(Seras): Hello. My name is Seras.
(Yin-Yang): And I’m Yin-Yang. Welcome to Project Nitsuj. School is tough. Whether you’re an adult, teen, boy or girl school is tough. You have to do homework, study, maintain a good image in the hopes of attracting opposite. But I think the boys in Prison School had it much harder than any of you out there.
(Seras): Based off the manga written by Akira Hiramoto. Prison School is an anime that came out in 2015 under the studio J.C. Staff (Zero no Tsukaima series, Arcana Famigilia, and Danmachi) Prison School was an anime that caught the attention of a lot of people last year. It was hands down one of the most anticipated animes of 2015 and one of the best animes to come out that year.
(Yin-Yang): People were drawn to it because of its dark setting with a surprising twist of suspense and comedy that you wouldn’t expect given its premise. And since we’re both fans of the series we’re here to look at it today. Class is in session. Let’s take a look at Prison School.
Opening and Ending
(Seras): The opening is “Ai no Prison” (Prison of Love) by Kangoku Danshi which is basically the voice actors of the male cast. It’s an ironic song title once you start watching the anime. It’s a rock song and it’s a pretty good song. The VAs sing well together, the visuals of the opening match up perfectly with the song, and the beat is relatively good to listen to.
(Yin-Yang): The ending is “Tsumibukaki Oretachi no Sanka” (Our Sinful Hymn) by Kangoku Danshi. It’s another rock song which at first I didn’t like but now that I go back and listen to it it’s actually very good. You can tell the VAs are having fun singing this song. Unlike the opening which was meant to be serious the ending is lighthearted as the group sounds like they’re having a jam session. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were told to sing this song as if they were in a karaoke bar.
Episodes 1-4
(Seras): The anime opens up in Hachimitsu Academy a school known for its strict discipline and excellent record as a college prep school. The school was once an all-girls school but has just recently gone coed and now the ratio of boys to girls is 1 to 200 (well those are some good odds of getting laid). So far only 5 boys have entered the school. Kiyoshi voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya (Levi from Attack on Titan), Gakuto voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi (Laxus from Fairy Tail), Shingo voiced by Kenichi Suzumura (Lavi from D-Gray-man), Joe voiced by Daisuke Namikawa (Yu from Persona 4 the animation), and Andre voiced by Kazuyuki Okitsu (Yin-Yang: What the hell is wrong with his face?) and so far none of them have talked to any of the girls (because they are unpopular, weird, and most of all perverted). Kiyoshi decides to be a man and tries talking to one of the girls but fails (well at least he tried. Glad to see one of them has balls). Fortunately, he has luck with his classmate Chiyo who is a fan of sumo wrestling and Kiyoshi decides that he too is a fan. He manages to arrange a date with her but he has a chance to screw it up by going to peep with the other boys that night. He gets caught by Chiyo but luckily she’s nearsighted and took out her contact lens so she mistakes Kiyoshi as one of the girls and goes into the bath with him with all the other girls who apparently don’t recognize the obvious boy among them (Yin-Yang: Wow, they are blind, stupid, or both). The other boys try to join but get attacked by crows on the roof (scene here: //youtu.be/6cuyQx-lwxI, quick, get the wire hangers). They all get captured by the Underground Student Council a council that protects the girls and punishes the boys for their sexual acts. We have Meiko the busty and sadistic vice president, Hana the sweet secretary, and Mari the president who thinks all men are scum. As punishment for peeping the boys are sentenced to 1 month in the school’s prison where they’re to be put to work by the sadistic and voluptuous Meiko and her whip. She beats them each day with Kiyoshi speaking out against her but the others are okay with this treatment in fact they actually enjoy it (these guys are the worst). Seeing how Meiko’s methods aren’t working anymore they get handed over to Hana the secretary of the council who may appear sweet at first but is actually a master black belt and wears shorts underneath her skirt so no more panty shots just straight up beatings (scene here: //youtu.be/3rZJ5j2V4jk). While out looking for four-leaf clovers Kiyoshi helps a baby crow get back to its nest where he spots Chiyo who doesn’t believe he peeped (you’re right, he just took a bath with you). He tries to tell her the truth but his heart won’t let him and he instead sets up a date to go to a sumo wrestling event with her (you are a fool) and he falls out of the tree and lands in front of Hana about to take a piss in the forest.
Episode 2 opens up where episode one left off where Kiyoshi gets a front row view of Heaven’s Gates (Yin-Yang: He wants to knock on Heaven’s Door). Naturally she screams out of embarrassment and the boys are sent back to the prison for the rest of the day. We find out that Mari the president of the underground student council who thinks all men are scum (not all of them. Just 99.9% of them) as well as the daughter of the academy’s chairman (Yin-Yang: Who has a thing for Latin girls and their butts) is told she has to give the boys Saturdays and Sundays off if they’re model prisoners. Once the boys hear this they decide to act like model prisoners but Mari discovers that her father was looking up Latin porn on his computer (who looks up porn on the school computer?) and in a fit of anger she refuses to give the boys the weekend off. This is bad for Kiyoshi because he has a date with Chiyo in 2 weeks so he decides to break out of school prison. He slowly begins digging a hole in the back of the disposal shed with a fork (Yin-Yang: Would have been funnier if it was a knife. (Seras): Why not a spoon? (Yin-Yang): Too cliché) but Gakuto discovers his plan to break out and instead of snitching he instead decides to help Kiyoshi but in return Kiyoshi must get Gakuto a limited time Romance of the Three Kingdoms figurine going on sell in Akihabara the day of Kiyoshi’s date (never thought Gakuto was a fan of historic literature). They work out a plan which involves getting the shed destroyed so they would be forced to rebuild it alone but Hana is there to watch over them so they can’t work on the hole however she does have one weakness. After Kiyoshi saw Hana’s private parts she’s now afraid that Kiyoshi will tell the others but of course he’s a nice guy so he won’t do it but Hana doesn’t believe him and tells him to pee right in front of her that way they’ll be even (O_O, you’ve got issues). Throughout the episode Hana tries to get Kiyoshi to pee saying that if he doesn’t do it she’ll kill herself and him (not in that order) until finally she forces him into the bathroom, removes his pants, and gets a golden shower courtesy of Kiyoshi (Scene here: //youtu.be/RAzseoGei6g. (Yin-Yang): Now this means Hana belongs to Kiyoshi). Hana decides to take a few days off meaning Kiyoshi and Gakuto are free to work on the hole without distractions.
In episode 3 the plan hits a road bump. After working on the hole for days they finally get it to the right size where Kiyoshi can go in and out (Yin-Yang: That’s what- (Seras): If you say that’s what she said, I’m going to stick my scythe up your ass. And no I’m not talking about the handle). But their plan hits a wall when they find out that next Saturday there’s going to be a track meet and they’ll be helping out so they won’t be near the hole on that Saturday. Another problem is that Shingo suspects something is going on between the two. Kiyoshi manages to find an air duct by the bathrooms which will allow him to crawl unnoticed passed everyone right by the hole (all he needs is an excuse to stay in the bathroom). As for the Shingo problem, due to a series of misunderstandings (Yin-Yang: On Shingo’s part mind you) Shingo gets the idea that Kiyoshi and Gakuto are doing it with each other (oh that is disgusting. Scene here: //youtu.be/b99BFZsgxac). Back with the cover-up for Kiyoshi, Gakuto acquires a recorder and plans to use it to download pooping sounds from the internet (Yin-Yang: Is that a thing? Has society really sunk that low?). When the boys have IT with the girls Gakuto searches the internet only to find that there’s no mp3s for pooping sounds (yeah I’m going to call bullshit right there. (Yin-Yang): Same here, it’s the internet they have everything). With no other choice Gakuto proves how good of a wingman he is by literally soiling his pants in front of the whole class to get the pooping sounds (scene here: //youtu.be/T-c172JFJSI, that glorious bastard just ruined his school life but at the same time gave Kiyoshi a way out). With this their plan all seems set except for one tiny little problem. The principal sealed up the hole with cement while burying his porn (Yin-Yang: Gakuto sacrificed his school life for nothing). Defeated, embarrassed, and with nothing left to do (huh, kind of sounds like a Youtuber who got his channel deleted) Gakuto is all but set to give up until Kiyoshi comes up with another way to escape the school (Yin-Yang: Dude, you lost. Just accept your defeat and go on a date with Chiyo after your one month sentence is up). He plans to steal one of the girls’ uniform and escape dressed as a girl. Gakuto agrees to the plan however Kiyoshi says they have to keep suspicion off of their plan so the next day Gakuto clinches their plan by doing the unthinkable. He rips the skirt off of Mari (it’s just a figurine man it’s not worth getting killed over. (Yin-Yang): She is going to kill him).
Picking up where episode 3 left off, episode 4 opens up with Gakuto getting a piledriver (Yin-Yang: Good God almighty! Good God almighty! That killed him! As God is my witness his skull is busted) and attacked by crows. As punishment for this Gakuto gets his head shaved by Meiko (wow, it’s like looking at a whole new person) but it turns out this was all a part of Gakuto’s plan. He wants Kiyoshi to use his hair as a wig to look more like a girl and escape (wow, Gakuto is a true bro). After securing a girl’s uniform the next day comes where they set their plan into motion. Kiyoshi escapes out the bathroom and puts on the girls uniform to walk out the front gate unnoticed (he almost got caught by Meiko and Mari but he managed to get away). While Kiyoshi is gone Gakuto makes up the excused that he’s using the restroom and uses that recording on him shitting himself to cover for Kiyoshi (Yin-Yang: And it surprisingly works). Kiyoshi makes it to the sumo wrestling matches (still wearing his prison uniform for some reason. (Yin-Yang): I guess black and white stripes are in) and enjoys watching sumo wrestling with Chiyo even though he has no interest in sumo wrestling whatsoever (Yin-Yang: Yeah this is weird even for me. I can understand a girl liking wrestling but sumo wrestling. That’s stretching it pretty far). Everything seems to be going great until Chiyo accidently spills some tea all over Kiyoshi’s bag and sees the girl’s uniform inside. When Kiyoshi comes back after using the restroom Chiyo calls him disgusting and leaves. Why? Because the uniform that Kiyoshi stole was Chiyo’s (Yin-Yang: Oh son of a bitch). Things get worse back at the school where Meiko becomes suspicious of Kiyoshi using the restroom for so long and goes to knock the door down ending the episode on a cliffhanger.
Episodes 5-8
(Yin-Yang): Episode 5 picks up where episode 4 left off. Meiko knocks the door down and Kiyoshi is there (he made it back. (Seras): Yes. But the most important question, did he get the figurine? Because if he didn’t he is an asshole). Sure enough Kiyoshi got the figurine and is sad about his date with Chiyo (Seras: It’s just one girl you’ll have plenty of girls in the future. Maybe, I don’t know you all that well). When Kiyoshi and Gakuto think they’re in the clear Mari shows up to reveal that she knows about Kiyoshi breaking out of school and going to the sumo match with Chiyo (busted). How does she know? Chiyo sent her a picture. Why (get this), because Chiyo and Mari are sisters (what!? But how? (Seras): They have the same colored hair so by anime logic they are related to each other). The others find out about this and are rightfully pissed because now they’re all liable for the prison break and as punishment their sentence is extended by another month (Sears: Fuckin’ H). Kiyoshi gets locked up in solitary confinement (reserved for the…criminal) while the others are still mad at Kiyoshi not because he extended their sentence but because he didn’t tell them about his breakout plan. In their eyes Kiyoshi was basically saying I don’t trust you guys and Gakuto sort of breaks character and doesn’t really explain the situation to them out of fear that they’ll distance themselves from him as well (that’s kind of a dick move on his part). Mari wants to expel Kiyoshi from the school (Seras: Expel? I thought for sure she was going to feed Kiyoshi to her crows for putting the moves on her sister) but she doesn’t have the authority to do that so instead she manipulates the broken Kiyoshi to sign a withdraw notice. He’s about to sign but (//youtu.be/W8QRExBfQhs) Chiyo comes in now knowing the full reason as to why Kiyoshi did what he did (he did it out of love. *Yin-Yang and Seras begin to laugh* I’m kidding, he did it in the hopes of getting laid in the future. Tell me I’m wrong?) and apologizes for not hearing his side of the story. She says that if Kiyoshi is expelled than so is she because she shares the blame as well for inviting him to the match. She also says that Kiyoshi isn’t a bad person because he helped a baby crow to its nest and according to Chiyo (which she learned from Mari) a person who is nice to crows isn’t a bad person (Seras: That’s a load of bull and you know it). Mari doesn’t believe Kiyoshi helped a crow however after Chiyo threatens to withdraw from the school as well Mari allows Kiyoshi to stay and Chiyo warns Mari that if she ever tries anything like this again she’ll leave the school as well (scene here: //youtu.be/lANd1FpU9zk). So Kiyoshi is sent back to the prison school where Shingo, Joe, and Andre give him the cold shoulder and Kiyoshi accepts it. Hana finally makes her return where she’s become fixated on Kiyoshi (that girl’s gonna try to pee on him now) and we find out that the Underground Student Council are putting an operation into plan to get all the boys expelled from the school.
At the start of episode 6 we find out that Mari’s plan to expel the boys is to have all the girls turn against them thus bringing down their public opinion and giving the chairman no choice but to expel them from the school (Seras: That’s diabolical. I like it. But we can do better). To do this they decide to make Shingo their rat (oh Shingo why? Being a rat is the worst thing to be in a prison) and spy on the others to find their weaknesses and exploit them. They start with Joe by getting him to believe that one of Mari’s crows is eating his ants. In a fit of rage Joe pushes Meiko down to the ground and once he sees all his ants are gone he tries to attack Mari with a twig but Kiyoshi stops him and instead gets the twig shoved way up his ass (*Meanwhile in Japan* Nitsuj: Urgh~. I got a chill down my spine. The girls must be reviewing something that involves male pain). Joe gets locked in solitary confinement and Kiyoshi is taken to the nurse’s office by Hana (oh man, there’s a horror movie scene right there). Hana wants payback for what Kiyoshi did to her in episode 2 (it was your fault you know) so she’s going to pee on him (as much as I respect you for your martial art skills I’m just gonna come out and say it. You’re a crazy bitch). Before she can pee on him (Seras: I believe the kids call it R.Kellying) Chiyo comes in to check in on Kiyoshi and since they don’t want to get caught in this awkward position (if you wanna call it that) they duck and cover under the bed with no pants on and Kiyoshi getting a boner which touches Hana and causes her to pass out (scene here: //youtu.be/uejw70l3AYg. (Seras): Oh that girl is going to be a good sex slave when she gets older). A few days pass and Joe returns where he actually stands up for Kiyoshi and tells Shingo to stop being a brat and get over it (thank you Joe). The episode ends with Meiko giving Shingo two hours of freedom and allowing him to leave the campus (the perks of a snitch may be good but your soul now belongs to the devil).
Episode 7 opens up with Shingo (or Judas as some of you are probably calling him. (Seras): I prefer to call him a soulless bitch) out in about in the free world. He goes to the arcade where he plays Street Warriors (which is somehow better than Street Fighters. (Seras): They got rid of Capcom. (Yin-Yang): Ah~, that explains everything) and befriends a girl by the name of Anzu an upperclassman who takes an interest in Shingo as does he. She invites him to see the Grapes of Wrath but he’s not sure when he’ll be off next so she hands him an armband and tells him to leave it on the fence when he has his next off day. He returns to school where out of luck he finds the sword of Guan Yu one of Gakuto’s figurines lying on the floor of the bathroom (eww~). He hands it over to Meiko who doesn’t see value in it until she accidently feeds it to Mari and finally does some research on the sword to find out it belongs to the Guan Yu figurine. Meiko finds the figurine in the bathroom closet (again eww~) and presents it in front of the boys. Her plan is to get Gakuto to admit he helped Kiyoshi escape thus making the escape require bigger punishment and extend their prison time (Seras: All this just to get the boys expelled. Look, I’m all for torture but only when people deserve it these boys have done nothing. I get it, you have a lousy male role model in your life but don’t take your anger out on other boys or assume they’re like your dad). She keeps threatening to break it by sitting on the figurine hoping Gakuto will crack and finally does but in an act of badassery he destroys the figurine thus destroying all evidence of his part in the escape plan telling Kiyoshi that his friendship with him is more important than a figurine (wow, he gave up 7 years of his life to save his friendship with Kiyoshi. (Seras): Even on real life terms that’s pretty badass). Gakuto later admits to the other guys that he was in on the escape plan and apologizes to them including Kiyoshi for being a coward and ignoring the bullying he endured. Shingo, being an asshole wants to punish Gakuto but Joe and Andre stand up for him and say that he’s suffered enough pissing Shingo off (Seras: Oh you have no right to judge him you fucking snitch). When Mari finds out about the sword being on the bathroom floor she faints and as punishment for Meiko she has her wear a tight shirt and dress properly (I imagine a lot of you boys are crying right now). Mari takes over the operation and orders Meiko to punish all the other boys except for Andre since he’s a masochist. The episode ends with Chiyo helping Meiko who was suffocating in the hallway because of the tight shirt and getting her a glass of water where she sees the plans of DTO and finds out they’re about to enter the final phase.
We see in episode 8 that Andre is wasting away after going one full week without getting punished by Meiko (Seras: One full week without punishing him! What are thry thinking!? By God do you want him to die? A masochist can’t go that long without some form of punishment. (Yin-Yang): Okay, it’s really scary that you know a lot about all this S&M stuff. (Seras): Have you met me?). Kiyoshi begins to suspect that the Underground Student Council is up to something so he goes to talk to Shingo but he gives Kiyoshi the cold shoulder. Shingo is given time off so he goes to see Grapes of Wrath with Anzu (bring a pillow it’s gonna be a boring movie). However, he has to be back by 6:30 pm or it counts as a jailbreak (Seras: Son of a bitch I know what they’re planning). While working Chiyo manages to send a message to Kiyoshi using shogei pieces. With the help of Gakuto he’s able to decode her message about the boys getting expelled today (oh my God it all makes sense now! First get Shingo out of the school and be late. Anzu is a spy for Mari. She’s gonna make Shingo late resulting in a second jailbreak. But what about the third jailbreak? Who be dumb enough to try and- ANDRE!). After they decode the message the Underground Student Council tricks Andre into breaking the fence resulting as an act of jailbreak thus expanding their sentence by 3 months (Seras: Fuck, you serious?). Back with Shingo and Anzu they ditch the movie and hangout in the park where they see some kids bullying their friend because he ditched them to hang out with a girl. This pisses Shingo off and he sticks up for the boy getting bullied telling them that he’s free to do what he wants and that picking on someone isn’t very manly (Seras: Said the pot to the kettle) and that they should forgive their friend. After saying all of this he realizes he’s been an asshole this whole time (finally! There might just be hope for this guy after all) and decides to go back early and apologize to the others. Anzu moved by his act of selflessness (really? It wasn’t all that inspiring) comes clean and confesses that she’s a spy of the council and she tempered with his watch in the movie theater meaning his clock is off and has only 5 minutes to get back to school (Seras: This is low even for me). Shingo rushes back to school but it’s too late, he’s late and the boys are to be expelled by the end of next week. Shingo apologizes for his actions to the guys and rather than be mad at him they instead forgive him (you guys do that. As for me, *takes out knives and kunais* it’s target practice time). However once he tells them about his date with Anzu all bets are off. As the girls celebrate their shameful victory the boys don’t give up hope and decide they’ll find the plans for DTO and expose the girls for the frauds they are and go to the seaside school where they’ll get to see the wet t-shirt contest Meiko talked about (she’s lying you know? (Seras): Well they gotta have something to believe in).
Episodes 9-12 and OVA
(Seras): At the start of episode 9 Shingo (Yin-Yang: Hey you stopped calling him Judas. (Seras): For now at least) tells the group that he saw the plans for DTO on the laptop in the correctional office within the prison. However, they all believe the email has been deleted but Gakuto assures them he can restore the email using software from online and find the plans (alright we got us a light of hope). The only problem is the office is locked and the only way in is to get the keys which are always on Mieko (alright here’s what you do. When she enters the studying area four of you attack her from the front while the last one knocks her out from behind with a chair. (Yin-Yang): Actually, I think they’ll just trick her into an arm-wrestling match, steal the keys from her pockets, and while she’s too distracted arm-wrestling everyone Gakuto will sneak in the office and restore the email. (Seras): If you wanna play it safe your whole life Yin-Yang that’s your lost). But yeah, following Yin-Yang’s words that’s the plan they go with however both Kiyoshi, Shingo, and Joe lose easily to her (Yin-Yang: I think she might have broken Kiyoshi’s arm in their match) however she has a hard time beating Andre because she’s too distracted by his one strand of nipple hair (in her defense that would distract anyone. Scene here: //youtu.be/rWa5FiXG-m4). With Andre defeated Gakuto rushes back to the studying area and returns the keys but unfortunately he didn’t have time to restore the email meaning they’re still screwed and expelled.
In episode 10 the boys have pretty much given up and accepted their expulsion (well on the bright side you guys won’t be force to do manual labor and get whipped like slaves). Gakuto’s spirit is so broken that he loses his mind entirely and acts insane around everyone. On the night of their last meal Gakuto finally regains his sanity (Yin-Yang: Did he ever have it to begin with? *Seras high fives Yin-Yang*) where he tells the guys that he has a plan to prove their innocence (oh that’s great except YOU’RE ALL GETTING EXPELLED TOMORROW). When Meiko comes in with their withdrawal papers they all decide to write an appeal to the school’s chairman hoping to extend their expulsion a few days. After writing the appeal they beg Meiko to give them to the chairman and she agrees to it but when she sees the nasty food that Gakuto wasted she shreds the appeal up (such cruelty). The next day comes and as the boys are being led to the gallows (Yin-Yang: Have you made your peace? (Seras): I think we all know the answer to that) the chairman meets them in the hallway and decides to hear them out back at the cells. Why? Because the appeal was a decoy. Kiyoshi wrote about the chairman’s hidden treasure behind the school and how he knows about it (I’m pretty sure everybody knows he has a butt fetish). The chairman takes this as a threat and decides to talk to the boys in private where they beg him to postpone their expulsion. He says he’ll do it but only if they answer his question, a question that men have asked themselves and others since the beginning of time: butts or breast, which do you prefer (Pyro Jack: Breast. (Jack Frost): Butts. And you know you ladies can’t deny this booty *Frost turns around and begins to shake his booty. Yin-Yang throws a shuriken at his butt but it doesn’t faze him*. Ha! My snow covered butt absorbs your shuriken. (Yin-Yang): 3…2…1 *All of sudden Frost’s whole body gets shocked by electricity*. (Jack Frost): AHHHHHHHHHHH~ *Frost passes out on the floor*. (Pyro Jack): Electrified shuriken nice). Kiyoshi knowing the chairman answers butt (lies! You’re clearly a breast man. I can see it in your eyes). Kiyoshi is correct but the chairman wants to know why he’s a butt man (and don’t give me “you don’t need a reason to like something” because that’s a load of shit). Kiyoshi thinks deeply about this and goes on a rant saying how breast are just a pale imitation of the butt. This answer moves the chairman that he postpones their expulsion but only until tomorrow (scene here: //youtu.be/cKHUgJ5suIA). The boys take it and Mari is pissed that the boys are still in the school. At the end of episode Hana asks Mari if she can watch the boys on their final night because she remembers what happened in the nurse’s office and now she wants revenge on Kiyoshi by chopping his dick off (scene here: //youtu.be/xs784wRXWmM).
In episode 11 time of the essence and the boys are ready to act their plan tonight. To do they request the help of Chiyo and Anzu offers to help her out as well (Yin-Yang: Someone fell in love). Mari, believing that the boys are up to something has Meiko guard the premise of the prison (why don’t you do it you lazy bitch? Seriously, you’ve done nothing except sit from the sidelines and watch. Do something to earn your title). When the boys see Hana bring them they’re food they’re shocked to see her because their plan was to do the same thing as last time. Distract Meiko long enough for Gakuto to get in the office and restore the file. But now that Hana is here they’re plans have been screwed (//youtu.be/Vau2hG22DoQ). Kiyoshi decides to be the sacrificial lamb and face Hana himself (since they have such a great history together. (Yin-Yang): Yes, he sees her pee, he R. Kelly’s her, and he put his penis within her thighs. The relationship between these two is so high that she could practically kill him). After working out a plan to get into the warden’s office, Hana takes Kiyoshi back into the warden’s office where his goal is to distract Hana and unlock the outside door which will allow Chiyo into the office (what does she play in this plan? Not entirely sure myself to be honest). So the two of them are alone, in the office, with nothing but a table standing between them (Yin-Yang: What would the neighbors say? (Pyro Jack): Just bang already! *Yin-Yang throws an electrified shuriken at Pyro Jack* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~ *Pyro passes out on the floor*! (Yin-Yang): I wasn’t asking you). Once again Hana wants to see Kiyoshi pee into a cup and he takes the initiative by completely exposing his lower body, putting the cup on his penis and asking Hana to hold it for him (in a real world situation this would be called sexual harassment. (Yin-Yang): In a real world situation this would be the opening to a very strange porno). Kiyoshi has discovered that through his encounters with Hana, she’s not used to these kinds of adult-like situations thus Kiyoshi is trying to play the mind game and psyche Hana out. At first this plan works and Kiyoshi is able to unlock the door (Yin-Yang: That’s good) but Hana not wanting to be defeated exposes her lower half as well throwing Kiyoshi off a little bit (what in the world are we watching?). The tension finally breaks when Meiko knocks on the door asking to come in saying that she’s caught someone sneaking around the prison. The person is Anzu who is acting as a decoy to get Meiko away from the prison and allow Chiyo to sneak in. Hana panics and locks the door forcing Meiko to take Anzu somewhere else (Yin-Yang: That’s bad. (Seras): A little delayed there huh Yin? (Yin-Yang): I couldn’t find a good spot to come in). In the heat of the moment Kiyoshi sees Hana’s private parts (or Medusa as he calls it) and pops a boner embarrassing Hana even more that she finally breaks down and cries asking why it’s always him who sees her in such embarrassing moments (because the author enjoys watching you cry. (Yin-Yang): And he most likely ships you two). Kiyoshi feels bad about what he did and tells Hana to hit him as much as she wants to make herself feel better. She begins hitting him but stops and decides that beating him up won’t be enough to satisfy her anger. Instead she’ll steal everything precious to him and takes away his first kiss (scene here: //youtu.be/1nTjnbSBQGU).
Justice is finally served in the final episode. The kissing between Kiyoshi and Hana continues where Kiyoshi discovers that Hana isn’t giving him an adult but instead a child kiss (for those of wondering at home that means no tongue). Kiyoshi finally figures out that Hana is a child on the inside and thus exploits this and gives her a full on adult kiss resulting in one of the hottest kisses ever seen in anime (scene here: https://youtu.be/o5ZdvsygwB8. The kiss is too much for Hana and she passes out allowing Kiyoshi to unlock the back door for Chiyo. Hana regains consciousness (Yin-Yang: Get that girl a medic. She had a kissgasm) and takes Kiyoshi back to the holding cell where Gakuto and Joe ask to use the restroom before bed time. The next day arrives and the boys are taken to the headmaster’s office where Meiko notices something’s off about Gakuto (what? Is he not crazy enough?). We see that Gakuto is in fact Joe and Joe is in fact Chiyo (Yin-Yang: And this sexy wolf girl co-reviewing this anime is an 8 or 9 out of 10 according to the fanbases out there). It turns out that last night when Gakuto and Joe went to the bathroom Chiyo was there and they switched clothes with each other. Why? So that Gakuto could sneak into the warden’s office and restore the DTO files. Once he restored it he used the back door to escape to the outside when Mari and Meiko made their rounds and stayed out there until morning where he was attacked by the girls for walking around in his underwear (I’m sure this wasn’t a part of the plan). Gakuto hands the headmaster a flash drive with the DTO file on it and he sees for himself that the boys were set up by the Underground Student Council (Yin-Yang: Busted bitches). Hana realizing that her feelings were toyed with attacks Kiyoshi breaking his hand but gets stopped by Mari who says that this was all her fault (don’t try and play that noble card this late in the game. You are still a bitch). So in the end the boys are released from prison and actually get to have a decent school life with the girls with some even developing relationships with them. As for the Underground Student Council they are sentenced to prison where they are to be overlooked by the Aboveground Student Council (scene here: //youtu.be/-DJ1mQv4pT0. (Yin-Yang): Yeah, that feels right).
(Yin-Yang): We do get an OVA of this series that really fell under the radar by a lot of people. I can’t even tell you when it came out. The continues where the season ended with Mari, Meiko, and Hana being put in the school prison by the Aboveground Student Council led by Kate who seems to have some history with Mari and Meiko (childhood rivals). After that we just focus on the boys as everything seems to going their way (//youtu.be/VpV3pAVPnS4?t=4s). Kiyoshi and Shingo are developing relationships with Chiyo and Anzu, Andre is becoming friends with the girls because of his masochist personality even Gakuto has found a girl who also shares an interest in the 3 Kingdoms. Everyone’s doing good except for Joe who’s having anxiety about being outside the prison. In Joe’s eyes he wasn’t born with the skill set of the others. He’s not as handsome as Kiyoshi and Shingo, smart as Gakuto, or a masochist like Andre he’s just an ant farmer with a face we never get to see (Seras: I bet money that behind that hood lays the face of a handsome man that drives the girls crazy). No longer able to stand the outside world Joe decides to get back into the prison where everything makes sense by walking into the girls’ locker room. . .naked~. Andre recognizing the odd behavior of Joe tries to stop him but instead enters the girls’ locker room naked instead and gets beaten up (Seras: Well this worked out in the end) while Joe receives a muffin from one of his classmates (I think he’ll be just fine).
Final Thoughts
(Yin-Yang): Prison School is a great and funny anime that keeps you entertained from beginning to end. The show does an amazing job developing it’s characters while also keeping the story moving to an exciting and suspenseful conclusion. You really do come to admire and cheer for the boys and hope they come out on top.
(Seras): The best character in this show by far has to be Gakuto. He is true bro who puts his friends before his own interest. The lengths he goes for Kyoshi to escape and sacrifice he made to keep his friendship with Kyoshi is rather touching and respectful. I do wish we would have had more time to spend with the other 3 boys as it would have been nice to explore them a little more but for what we see they’re passable as far as characters go.
(Yin-Yang): The Underground Student Council are seriously straight up evil. You really do come to hate Mari throughout the anime as she has this personal vendetta against the boys for no apparent. Okay yes they peeped but that’s seriously no reason to try and expel them from the school. Not to mention this whole thing wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t create this divide in the first place. So yeah she and the rest of the council are great antagonist to this series. Meiko is downright sadistic and Hana is both innocent, funny, and scary at the same time.
(Seras): The one great thing about this anime is that it holds nothing back. This anime stays very true to the manga and doesn’t pull no punches. We get brutal scenes of the boys being tortured and beaten, some rather disturbing and gross scenes such as the peeing scene and some high quality fanservice scenes that are great and fit well within the anime. Honestly, it’s one of the best fanservice animes I’ve seen.
(Yin-Yang): Along with these scenes we also get comedic scenes throughout the anime whether it’s the boys and their over the top facial expressions, antics, or lines or even the scenes with the school’s chairman you’re guaranteed to find something in this anime to laugh at and enjoy. As far as the animation goes the anime much like the manga tries to look as realistic as possible. It can look a little weird at times but I works here. The facial expressions of the characters are always great and the overtop especially on the boys and the music is both suspenseful and fitting for this anime. This anime isn’t necessarily meant for everyone as it has a lot of fanservice and some very unpleasant scenes at times so if you’re not a fan of fanserivce or brutal scenes chances are you’re not gonna like this anime. Personally none of this stuff bothered mean and knowing Seras I can safely say it didn’t bother her either.
Final Score
(Seras): Our final score for Prison School is very strong and very good 9/10 with a must watch stamp of approval.
(Yin-Yang): And a must watch paw print of approval.
(Seras): This really is a great anime that balances out story, characters, and fanservice excellently. It’s up there with other fanserivce animes like H.O.T.D, Highschool DxD, and To Love Ru. Rumor has it a second season will be coming out later this year but by the looks of it I think we won’t be getting a second season until the beginning of next year since J.C. Staff will be busy with Food Wars and there’s rumors that they’re making another season of Danmachi so J.C. Staff is definitely on a roll with producing good animes and I can’t wait for the next season.
(Yin-Yang): Well that’s it for us. Thanks for reading and we’ll next you next time on Project Nitsuj.
