Hello and welcome to Project Nitsuj. Remember back in January when I did my year 1 statistics and thoughts and told you guys that I said Highschool DxD was the worse review I did because I didn’t provide enough insight and explain things the way I wanted? Well today I’m here to redeem to myself with Highschool DxD’s second season. (Seras): Simply called Highschool DxD New instead of season 2, the second season picks up where the story left off from the first season covering volumes 3 and 4 of the light novel. The anime was released in 2013 under the production of studio TNK (L/R: Licensed by Royalty). (Nitsuj): Uh Seras what are you doing here? (Seras): I am simply helping you with the review. The other girls were talking about how they all did a crossover review with you during the AI arc in April. Why haven’t you done a crossover with me yet? Are you avoiding me or do you simply think I cannot handle a simple review? (Nitsuj): No of course not I just wasn’t really sure what kinds of animes you would be into is all and I wasn’t sure you wanted to do one with me. (Seras): Well I do. I am a part of this team now and I want to do a crossover review. Also for future references I’m into dark anime like this. Now let’s go. (Nitsuj): Okay but you do know this is an ecchi anime possibly one of the most ecchiest animes out there. (Seras): I am fully aware of that troll and I have no problem with it. Now let’s go. We’ll do it live! (Nitsuj): Yes ma’am, let’s return to the school of devils and fanservice this is Highschool DxD.
Opening and Ending Themes
(Nitsuj): For this anime we get 2 openings and endings. The first opening is “Sympathy” by Larval Stage Planning, unique band name FTW. The song is pretty good I like how it starts off slow and loud but as it keeps going it starts to get fast-paced and the tempo picks up. You feel a sense of sadness in the song but you also get a sense of hope also being portrayed in the song. The first ending is “Houteishiki wa Kotaenai” by Occult Kenkyuubu Girls (the female cast of the anime). Didn’t really find this song all that good. It’s not a bad song it’s just a song that doesn’t fit with the anime. The music is nice but I can barely hear the singers. (Seras): About halfway through the season they gave us a new opening called “Gekijouron” by ZAQ. Much like the first opening this opening starts off slow and loud but as time goes on the tempo picks and becomes quite exciting. This song also gives off a sense of sadness but it also gives hope as well as a sense of urgency letting us know that something big is coming and will test our characters. We also got a new ending called “Lovely ♥ Devil” by Occult Kenkyuubu Girls. Now this ending does match up well with the anime. It is ecchi, energetic, and fun to listen to. Each character singing has their own solo and when they sing together they sound great. Personally I liked the first opening and the second ending the most. What about you master? (Nitsuj): Well I agree with you about the 2nd ending being better than the first one but I found the 2nd opening better than the first one.
Episodes 1-4
(Nitsuj): The anime starts with Issei waking up in his bed to a naked Rias sleeping beside him (geez that’s something I would like to have happen to me when I wake up around here. (Seras): You don’t deserve it). Rias wakes up tells him that he’s free to do whatever he wants (lady the things that boy as well as any other boy wants to do to you would turn this anime into a hentai) but their time is cut short by Asia who walks in on them and in a fit of jealousy joins them in bed (damn Issei you the man). They go to school with Issei getting no action (blue balled again) where his left hand begins to act up on him and he rushes to Akeno (Seras: That’s what he gets for having fun in his private time). It turns out that because Issei gave his left hand to the Ddraig last season the dragon’s power keeps trying to take over his arm so he has to get the magic drained out of him directly and the only way to do that is to that is to suck out of his finger (hey Seras I’ve been noticing that your powers are becoming unbalance in the chest area. The only way to re-balance it is to- (Seras): No. No. A million and one times no and a snowball’s chance in Hell). Akeno does this while wearing a see through bathrobe (not even 10 minutes in and this anime has given me more fanservice than half the animes I’ve review this year) and begins sucking on Issei’s finger to get the power out. Later that night Issei goes to meet a client who is a strange but cool middle-aged man who just wanted to have a drink with someone. After chatting with the strange man and receiving a priceless painting Issei is called to meet up with the others to take care of a stray devil. They find the stray devil and destroy it but during the whole fight Yuuto was out of it, not really focusing, and almost got himself killed because of it. This is all due to the fact that earlier Issei showed him a picture where one of the kids that Issei grew-up with had a holy sword. Issei tries to see what’s wrong with him but he’s not talking (woah Yuuto pulled the emo card on us. (Seras): Now he’s somewhat hotter now). Rias explains to Issei that holy swords are the most feared weapons to devils that could kill them in one slash (Seras: Just like a good scythe across the neck could kill anyone) however only a few number of people can use these holy swords. Because of this the church tried to artificially create a person who can wield these holy swords but the project failed killing all of its test subjects except for Yuuto who is the lone survivor of the project who escaped the project, was founded by Rias, and turned into a devil so that he could continue to live. Because Yuuto is the lone survivor he feels that it’s his life’s purpose to find and destroy all the holy swords in the world (quite the goal) and doesn’t think he has a right to have friends (now he’s just being stupid. (Seras): Are you sure it’s not emo. (Nitsuj): No it’s stupid). As Yuuto is walking in the rain he gets attacked by Freed the crazy priest from last season (Seras: Oh look Anderson from Hellsing had a son we didn’t know about) who is wielding a fragment of the holy sword Excalibur. Yeah it turns out the original Excalibur was shattered in a battle long ago and broke into 7 pieces (Seras: Great. As if the sword wasn’t annoying already now we have 7 of them).
Episode 2 opens up with Yuuto fighting Freed and after a short fight Freed retreats for the time being. Issei receives a warning from Ddraig to stay on his toes because a powerful force has been around Issei lately. He also warns Issei to look for the Vanishing Dragon a dragon who holds the same amount of power as Ddraig. Ddraig and the Vanishing Dragon have been fighting each other for years for reasons that they themselves forget (I bet it was over a girl) and he tells Issei that in the future he will be forced to fight the host of the Vanishing Dragon. Back at school Rias and Akeno are called by Sona the student council president to meet with her where she tells her that members of the church want to meet with her and that they were carrying holy swords (okay Sona that’s the first thing you should tell them. *Shizuku appears* (Shizuku): Holy shit there’s an army of viruses trying to invade our system! Seras stop reviewing the anime with this troll and help us! (Seras): Alright I’m coming. I’ll be back. (Shizuku): Also master we’re running low on milk *Seras and Shizuku go back into the system*. (Nitsuj): Damn I’m out of milk again). Issei and Asia return where the members of the church are waiting for them and they are of course beautiful girls (if they were men we would have had to kill them). The first one is Xenovia voiced by Risa Taneda a serious quiet girl who puts the mission first and the other is Irina a cheerful upbeat girl who’s very devoted to her faith and is the childhood friend of Issei who he believed all this time was a boy (you thought she was a boy!? You know for a guy with an unhealthy obsession with girls you would think he’d be able to pick up who’s a boy and girl immediately). She’s voiced by Maaya Uchida who have to admit is a good fit for this character, her voice really does suit Irina. Right away the two can tell that Issei and Asia are devils but they take their leave not attacking them or anything. The next day they come to the clubroom where they tell Rias that the Fallen Angels have stolen 3 of the Excalibur swords and the swords are now right here in the city (technically 5 if you count the ones Xenovia and Irina have) and they don’t want Rias or any of the other devils interfering in their mission or siding with the fallen angels. Rias agrees not to interfere but before Xenovia and Irina leave they both bad mouth Asia calling her a witch (oh no they didn’t) which pisses Issei off and he decides to take them on with Yuuto who was also in the room (oh hi Yuuto when did you get here).
*Seras returns from system*
(Seras): I’m back. All the viruses are dead.
(Nitsuj): Geez that must have been some attack. What happened?
(Seras): I don’t know. The only thing I remember was screaming and bodies flying everywhere.
(Nitsuj):. . .Okay. Care to do the next episodes.
(Seras): Sure. Episode 3 begins with Issei and Yuuto taking on Xenovia and Irina who are wearing skin tight black leather (//img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130715021323/highschooldxd/images/7/75/573e2abb.png and//img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130716204235/highschooldxd/images/c/c0/Xenovia_unwrapping_Excalibur_Destruction.jpg, (Nitsuj): Man blessed be the Lord for giving His loyal followers such sexy armor. I think I just thought up a new outfit for Isis and the others). In the fight the boys lose because Yuuto is blinded by anger for Excalibur (I’ve been down that road. It leads to a total lost each time) and Issei because he takes a sword cut to the chest and loses all of his powers (Nitsuj: Nooo~! We never got to see his dress break technique. And I know those two had good bodies). After taking their leave Yuuto goes against Rias’ orders and decides to go out and find the 3 stolen holy swords by himself even if it means he becomes a stray devil in the process (I’m liking the bad boy side of Yuuto. It adds greatly to his character). Issei can’t stand watching one of his friends suffer so he goes to Saji a member of the student council who is the pawn of Sona and has a crush on her for help in finding these holy swords and destroying them. Naturally he says no (as would any normal devil in his position. Except for me I rather like the idea of destroying something) but Koneko ropes him back in by force. They find Xenovia and Irina in the streets begging people for money and Issei treats them to a meal where they work out a deal where Xenovia will allow the devils to destroy one holy sword (two swords. (Nitsuj): One. (Seras): One in a half. (Nitsuj): One. (Seras): Fine deal). They get Yuuto to join their team and at first he’s against it but after hearing that the former archbishop Valper might be responsible for this he decides to join them because Valper is the man who conducted the experiments on Yuuto and killed all of his friends. Xenovia also tells them that the fallen angel leading the theft of the swords is Kokabiel one of the leaders of the Fallen Angels.
We start episode 4 with Yuuto taking on Freed and seeing Saji’s sacred gear known as Absorption Link a dragon based weapon that launches a thread that isn’t easily broken and absorbs the magic of the person it wraps itself around. The group has Freed where they want him but Valper shows up and tells Freed how to correctly use the holy swords giving him the advantage and break free. Freed and Valper retreat with Yuuto, Xenovia, and Irina on tail and before the others can join them Rias and Sona appear before them (Nitsuj: We’ve been found out scatter). As punishment for going behind their masters’ back Issei and Saji each receive 1000 magic spankings by their masters (yeah *claps hands*! Yeah *claps hands*! Yeah *claps hands*! Yeah *claps hands*). They go home where Issei is greeted by Asia working the naked apron angle all with the mother’s approval (Nitsuj: Best mom ever) and Rias gets in on this action (Nitsuj: Nothing says good cooking like bouncing breast in the kitchen. (Seras): Must you men always concern yourself with breast. (Nitsuj): Of course. Because Seras, boobs weigh heavier than one’s life. (Seras): *Sighs* I should of slit your throat when I had the chance). The next day comes and they all go out looking for Yuuto and the others where they find Irina who has been beaten badly and has lost her holy sword to Freed (and now the crazy priest has four holy swords now). Thy teleport Irina away and Kokabiel appears before them saying that his true objective this whole time has been to restart the great war between demons, angels, and fallen angels because he is bored and loves war (a student of the Major). He thought stealing the holy swords would ignite some tension but it failed so he’s going to move on to his next plan which is destroying the school and possibly the town as well to get the demons and angels to mobilize.
Episodes 5-8
(Nitsuj): We get action all throughout episode 5. Sona and the members of her household put up a barrier around the school where Rias and the others go in to fight Kokabiel, Valper, and Freed. Kokabiel summons cerberuses from Hell and with the help of Xenovia the team is able to destroy them (bad dogs bad dogs). Valper takes the four holy swords and combines them to create one super sword which triggers a self-destruction spell that will activate in 20 minutes. Yuuto confronts Valper where he finds out the awful truth about the Holy Sword Experiment. They weren’t being experimented on to use holy swords, they were instead having their sacred will siphon out of them and crystalized where those crystals were then given to people who the Church deemed worthy and even then there were those whose bodies rejected the crystal entirely and died (so in other words CRYSTALS ARE MADE OF PEOPLE~). All this time Yuuto and his friends were just look at as disposable material and didn’t really need to die (gotta admit that’s quite sad. (Seras): Feelings are for the weak. (Nitsuj): And yet you have a tear running down your face. (Seras): I never said I was strong). Valper throws the original crystal at Yuuto where the souls of his friends come out and tell him that they didn’t want him to live for vengeance they just wanted him to live. They give their powers to him and with his demonic powers they create a holy demonic sword a sword that possess both demonic and holy magic (yin and yang have been rejoined to create something amazing). With this new sword Yuuto is able to break through the super sword and destroy the four swords of Excalibur (Seras: And with that Yuuto became the man). Kokabiel kills Valper and decides that he’ll give the group one last chance to stop him (overconfident much). He tells Issei to transfer his powers to anyone he wants so Kokabiel can take that person on in a one on one fight (Seras: Or we could all just rush him and rip the bastard’s heart out).
We pick up where episode 5 left off in episode 6. Issei transfers his powers to Rias but she’s still not strong enough to defeat Kokabiel (starting to think we should have called in her brother). The others join in with Yuuto pulling a Zoro on us (and actually gets a hit in. Good shout out to One Piece) and Kokabiel gives some revealing news to the group. First off Akeno is actually the daughter of a fallen angel (this explains her angelic beauty) and the biggest reveal of is in this world God died in the last Great War (Seras: Balls! Brass balls on the author right there). Even though God is dead the system that He created is still intact so things like prayers, blessings, and exorcisms still work in the world but damn to actually kill God off in your story that takes a lot of guts. As a Christian I should be really upset and mad about this but the author does something to calm my nerves later on in the series. Naturally Asia and Xenovia are shocked by this but Issei doesn’t care about that information because he’s going to protect his friends no matter what. In an act of badassery Issei charges at Kokabiel and takes him on himself (Seras: Get you some Issei) hitting him with a series of punches rallying the others to fight once again. But their resolve goes to waste because the white dragon has arrived onto the scene and has defeated Kokabiel (dude! You stole Issei’s thunder. Not cool man. Not cool). After the fight Ddraig and Albion (that’s the name of the Vanishing Dragon) say hello to each other and the host of Albion flies off while carrying away Freed. The next day at school we see that after learning the truth about God, Xenovia has left the Church and became Rias’ second knight meaning she’s a devil now (Seras: Well that goes to show how strong her faith was). She keeps this information a secret from Irina because her faith runs deeper than Xenovia’s. After the credits we see Issei hanging out with that strange man again who reveals himself to be Azazel the leader of the Fallen Angels and the master of Albion’s host. He’s voiced by Rikiya Koyama (Shinigami from Soul Eater).
(Seras): So yeah that was a surprising twist of Issei’s client being Azazel was something. In episode 7 he tells Issei that there’s going to be a summit at the school between the devils, angels, and fallen angels regarding the issues between the three factions. For the majority of the episode after we get what this anime is famous for. . .fanservice (Nitsuj: Hell yeah). The group is asked to clean the school pool and after they clean it they use it. During this time Akeno keeps making passes at Issei and making Rias jealous (Nitsuj: There’s plenty of him to go around ladies. Although I must say Issei is exercising great restraint. If I had been me I would have took her right there on the locker room floor making her moan like a wildebeest. (Seras): Thank you for that vivid and raunchy description). It gets to a point where Rias has enough and gets into a magic fight with Akeno. During their fight Xenovia pulls Issei to the side where she tells Issei she wants to have his baby (oh for the lord of- (Nitsuj): ISSEI! You are the man! The man I say). But before they can get to the baby making Rias finds them and stops them. After that fanservice Rias’ brother Sirzechs shows up because tomorrow is parent visitation and he along with Rias’ father are coming to visit (I imagine Rias will be pretty embarrassed seeing her father and brother in school). Sirzechs goes to stay at Issei’s house for the night where he and Issei talk about Rias’ breast (that’s your sister! (Nitsuj): Doesn’t mean he can’t admire them). During this time we see that Sirzechs is actually a very likable guy. He doesn’t not formal stuff, he prefers to be treated like a regular guy instead of this all-powerful overlord, cares deeply for the happiness of his sister and he seems to like Issei going as far as giving Issei permission to call him bro (wow, that means he’s totally okay with Issei joining the family). The episode ends with Issei walking to school alone where he meets Albion’s host Vali.
Not much happens in episode 8. Vali voiced by Ryota Ohsaka (Maou from The Devil is a Part-timer) simply comes to greet Issei, mocks him for being weak, and takes his leave (asshole). After that the mood changes to comedy where we meet Sona’s older sister Serafall who is one of the four overlords of the Underworld, obsessed with magical girls and likes to cosplay as them (Nitsuj: Oh~, cosplay as Sailor Mercury. (Seras): Shut up. Besides Sailor Moon fits her personality more. (Nitsuj): Uh~ true. Didn’t think you be magical girl expert. (Seras): *blushes* I may have dabbled in my share of magical girls in the past), and likes to dote Sona which embarrasses her greatly. We also meet Rias father (who is a total DILF) who quickly becomes friends with Issei’s father making Rias a little bit embarrassed. We get a touching scene between Issei and Rias (scene here://youtu.be/Z1_CJrMRuf0, (Nitsuj): Poor kid. He’s in love with the girl but he’s too afraid to express his feelings out of fear of what happened last season. (Seras): It truly goes to show you how one bad relationship can affect a person entirely). At the end of the episode Sirzechs gives Rias permission to free her other bishop (Nitsuj: There’s another one? Is she hot? (Seras): What makes you think it’s a she? (Nitsuj): Three words. Ecchi harem anime).
Episodes 9-12
(NItsuj): In episode 9 we meet Rias second bishop Gasper a trap character (I don’t believe this. If you’re in an ecchi harem anime than all of the characters should be females those are the rules) voiced by Ayane Sakura. Gasper is a half-human half-vampire demon who has the power to stop time around him but the problem is he can’t control his powers all that well and had to be sealed away because of it. Because of his powers along with being rejected and hated by both humans and vampires Gasper has a huge fear of going outside and his powers resulting in a lot of wimpy moments of the character crying and making you question your sexuality (Seras: I have a complicated urge to hug and bully him). The group tries to get him to go outside and control his powers but all their efforts fall short and instead only make him more afraid to go outside (the fault lies in Koneko and Xenovia). Issei opens up to Gasper telling how he too is scared of his powers but he’s learned to accept them and move on with his life because he wants to protect his friends and transfer his powers into Rias’ breast (he also wants to suck on them. And motorboat them. And rub them. Now that I think about it Issei wants to do a lot of things to Rias’ breast. As do I). The talk works as Gasper begins to develop a level of respect and admiration for Issei (Seras: Gasper this is not the right role-model for you to look up to). We end the episode with Issei being called to a Shinto temple by Akeno which is under demon rule where he meets Michael leader of the angels (Holy Father! It’s the holy angel).
At the beginning of episode 10 Michael (Seras: YEE HEE HEE! (Nitsuj): Was that a Michael Jackson joke? (Seras): Too much? (Nitsuj): No, just right) gives Issei the sword Ascalon a holy dragon slaying sword with the hopes that Issei will use that sword for the benefit of peace between the three races (scene here: //youtu.be/grZcx30aNLA). Issei accepts the gift and Michael takes his leave (wait before you go can you do the moonwalk for me). After he leaves Akeno opens up to Issei and reveals that she’s daughter of a fallen angel (yeah I kind of figured that out). It turns out her mother was a temple priest who saved her father’s life which resulted in the two doing the horizontal bop and conceiving Akeno. But for some reason Akeno hates her father and chose to abandon the fallen angels so she met Rias and got turn into a devil which resulted in one of her wings turning into the wing of a devil and the other wing remaining the wing of a fallen angel (man half fallen angel, half demon, and half human. Just add in half-angel and she’ll be the chosen one). She then ask Issei if he hates her because she’s a fallen angel (the same race that killed him and tried to destroy his hometown) and he simply says that he hates fallen angels but he still likes Akeno for Akeno. Now that’s a great scene right there. It shows that even though Issei has a deep and reasonable hatred for the fallen angels he’s mature, smart, and thoughtful enough not to hold his grudge against Akeno because he sees her as a friend who’s helped him out so many times in the past and sees her as a person instead of some faceless fallen angel. This sets well with Akeno and she’s overjoyed that Issei doesn’t hate her so overjoyed that this was final push she needed to completely fall with Issei (and he’s done it again folks). Rias walks in on the two practicing the lap pillow where she starts to feel sad because Issei only sees Rias as his president and master instead of just Rias (Seras: Oh cry me a river. Just tell the boy you like him and want to wake the neighbors at night with him). For the rest of the episode Issei continues to train Gasper, the summit between the three factions begins with Rias and the others (minus Gasper and Koneko) along with Sona, Vali, and Irinia (well the tension in this room has got the ingredients for a volatile situation waiting to go off) being eye-witnesses to the summit between Sizarchs, Serafall, Azazel and Michael and not knowing that there’s a fourth faction at work behind the scenes.
(Seras): The summit continues in episode 11 where Azazel wants to know what the two dragons think about the current situation between the three factions and if they should declare peace. Vali doesn’t care as long as he gets to fight strong opponents (oh great a fight nut. We should introduce him to Shizuku). Issei on the other hand isn’t sure what to think (it should be obvious that you want peace maggot. If a war breaks out you’ll be among the first to die) until Azazel tells him that if peace is declared he’ll be allowed to have sex with Rias everyday whenever he wants and he is totally on board with peace (Nitsuj: Okay as much as that is a very nice dream worthy of peace being declared and one I’m sure Rias is totally fine with. In case you forgot her older brother one of overlords as in one of the strongest devils is right in front of you. Show a little restraint! (Seras): Oh by the way he chuckles throughout that whole scene. (Nitsuj): Hey focus man he’s talking about doing your little sister). But the summit gets interrupted by magicians being led by a woman named Katerea a descendent of the original Leviathan (so does that make her a furry. (Nitsuj): No. It makes her an animal girl. I’ve discussed this in my Dog Days season 2 review. Look it up). She doesn’t like the idea of peace between the three factions so she’s going to kill Serafall and the others and reclaim her title as Overlord Leviathan. She has her magicians capture Gasper and force his powers to enter Balance Breaker mode where they control them to freeze up everyone in time. Luckily, Issei, Rias, Yuuto, Xenovia, Irinia, Vali, and the four representatives are able to escape Gaspers powers and they ready a counter attack with Azazel taking on Katerea with Yuuto, Xenovia, Irinia, and Vali distracting the magicians while Issei and Rias go to save Gasper and Koneko (Nitsuj: Alright their first pre-date). They find Gasper where he begs Rias to kill him because he’s caused so much trouble but Rias refuses to kill him because she cares deeply for him. Issei uses Ascalon to cut himself and he gives his blood to Gasper which allows him to break free from his captives, save Koneko, and freeze all the enemies in the room giving Issei the opportunity to deliver the final blow to them (which is striping them naked). Issei gives Gasper a bracelet that will stop his powers from going berserk and the group goes to join the others and fight.
The final episode is just in all-out brawl. First off Gasper uses his powers to unfreeze everyone and Azazel defeats Katerea by sacrificing his left arm. Vali betrays Azazel saying that he’s working with a new group called the Khaos Brigade an organization that consists of multiple races between the three factions including humans who are the descendants of legendary/mythical heroes. Their leader is the Dragon of Infinity Ophis. Vali reveals that he’s a half-devil and is the descendent of the original Lucifer and threatens to kill Issei’s parents in an attempt to make Issei stronger for him to fight against (Nitsuj: Asshole). This of course doesn’t sit well with Issei and we get a great fight between the two to blow the season out (scene here://youtu.be/8EHTQuiYYH8, (Nitsuj): Now that was an epic fight. Also, remember when I said earlier how as a Christian I should be mad about the author killing God off but I wasn’t? Well, there’s a last bit at the end with Xenovia and Asia that makes me okay with this. They still want to offer their prayers to God and they still believe in Him which in my opinion is awesome and is a huge part of being a Christian. So what if God is dead that still doesn’t take away from all the things He’s done in the world or His teachings. Sure being a Christian is about believing in God but it’s also about believing and living by His teachings to make yourself and others around you better). We end the season with Azazel becoming an advisor for the Occult Research Club and all the girls moving into Issei’s house under Sirzach’s order to help deepen bonds (Nitsuj: Okay it’s official, Sirzach is awesome).
Final Thoughts
Well Highschool DxD came back stronger, better, and ecchier than ever. I do like how this season focuses and explores other characters like Yuuto and Akeno while also introducing us to new characters and establishing them into the series. The season also keeps a good amount of focus on Issei showing how he’s getting stronger while also establishing bonds with everyone else in the group. He even has a few badass moments and fight scenes where he looks pretty cool. The characters are a welcomed addition as well. Xenovia is a serious person who’s trying to act like a regular girl. It’s quite funny and the scenes where she’s trying to have sex with Issei are quite funny. Gasper is a bit of whiner which will annoy you but to in his defense his whiney nature is somewhat understandable and as time goes on he’ll get better. I’m glad they made Vali go rogue on us and join the Brigade whose sole purpose is to fight against all the major factions in the show and having the members be descendants of famous mythological creatures was a great idea. (Seras): Speaking of factions, it was nice to see who the major leaders of each faction and see that even though there’s a bit of hatred between the three leaders they all agree that peace is the way to go and something they should strive for. I also did enjoy how the girls are starting to become more serious with Issei and want to start an intimate relationship with him.
(Nitsuj): The animation is the same as last season’s as well as the music but the fight scenes this time around are great, that fight between Issei and Vali was epic, one of the best fight scenes I’ve seen in a while. Fanservice is still great and better than ever, the character development is done excellently, and the story just kept getting better and better each episode.
Is it better than the first season
(Nitsuj): Yes. Definitely better than the first season. It blows the first season out of the water in every way. What do you think Seras. (Seras): I say yes the second season is definitely better than the first season. Just like you said the second season does a good job developing characters giving us more insight into who Yuuto, Akeno, and Gasper are showing us that each member carries their own burden and is trying to move forward. Fight scenes were great this season and will continue to get better as the story progresses. It’s really hard to find a serious fault with this series seeing how it’s a fanservice anime with good comedy and story that gets your attention.
Final Score
My final score for Highschool DxD New is a 9/10 almost close to perfect. (Seras): I give the season an 8/10 seeing as I was hoping they’d explored Koneko more since she’s my favorite character. But still a great season nonetheless. (Nitsuj): So average out our scores this season gets a final score of 8.5/10 with a must watch stamp of approval. If you liked the first season you’ll love the second season and if you’re looking for a good harem ecchi anime that has great fanservice and a story to go along with it than check this anime out. Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time on Project Nitsuj. Also, thank you Seras for a great review. (Seras): My pleasure. It was fun. (Nitsuj): Yeah I agree. You know I’m watching Tokyo Ghoul and I would love to hear your thoughts on it if you’re ever free. (Seras): Yes, I be glad to watch it with you. (Nitsuj): Awesome, *pats Seras on the shoulder* see ya around Seras.
*As Nitsuj leaves the room Seras’ eyes begin to tear up and she begins to cry a little. The other AI girls come in and see Seras crying.*
(Mira): Oh what did he do!?
