Record 13: The Crestbush Mage Academy

(Morgan): Create a beautiful game. That’s what students are told when they enter the Crestbush Mage Academy. One of the unique things about Brister is that it has two knight academies. The first and most popular choice is Landshill and for good reason. A lot of people wanting to become knights are a bit more physically fit than the average person and their magic only enhances their physical capabilities. But what about those who want to be knights but aren’t exactly the most physical and prefer a role that focuses more on strategy and improving magic technology? Well that’s where Crestbush Mage Academy comes in. The school was founded by Maria Crestbush a teacher in the art of sorcery, spirits, and mage magic. Originally, the academy wasn’t a knight academy, but the royal family of Brister were impressed by the students and education that they decided to make it a knight academy. However, instead of placing an emphasis on physical fighting they would instead focus primarily on strategies, magic, and ways to improve magic technology. Which makes sense seeing as how a lot of students there aren’t exactly the most physical of fighters. Students who enter the academy usually specialize in spirit summoning, mage weapons, and new age magic. The curriculum is usually split into two fields. There’s mage weaponry which is usually for students who want to specialize in spirit summoning or creating magic weapons to use in battle. The second field is the new age magic where students combine magic and technology together to create something new and innovative. Call me old school but I never really got into this kind of magic, but I won’t lie, I have to respect what they make. It’s pretty impressive. Just like Landshill, it’s a three-year school and students must be 14 or older to enter the academy. During the first year, students are introduced to the two curriculums where they can get a feel for which field suits them the best. During their second year they pick the field they want to go into, get their provisional knight license, and do some field work within the orders if they choose to. Remember, this originally wasn’t a knight school and some students there aren’t interested in becoming knights, some of them just want to study magic and make a career out of it by getting hired by a company. In the third-year students who want to become knights take the graduation test in front of order representatives while those who don’t want to become knights graduate regularly assuming they passed their courses where they go out to work for companies, open up their own magic shops/businesses, or join the sage program where they remain at the academy to study magic and join teams to work on magic thesis, programs, or experiments that they’re passionate about. While the school has often been labeled as a gathering of eccentric individuals obsessed with magic, make no mistake that the passion of those who walk through the doors is real. They see the potential that magic has to offer for the world and are determined to figure out all of its mysteries and unlock doors that weren’t discovered before. In the end, it’s a beautiful game that never seems to end.
