Hello! Justin here, and welcome to the Otaku Mind. So if you noticed I didn’t post a blog doing a First Impressions of the winter anime for 2024. Well that was because of two reasons. One, a lot of the anime that came out this season was anime I wasn’t interested in watching and didn’t feel the need to do it. Second, was time. The new job at work is taking up more time than I originally thought so I’ve decided to make a few changes to better fit the schedule. So as of right now I am retiring the First Impressions. However, I’ll try and give my thoughts on the next season’s anime if there are a lot of them I’m interested in watching or do a list like today’s blog. If you’re like me, you only had like 2 or 3 animes this winter season you were interested in watching. Thankfully, spring is around the corner and the line-up is awesome. So awesome in fact that I’ve already got 11 animes I plan on watching and I’m here to name them. I’m Justin and these are the Top 11 Anime I’m excited to watch from the 2024 Spring line-up.
#11. Blue Archive the Animation
Cute anime girls with guns. What’s not to love? The hit mobile game will finally be getting an anime release this spring. Even though I stopped playing the game years ago I’m still excited to see this series get an anime and curious what the story will be. Judging by the poster it looks like sensei won’t play a major role in the anime and we’ll instead be focusing on the female cast of the game which was the main drawing point.
#10. Date A Live V
The fifth season in the Date A Live series. It’s hard to believe this series has been around almost as long as I’ve been reviewing and the fandom is still strong. With the way season four ended you know Kurumi is going to play a major role as well as Reine and what about DEM and Inverse Tohka. There’s a lot to explore next season and I look forward to seeing what they do next.
#9. The Irregular at Magic High School S3
The god of Anime has returned. Despite the faults of this series I still enjoy it for it’s good fighting scenes, OP main character, and cute girls secretly fawning over him and him not caring as he only has eyes for his sister who may or may not be related. The season is set to cover three arcs from the novel so I’m not sure if it’s going to be 12 or 24 episodes. It’s being done by 8-Bit who have been known to do 24-episode animes but I think they’ll have their hands full with another anime which I’ll get into later.
#8. Viral Hit
A webtoon from S. Korea. I’m glad to see their stories getting recognition in the world. The story focuses on Hobin this scrawny high school boy who gets bullied and lives in poverty. Taking the advice of a Newtuber, Hobin begins fighting his bullies and posting them online getting famous and making money in the process. How far can he go? I do enjoy underdog stories and I’m curious what direction this series will go.
#7. Spice and Wolf
An anime I thought I would never see again. Spice and Wolf is one of my favorite romance novels and I was bummed that we never got a third season. This reboot will restart the story from the beginning and hopefully they’ll be allowed to tell it all the way to the end this time.
#6. MHA S7
The seventh and quite possibly the second to last or last season of MHA. As we inch closer and closer to the final showdown between our heroes and villains the question is who will be left standing when all is said and done and what will be lost in the aftermath of it. With the manga rumored to be ending this year I’m going to enjoy every minute of both the anime and manga and see how it all ends.
#5. Konosuba S3
One of the funniest and best isekais out is finally back and I couldn’t be happier. I didn’t really get into the spinoff all that much. It was alright, but Megumin is at her funniest and best when she has Kazuma and the others to work off of.
#4. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime S3
Another isekai series that I love. Now that Rimuru is a demon lord what new challenges will he face and I wait with anticipation for his rematch with Hinata.
#3. Mushoku Tensei S2 Part 2
The final isekai that I’m excited for. I know some people didn’t like the first half with Rudy going to school and trying to get his mojo working again and that’s fine. The anime doesn’t tell you to like Rudy but rather understand him. He’s a messed up man with issues but is trying to be a decent person.
#2. Demon Slayer S4
It’s the calm before the storm. Now that Nezuko has been revealed to be the chosen demon everyone knows that Muzan will be coming after her and thus the demon slayers prepare for his arrival. Just like MHA there’s a possibility this will be the second to last season (I can see them making a movie for the final arc) so I suggest you grab a seat and enjoy every second of it.
And number one. . .
#1. Kaijou No. 8
I went back and forth between this anime and Demon Slayer but ultimately I’m most excited to see this anime. This is their fourth season so I already know what I’m in for. Kaijou No. 8 on the other hand is a series I’ve been excited to see turn into an anime for years. If you’re a fan of Attack on Titan, Pacific Rim and kaijou then this anime is for you. Next to Spy x Family this is the series that helped popularize the Shonen Jump app.
And those are the animes I’m excited to watch this spring. There are other animes I’m excited for and will check out but these 11 animes are the ones I know I will watch. What animes are you looking forward to watching? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time.
