Record 28: Azure The God of Water

(Morgan): Azure, God of Water, ruler of the oceans, the Dragon of the Deep. Whatever you want to call him, he’s a god. Azure worked very closely with Midori when creating Rein. When Azure saw how people had a hard time reaching faraway lands, he created the oceans to help them travel. He then filled the oceans with sea life to give people food for long voyages. Merfolk carry a close relationship to Azure and are the prime supporters of his religion. It’s possibly because of their association with water, that Merfolk are followers of Azure. Many descriptions and paintings of Azure depict him as a Merfolk as well.

Now the Merfolk have shared many stories about Azure. Saying that he had the power to transform into a dragon in order to travel the oceans more quickly. How he pushed a drunk Zekell into a pool of water in order to sober him up which resulted in the first hot springs being made. Even ancient elf ruins show Azure fighting against sea monsters on their wall murals. I can’t help but wonder if Azure walked on land and conversed with elves. Probably the biggest story surrounding him is that, unlike the other gods who ascended up to a different plane of existence, Azure stayed behind in order to watch over the oceans. It is rumored that in the deepest depths of the ocean, Azure lives in a palace where he awaits those hoping to find him. Once in the palace, he will give you a choice. You can either take riches back with you to the surface or you can remain in the palace and gain the knowledge of the gods. Worldly wealth or mental wealth? It’s a tough choice. Sadly, no one has been able to locate the palace. Even Merfolk who brave the ocean and do deep dives have either given up or turned back due to the dangers that lurk in the deepest parts. Personally, I too am curious if this palace exists. As a scholar, this palace presents a big opportunity for me to gain knowledge of the universe.
