Record 16: Styles of the Wind School

(Sanada): The Wind School. It has existed for thousands of years within the Han-Sakura Empire. The founder of the Wind School was Gon Sakei a great swordsman whose land was being ravaged by an enemy country. As his side was losing and he was on the brink of death he met Caelestis, the God of Wind. Caelestis took Gon to the heavens where he taught him the teachings of the Wind. Gon said he felt like he was there for an eternity but when he woke up barely a minute had passed. With his new knowledge and skills, Gon returned to battle and unleashed the teachings he had learned to crush the enemies of his kingdom and lead them to victory. After the war was over, Gon went off on a journey to teach others what he had learned. He soon went on to establish the Wind School, where those seeking to become samurais of the wind could learn the ways of the Wind.

Precision. Speed. Strength. These are the three foundations of the Wind School and what you will need to master the teachings of the Wind. There are four styles in total they teach at the Wind School: Wind, Tornado, Hurricane, and Cyclone. Each one is geared to help a samurai out of any particular situation in battle they would find themselves in. The first style Wind is the basic style and the first style all samurais of the Wind School learn. This style is all about balance between precision, speed, and strength. The attacks are simple but effective in battle. The second style is Tornado. This style places a heavy emphasis on precision. The attacks are more deadly and target vital areas on the body. It’s the perfect style to use for killing your enemies and eliminating Eclipses. The third style, Hurricane, specializes in speed. You overwhelm your opponent with your speed and agility. Strength takes a backseat here, but you make up for this by striking your opponents with multiple hits in a quick succession. This style works exceptionally well when facing multiple enemies or surrounded. Finally, Cyclone. This style specializes in strength while not focusing on precision. It requires a good control of magic as you’ll be unleashing an array of attacks with a wide range. Out of all the styles this one is the most destructive and hard to master, but I have to admit it is what my friends call badass. Within your first year at the school you’ll learn the Wind style and then from there you’re free to learn any other style of your choice. On average, a normal graduate will master two styles, but there have been some who decide to stick around and master three or all four styles. Those who master three styles earn the ranking of Wind Master and those who master all four styles earn the prestigious title of Grand Wind Master and are allowed to read the sacred text and records of the Wind School to learn hidden techniques. Becoming a Grand Wind Master is very difficult and a big deal. Throughout the school’s history, there’s only been eleven total with the most recent one happening almost six years ago and the one before that happening 150 years ago. The styles of the Wind School are strong and require great discipline to learn, but those who master these techniques are a force to be reckoned with and use their sword to protect the innocent.
