on a new guild entirely.
Story: We follow the story of Ina Marcus a member of Raven Tail who left the guild after the events of the Magic Games tournament with his good friends Zeke a swordsman from a distant land and Melix a gunslinger. Together, the three form a new guild called Fox Tail a guild of thieves who go around robbing from the rich, other guilds, and treasure hunting. See their stories as they gain new members and carve their names into the history of the world and everyone in it.
Title: Pokémon: Pokken Legacy
Inspiration: Pokémon
Premise: I really did like the idea of Pokken and thought it would make a good spin-off from the original Pokémon series. Shockingly, there’s no mangas based off this setting or at least none that I could find. So, I figured I take a crack at it and create my own Pokémon setting using the battle system of Pokken.
Story: In the Ferrum region, Pokémon battles are fought differently as trainers and Pokémon fight as one and hone their skills to one day be declared the Pokken Champion. Kazuya a young trainer joins the world of the Pokken league along with his partner a Lucario nicknamed Jet to achieve his dream of being champion. Follow their story as two make friends and rivals, catch new Pokémon, hone their skills, and battle others who also seek to stand at the top of the Pokken world.
