Hello, Nitsuj here and welcome to the side blog the blogs between the blogs. Well guys it’s the middle of August which means fall is just around the corner and with fall that means school is starting back up again for some of you out there. Now I’m sure some of you got the school blues but I’ve got just the thing to cheer you up, fall anime. That’s right, it’s time for first impressions, where we take a look at the anime set to come out this fall and give our initial thoughts on them. I’m really excited for fall as this lineup and the summer lineup are the ones where we usually get the best animes of the year. Some of my favorite animes from the summer have been Attack on Titan, Overlord, How not to Summon a Demon Lord, Grand Blue, Cells at Work, and Banana Fish. I’ve also heard that Baki was good. I haven’t gotten a chance to check it out so if anybody’s watching it let me know how it is in the comment section below. With that said, lets kiss those school blues goodbye and take at what’s coming out in the fall.
Akanesasu Shoujo
An anime that will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Animax channel. For those of you who don’t know, Animax is Asia’s go to channel for watching anime. I might watch it.
Anima Yell!
A clumsy girl who’s scared of heights joins her school’s cheerleading club to conquer her weaknesses. Not interested.
BAKUMATSU
Based off a game where a girl gets transported to the final years of the Edo period that are different from our history. I’m handing this over to the AI girls and see what they do with it.
Bakutsuri Bar Hunter
It’s like what would happen if you combined fishing with Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Not watching.
Beelzebub-jou no Okinimesu mama
A guy gets his dream job becoming the tenure of the demon king only to discover the demon lord is not what he imagined. I might watch it.
CONCEPTION
Oh my God they actually made an anime based off this game? In the game you play as this guy who gets transported to another world along with his pregnant cousin to fight monsters which can only be destroyed by star children, these adorable little children who are created when the guy and a girl known as a shrine maiden have spiritual sex with each other. It’s one of the silliest concepts I’ve ever seen in an RPG and I love it for that. Watching it.
Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu
A yaoi anime where an up and coming idol blackmails another idol in order to have a physical relationship with him. Not watching.
DOUBLE DECKER! Doug & Kirill
Follows a two-man detective team. One’s a rookie and the other one’s a veteran. I might watch it.
Fairy Tail (2018)
The final season of Fairy Tail which will adapt the final chapters of the manga. Not watching.
Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san
A comedy series about a bookstore owner who is a skeleton and his bizarre customers. Not watching.
Gakuen BASARA
A comedy anime based off a Capcom game where students battle to become the next student council. Not interested.
Goblin Slayer
This is one of the most anticipated animes of the year. I’ve been hearing a lot about this anime. The story focuses on a man known as the Goblin Slayer who has dedicated his life to slaying goblins by any means necessary. As rumors of his feats begin to spread there’s no telling what the future holds for him. Watching it.
Golden Kamuy 2
Here’s an anime I’m looking forward to watching, Golden Kamuy. I enjoyed the first season way more than I thought I would and I’m definitely watching the second season to see where the story goes from here.
Gurazeni 2
The season of Gurazeni, the comedy baseball series where the player’s salary is based on how well they perform in games. Not really a baseball guy so I won’t be watching it but if it’s getting a second season I guess that means the first season went well.
Gyakuten Saiban: Sono “Shinjitsu”, Igi Ari! Season 2
The season of Phoenix Wright. I watched a little bit of the first season but got bored with it so I’ll be skipping the second season.
Hangyaku-sei Million Arthur
An anime based off of Square Enix’s massive online RPG. I’ll check it out.
Himote House
Focuses on five girls living together with mysterious powers. Not interested.
Hinomaru-Zumou
An anime about sumo wrestling where the main character is the opposite of the average sumo wrestler. I will check it out.
Hu Li Zhi Sheng
A Chinese anime about music and the people involved in making it. I might watch it.
Ingress
A team of scientist unearth a mysterious energy in Europe where the scientist become split on what to do with it. They believe this new energy is affecting the way think so some scientist and others welcome this change while others battle against it in order to keep humanity safe. Watching it.
Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara
A mage who lost her sense of color and lacks emotion, gets sent to past where she hangs out with a girl around her age. Not watching.
JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Ougon no Kaze
The fifth story arc of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. This time we’ll be focusing on Giorno a young man trying to work through the ranks of a crime organization to become a head gangster and use his position to make the world a better place. Well Jojo has become one of the must watch series out there so I’ll check it out when I get the chance.
Karakuri Circus
A man has inherited a large fortune from his dead father and everyone around him wants it. After fighting some weird men who turned out to be puppets with enhanced strength, the man realizes he’s no match for his killers until he gets saved by his watcher from France. This sounds interesting so I’ll check out the first 3 episodes to see what happens.
Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru
An anime series that focuses on the Tokyo-Hakone Round-Trip College Ekiden Race or “Hakone Ekiden”. It’s one of the biggest university relay races held every year in Japan on January 2nd and 3rd. It goes from Tokyo to Hakone and back bringing the trip to about 135.4 miles. In the anime we’ll most likely be focusing on some of the runners in the relay so if you like running check this anime out. I’m skipping it.
Kira Kira Happy ★ Hirake! Cocotama
I have no idea what I’m looking at. Skipping it.
Kishuku Gakkou no Juliet
A yuri anime where two girls are the leaders of their respective dormitories at their school that are in a rivalry with each other and the two girls are in love with each other. I might check it out.
Merc Storia: Mukiryoku no Shounen to Bin no Naka no Shoujo
Based off a fantasy role-playing game, a healer sets out on a journey to restore the memories of his good friend Merc, a girl trapped in a bottle. Skipping it.
Ore ga Suki nano wa Imouto dakedo Imouto ja Nai
A sibling romantic comedy where the little sister writes a novel about a little sister doting on her big brother. The novel wins an award and they decide to pass the author off as the big brother. Not watching.
Radiant
Witches, magicians, magic, and monsters. I might watch this.
RELEASE THE SPYCE
A generic anime about high school girls who work for an agency that protect a city from danger. I’ll check it out.
RErideD: Koku Koe no Derrida
We got kind of a Terminator mixed with the Last of Us story here. In the future two friends named Nathan and Derrida discover a flaw in these automatons. They try to warn their boss get ignored and instead of taking precautions for said danger they instead go to a birthday party of Nathan’s daughter Mage. The next day, Nathan and Derrida get attacked by unknown forces where Derrida falls into a cold sleep for 10 years. He wakes 10 years later to see that the world is at war with the machines and heads out to find Mage following the last words of his friend to keep her safe. Watching it.
Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai
An upperclassman girl wears a bunny suit that only our main character can see thanks to a mysterious phenomenon known as puberty syndrome. The main character sets out to solve this mystery as other girls appear before him. This sounds ridiculous but I want to see where this goes.
Senran Kagura SHINOVI MASTER -Tokyo Youma-hen-
A second season of Senran Kagura? Well this time the anime is being done by TNK who did the first three seasons of Highschool DxD and directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa who also directed Highscool DxD along with other fanservice heavy anime so maybe this season might work out better. Checking it out.
Sora to Umi no Aida
In the future fish disappear from the ocean so they launch a space program to catch fish in space, I don’t know. Women are in high demand for this job and we focus on 6 new female recruits. Not watching.
Souten no Ken: REGENESIS 2
The second season of Fist of the Blue Sky. It’s like Jojo if it was told by a normal person. I’m skipping this one.
SSSS.GRIDMAN
The second anime of studio Trigger’s big collaboration project. The series is based off of Ultraman a popular sci-fi action series from the 60s that in many ways inspired Sentai Rangers or Power Rangers for us in the west. Watching it.
Sword Art Online: Alicization
The third season of SAO which will adapt the Alicization arc which I’m told is where Reki stops messing around and shows how good of a writer he can be. Watching it.
Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken
A guy gets reincarnated as a slime. I have to watch this.
Thunderbolt Fantasy 2
Second season of Thunderbolt Fantasy. Didn’t care for this series so I’m skipping it.
Toaru Majutsu no Index III
Third season and not watching it. I never really got into this anime.
Tokyo Ghoul:re 2
The second season of Tokyo Ghoul:re. Not really liking this season as much as the first season so here’s hoping things get better.
Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san
A girl becomes interested in a vampire girl who saved her. Not watching.
Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudou-bu
A sports anime about archery. Skipping it.
Uchi no Maid ga Uzasugiru
A little girl is under the protection of a maid who is former SDF and is a lolicon. I might watch this to get a laugh.
Ulysses: Jeanne d’Arc to Renkin no Kishi
A new take on the 100 years’ war filled with magic. Watching it.
Yagate Kimi ni Naru
Another yuri anime about a girl who gets a confession from her senpai and doesn’t know how to respond. Not interested.
Zokuowarimonogatari
Focuses on the Koyomi Reverse arc. Not watching.
Along with these anime we have Baki, Banana Fish, Attack on Titan and a few others from the summer line-up continuing into the fall.
Movies and OVAs
Nothing too big on the movie and OVA front. We’re getting another DBZ movie, three K movies so they’ll make Mira happy, and a Youkai Watch movie. We got a OVA of Re:Zero coming out and a Yu Yu Hakusho special. That’s cool, I haven’t seen Yu Yu Hakusho in years.
Final Thoughts
Well guys I got to be honest, I’m not really feeling this line-up for the fall. While I’m looking forward to seeing Golden Kamuy, Goblin Slayer, Ulysses and Gridman, the rest of the line-up consists of animes I’m on the fence about or not interested in. It looks like this fall is gonna be a slow one for me and I’ll probably just use it to watch other animes I didn’t have time to watch earlier this year.
