Hello everyone. Justin here and welcome to another side blog the blogs between the blogs. Well next week will be April which means we’ll be entering spring which means it’s time for new anime which means it’s time for First Impressions. That’s right, I’m here once again to give my first impressions on the anime set to come out next month and which ones I’ll most likely watch. The winter anime was fantastic, I really enjoyed The Promised Neverland, Rising of the Shield Hero, My Roommate is a Cat, Domestic Girlfriend, Mob Psycho 100 S2, Date a Live, Kakegurui and my personal favorite Dororo. On top of that, we got some great openings last season. I’ve already got 6 candidates for anime openings of 2019 so I’m very excited for what’s to come in the spring. Let’s get started. These are my first impressions for the spring anime of 2019.
One Punch Man S2
We start off with the most anticipated anime for the spring, One Punch Man. With Mob Psycho 100 ending soon, we can all take comfort that One’s most popular manga, One Punch Man is coming back. The only downside is that it’ll be done by J.C. Staff instead of Madhouse. While J.C. isn’t a bad studio, there’s no way their animation will be up to the same level as Madhouse but like I said before there’s more to an anime then animation. Definitely watching this.
Attack on Titan S3 Part 2
Next up, part 2 of Attack on Titan S3. With the corruption of the government finally exposed we can now get to the violence and titan slaying that they’ve been building up to and with the teaser we got at the end of the first part, I think it’s safe to say that the second part will deliver. Definitely watching.
Bungou Stray Dogs S3
Third season of Bungou Stray Dogs. No doubt Mira and Shizuku will be happy about this and I’m gonna do my best to join them.
Kimetsu no Yaiba
Set during the Taisho era, a young boy lives peacefully as a coal seller with his family until one day the family is slaughtered by a demon and the boy’s younger sister gets turned into a ferocious demon. Now the boy and his sister are on a journey of vengeance to find the demon and return the sister to normal. Sounds promising. I ‘ll check it out.
Kenja no Mago
A young man gets reborn into another world where he’s adopted by a powerful mage who teaches him the ways of magic but failed to teach him common sense. Might watch it.
Fruits Basket
Here’s another anime a lot of people have been excited about. This new season will adapt the entire manga. So it’s getting the FMA: Brotherhood treatment? Good for them, I wished it happened to more to other works. Not interested.
Chihayafuru 3
Third season of Chihayafuru. Didn’t get into this series so I’m skipping this anime.
Boku-tachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai
This anime sounds interesting. A boy receives a scholarship for college, but the catch is he has to tutor the two star students in his class who are each terrible in the subject they want to study in college. The boy must now come up with educational material to help them. Watching it.
Carole & Tuesday
Here’s another anime I’m interested in watching. Taking place in the far future where mankind has colonized on Mars, music is now done by AIs and everyone seems content with this. But 2 girls who each come from a different walk of life meet up, become friends, and start making music together. Watching it.
Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu
A girl who suffers from extreme social anxiety enters middle school without her only friend and must now make new ones. Not interested.
Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san
A salaryman has a kitsune who acts as a housewife. Well I’m sure Yume will be interested in watching this. I might too.
Fairy Gone
A dark fantasy where fairies possess and reside within animals, granting them special powers. By surgically implanting the animal parts into a person, that person gains the power to summon a fairy themselves. The anime focuses on a group of people who investigate these fairy soldiers and stop them from committing crimes. Watching it.
Sarazanmai
Well this is weird. A kappa anally rapes 3 boys and turns them into kappas. He tells them that if they want to return to their former selves, they must steal shirikodamas from zombie kappas. I got nothing this is just crazy.
Shoumetsu Toshi
Focuses on a girl and a boy who are on their way to a town that was annihilated some time ago. The girl was the lone survivor and now wishes to return but along the way, they deal with thoughts of those left behind, secret and mysterious organizations, and hidden conspiracies. Watching.
Konoyo no Hate de Koi o Utau Shoujo YU-NO
A sci-fi anime which focuses on a boy who receives a device from his missing dad that allows him to travel to other dimensions. Watching it.
Kono Oto Tomare!
A delinquent joins the koto club at his school. Not interested.
Gunjou no Magmel
A new continent emerges from the ocean and explorers journey to the island to discover new lifeforms. We focus on a group of boys who act as relief workers on the island. Watching it.
Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin
Focuses on mysteries of the supernatural kind. Checking it out.
Diamond no Ace Act II
A new season of Diamond no Ace. Not watching.
RobiHachi
A down on his luck reporter and debt collector travel to space in search of Iskandar, a planet said to bring happiness to those who go there. I might watch this.
Hangyaku-sei Million Arthur 2
Second season of the mobile game Million Arthur. I didn’t even know it had a first season. Not watching.
Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine
Another mobile game turned anime where the main character becomes the manager for a high school baseball team. Not interested but I’ll skim through it.
Mix
A sequel to Touch set 26 years in the future. Not interested.
Soukyuu no Fafner: THE BEYOND
No information now.
Namu Amida Butsu!: Rendai UTENA
An anime about the Buddha mythology. I might check it out.
Hi no Tori: Dogo Onsen-hen
An anime based off the manga Phoenix. I’ll check out the first few episodes and see where this goes.
BAKUMATSU Crisis
Second season of BAKUMATSU. I tried watching the first season but couldn’t really get into it. Skipping it.
Jimoto ga Japan
Shonen Jump continues to push its new manga. This series focuses on a young boy who creates his own martial arts based off of the prefectures in Japan. I’ll watch it.
Kidou Senshi Gundam: The Origin – Zenya Akai Suisei
A recompilation of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. I don’t really follow Gundam but I’ve heard Origin ranks as one of the best seasons. Not watching
KING OF PRISM -Shiny Seven Stars-
No information about this series other then it’s a project in the King of Prism franchise. Not watching.
Aikatsu Friends!: Kagayaki no Jewel
An anime that takes place 2 years after Aikatsu Friends. Not watching.
Along with these animes, we have Dororo, Rising of the Shield Hero, and Boogiepop continuing into the spring.
Final Thoughts
So that’s the spring line-up. A lot of interesting titles coming out this spring that I’ve never heard of but at the same time interested in seeing something new and what they have to offer.
