Record 12: The Hargus Kingdom

(Morrison): Throughout the world there are a good number of kingdoms which serve as sanctuaries for people. Some are bigger or smaller than others, but they all do their best to work together and look out for one another. The Kingdom of Brister has done its best to remain on friendly terms with the surrounding kingdoms and empires within the area, but the one that seems to give us the most trouble is Hargus. Our neighbors up north who claim that the land in which Brister is on used to belong to them and have attacked our settlements and people on multiple occasions. Some of these disputes have even led to battles and mini wars fought between the two kingdoms throughout the years. There have been many attempts at talks and summits to broker some kind of peace between the two kingdoms, but they all end with both sides not able to come to an agreement and having to settle their disputes on the battlefield. It’s not just Brister they have problems with, but multiple countries have voiced their complaints about Hargus.

Hargus wasn’t always this difficult to work with. In the past, they were on good terms with Brister and everyone else. The kingdom was founded by the Hargus royal family who ruled the land fairly and with justice. They were well established as an agricultural country with beautiful farmlands. Their harvest festival was said to be one of the best out there and their soldiers some of the friendliest people you would ever see. Sadly, problems occurred throughout the kingdom. The land was hit with a feminine, multiple Eclipse attacks, and their last king wasn’t exactly the best ruler. He poorly managed the day-to-day work of the kingdom, was easily swayed by corrupted nobles, unfair taxes and allowed other kingdoms to walk over him and his people. Eventually, the people had enough as did the military. A coup soon took place and the royal family was publicly executed in front of everyone. The kingdom soon came under the rule of the military who transformed the nation into a military nation. The farmlands were soon replaced by factories as the kingdom shifted to focus on mining and machines. This move worked for a while as they were able to find good materials in the mountain, but it wouldn’t be long before it ran dry and the people started to complain again. The military acted fast and decided to shift the people’s anger to other surrounding kingdoms giving them an excuse to attack them. Young boys and girls were given military training and would be forced to join the army should they be called to fight. Those that refused were sentenced to hard labor in the mountains or factories. It’s sad to see a once prosperous and well-respected kingdom fall and become what it is today, but at the same time it serves as a warning to other kingdoms to keep their affairs in order.
